The cotton candy I got when I went to SF off the grid wasn’t very good. It didn’t melt in your mouth at all and I can just remember not liking the texture.
The presentation is beautiful though.

2 stars are for their delicious product, but couldn’t give the last 3 stars because their customer service is not good. Have tried them at Off the Grid, and then inquired about catering an event. After 2 web site inquiries, an email, and a phone call, I have not received a response at all. The event is in a month and a half, but I would think this is enough lead time. Do they not want more business? Disappointed…

I haven’t had cotton candy in a while and my coworker wanted some so I agreed to eat it as our dessert at the San Francisco Street Food Festival. They had interesting flavors that sounds really good. I didn’t want to order all of it so we decided to have Banana Nutella. This was really good! Banana flavor with a good taste of nutella!
I will definitely check this food truck again. It’s a bit on the pricy side but then again you’re in San Francisco, everything is expensive.

I had Sugar & Spun at Outside Lands. I kept seeing people with massive, delicious looking cotton candy bouquets and knew I HAD to have one.
I was looking for basic cotton candy and their flavors are very gourmet so I was a little scared to try them, but cotton candy can never taste bad, right? I went with the «Cookie Monster» flavor and it was AMAZING. Basically tasted like a cookie.
It was a little pricey, but it’s very well made and they have many creative flavors. Also, the staff was very friendly. In all, I will definitely try again!

So very disappointed… after reading all the reviews I went straight for them at Off the Grid, thinking I would be in for something very special. Not.
It’s just very pricey cotton candy.

If you want to make an impression on someone, go ahead and give them some sugar & spun cotton candy as a gift! Or better yet, perhaps gift them with a class so they can learn how to make said cotton candy on their own.
I was the lucky recipient of the S’mores flavored cotton candy awhile back during a trip to SF, and mmmm — it was the best cotton candy I’ve ever had. Delicious! And natural and organic to boot… awesome!
Better than being a recipient, I just learned from the Unilocal website that this locally owned San Francisco business has a grand vision. They believe that you must experience the process. I guess I have something else to add to my bucket list… or at least a to-​do item for a future trip to SF.
One note: Once you open the container, the product will shrink a bit, but it was still the perfect sweet treat. Looks like Sugar & Spun is now carried at Boba Guys, so I may just have to swing by there to do a cotton candy /​boba pairing sometime!

I’ve been wanting to try Sugar & Spun ever since Boba Guys featured their product at their Mission Store. Recently, my best friend and I went to OTG Fort Mason and Sugar and Spun happened to have a booth set up. Among the flavors (about 5 – 7) were simple flavors such as Strawberry, Nutella and the more advanced flavors such as Strawberry Shortcake and get this, Foie Gras with Raspberry. Yes, Foie Gras as in duck liver!!! My mind was blown, but the thought of having a duck liver flavored cotton candy didn’t settle well with me, so I passed and shared with my best friend, who ordered a Strawberry Shortcake. The cotton candy is expensive at $ 6-​$ 10, which is why Sugar and Spun is only getting 4 stars.
The Strawberry Shortcake flavor is SPOT ON — so spot on that I swear that I tasted a strawberry seed in the cotton candy. If you have kids, the cotton candy is definitely plenty to share between them and yourself! I saw on their website that they had other flavors such as Li Hing Pineapple and Spiced Mango, which are definitely some flavors that I would love to try in the near future! Great concept.

I love sugar & spun since they make artisanal small batch cotton candy. I first ran into them a year and a half ago at the all you can eat crab festival. I think their co owner was there at the time. He seemed friendly and very passionate about making the purest cotton candy with the highest quality ingredients. It was my first time seeing such unique cotton candy. I got tried the cookie one and the pineapple one and they were so special. Of course they had the texture of cotton candy but the flavors distinctly tasted like what they said it would taste like. I had to buy a couple of tubs and gifted some for Christmas!
Since then I saw the company at other craft fairs and at boba guys. Usually boba guys has one flavor which changes week to week. I got their piña colada flavor last time I was there and it was very good. When I was at fort mason this Friday I got their peanut butter and jelly one and their foie gras and raspberry one. Both were very unique and delicious!

Don’t be stupid. If you don’t like cotton candy, you’re a weirdo, in a bad way.
Don’t get me wrong, if all you’ve ever had is that pink and blue shit on a flacid cone from a sweaty vendor, this ain’t what you’ve tasted. Try pineapple with chili, oreo cookie, and peanut butter chocolate flavors, for example. They’ll will even give you a sample if you try to puss out.
The company’s people are friendly, creative, and just try it.
I can’t get enough. It comes in a nice to-​go plastic tub so you don’t experience embarassing shrinkage. The flavors are sweet, but not in the same way you remember cotton candy being sweet.

Tried these guys out at off the grid. The smell of cotton candy was tantalizing me all night until finally i gave in and gave up $ 8 for a huge bouquet of cotton candy. I chose one of their suggested flavors, strawberry and nutella. Pretty disappointing. The nutella is like a powder that they just dust it with, didn’t really add anything for me. And the strawberry didn’t taste as good as it looked. Liked the concept, product not so much.

I ordered cotton candy for my godson’s 5^th birthday party since most kids love cotton candy. The kids were too occupied with the jumper, but to my surprise these were a HUGE hit with the adults. I ordered Cookie Monster (which I LOVED!) and Nutella. We even got a few extras of cookies and cream. Needless to say, everything was all gone, but I think that’s mostly because the adults pretty much hid theirs to save for later. I have had so many people inquire where I got these from and I happily gave away the website. I will definitely be ordering more in the near future for many birthday parties that I plan every year. That also gives me an excuse to try and order different flavors!

When was the last time you had cotton candy? Have you ever seen cotton candy spun in person?
I’ve personally had the pleasure to try Sugar & Spun’s creative flavors such as cookie butter, li hing pineapple, PB&J, berries n cream, nutella with freeze dried strawberries, cookietella, salted chocolate peanut butter, mango and another one topped with candied bacon (from the Bacon festival in San Jose on July 4^th). My favorite flavors are li hing pineapple, cookie butter, mango and PB&J. I have YET to try all of them and feel like a big kid whenever I eat it.
These guys come up with so many different flavors that they’ve got me coming back for more. My nieces love it and I’m thinking about how great these little tubs would be for a children’s birthday party. I also hear that you could customize it with your personal labels. How fun would this be!
Lastly, I highly recommend YOU to try it if you haven’t already! Come experience your cotton candy spun in person. You can ask for a bouquet or a tub to go OR leave with both! Why not!!!

Was looking for a dessert kind of snack at Movies in the Meadow in San Mateo and found it in Sugar & Spun’s cotton candy. It’s unlike any cotton candy you’ve likely ever had!
Chances are you grew up with pink and blue cotton candy. I don’t even know if they were supposed to be flavored. «What flavor is it?» «Pink.» Sugar & Spun’s cotton candy is so much more than this.
Interesting flavors/​flavor combinations! They have not only flavored cotton candy but also flavored «mix-​ins». We went ahead with a pineapple cotton candy with mango mix-​in and it was pretty tasty with a solid pineapple flavor. I also got a couple of tubs to take home, one each of salted chocolate peanut butter and banana & nutella. Both of these had assertive, strong flavor and tasted very much like they should.
Is designed cotton candy the next big thing? I don’t know, but I know that Sugar & Spun provided a fresh take on tired old carny-​style pink/​blue cotton candy. Try it out if you see them around!

What a great treat after x-​amount of miles ran. We had a HUGE box filled with containers of cotton candy. Two flavors, Spiced Mango and Cookie Monster.
SPICED MANGO — wow. It’s not spicy spicy but it can get spicy. The mango flavor is much more stronger at the beginning, after several bites the spicy will take over. My first time ever having mango cotton candy and I AM SOLD!
COOKIE MONSTER — their version if cookies and cream but in a cotton candy form. I love many things cookies and cream and enjoyed this flavor as well. It’s not as sweet as the other one, it reminded me of a very light flavor of the cream in an Oreo.
Love this stuff!
Will I be back? You don’t have to ask me twice.

As I’ve grown older, I’ve somewhat lost my sweet tooth. I mean, I still eat sweets but I cannot stand desserts and candies that are overly sweet. So it’s always great when a dessert-​maker offers some flavors that are less sweet. Sugar N Spun does that.
The first flavor I tried was cookie butter and I was hooked. It was good! Reminded of a gingerbread taste. It had a good balance so it wasn’t super sweet.
I bought two more buckets: Li Hing Pineapple and Salted Peanut Butter. Overnight, my dad had eaten half of the Li Hing Pineapple and given the other Salted Peanut Butter cotton candy to his friends because it liked it THAT much. He likes it that much! He’s been asking me to get him more but I haven’t had a chance to go pick up more.
If you’re wondering where you can find Sugar N Spun, they’re at Off the Grid Fort Mason every Friday! They are also available for party favors and company events! At Fort Mason, a bucket was about $ 5 for one and $ 9 for two (if I remember correctly). They last for 2 weeks if unopened and 1 week after you open them.

I don’t normally eat cotton candy… but Sugar & Spun has got it down!
I was at the Mary Blair opening night gala at the Walt Disney Family Museum and these guys were there giving tubs of cotton candy to guests. It was the perfect opportunity to try ‘em out after hearing good things about their peanut butter & jelly flavor.
PEANUT BUTTER + JELLY
Was amazing! Many people just recall the «strong peanut butter» but pay just a little bit more attention and you can taste the transition from strawberry to peanut butter. I have no idea how they do it but it’s intriguing and quite enjoyable.
BANANAS + NUTELLA
I mostly taste the banana flavor. The chocolately-​nutty flavor is very subtle. When I shared this one with a few people, only one person tasted nuts more than banana. Still good though.

I freaking love love love cotton candy! I’ve got the pleasure of tasting Sugar & Spun cotton candy creations at various Unilocal events & it’s all been über yumminess!
The one that super stood out in my mind is the Peaches-​n-​Cream one! Omg soo delish! I’m like mind-​drooling now thinking back about it while I’m typing this review. Hehe…

To be honest, I am not really a big fan of cotton candy. But when I found out that there were all sorts of flavored cotton candy, my eyes and my mouth got way too excited.
Sugar & Spun appeared at a Unilocal Elite Event in San Rafael where there were 3 good-​looking men (Anthony, Nate, and Justin) handing out free samples in small containers of flavored cotton candy.
I was able to get a taste of their Chocolate Banana and the Salted Chocolate Peanut Butter and «Oooh myyy Godddd». The cotton candy literally melts in your mouth with the flavor just spreading all over your tongue (too descriptive? Sorry) I think my favorite between those two would have to be the Salted Chocolate Peanut Butter. I think if I were a fat little girl still I would be devouring about 20 something containers full of these bad bad boys. BUT, I am not that kid anymore so I have to resist.
I was able to try their Cookie Butter and Nutella, Strawberries, & Banana and oh dear did I get hooked. The Cookie Butter was good and interesting but I really liked the Nutella, Strawberries, & Banana one because it had bits of pieces of dried strawberries and bananas in it. And the NUTELLA. How can you not enjoy the sweet taste of nutella tingling your palates.
As much as I am a health freak (kinda), I am going to come back and have one bite of each of the flavors I want to try (i.e. Cheesecake, Chocolate Pumpkin, Matcha Green Tea Latte, Spiced Mango… okay maybe almost every flavor on their menu).
I’d have to say, these guys are brilliant for coming up with this idea of having unique flavored cotton candy.
So if you love cotton candy or don’t like it that much, you will definitely get a little addicted to Sugar & Spun’s flavored cotton candy. It brings out the fat little kid in you! :P

I’m almost positive you’ll never look at cotton candy the same way ever again! At least I won’t. I recently had the opportunity to experience the Sugar & Spun product at a recent event I attended in San Rafael and let me tell you, these guys have taken cotton candy to an entirely different level. Simply put — it’s cotton candy on steroids and you’d never even know that it’s made entirely with all organic, all natural, raw ingredients.
We tried two different flavors, Chocolate Banana and the Salted Chocolate Peanut Butter. The cotton candy itself has an extremely light and airy feel, without all that extreme stickiness you normally get at the state fair. The chocolate banana leans more towards the banana flavor with touches of chocolate coming through as you’re devouring it. The salted chocolate peanut butter had an are-​you-​fricken-​kidding-​me taste to it. Easily my favorite of the two and it reminded me of eating a Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup in cotton candy form. I could’ve eaten an entire case of it.
I wish we could’ve tried more of their flavors but this was a great sneak-​peak at who Sugar & Spun is and what the creative minds behind it are doing. With other flavors like Cereal Bowl, Four Barrel Coffee, Cookie Butter or Peaches & Cream I’ll definitely be searching for these guys next time I venture into the Bay Area. Impressive stuff.

Nothing quite evokes childhood nostalgia like cotton candy.
So much so that you will find me at the cotton candy section at Moonstar buffet, my dad’s favorite restaurant giving the stare of death to any rude AzN twerps (old and young) who dare cuts in front of me. Shiet, it’s the only section that won’t give me the Hershey squirts so I’m getting my $ 27 worth dammit.
Sugar & Spun now brings that childhood nostalgia to San Franciscans like nothing I’ve seen before.
A Frozen Kuhsterd spin-​off, Sugar & Spun offers refined, gourmet cotton candy using all organic and raw ingredients. They offer Asian inspired flavors like Li Hing Pineapple, Polvoron, Chocolate Black Sesame, and Matcha Green Tea Latte. On my first visit, I tried the Cereal Bowl which had a very subtle milk base and bits of crunchy corn flakes:

On my second visit, I couldn’t resist getting the Li Hing Pineapple as li hing is impossible to find in the city (mainly found in Hawaii):
. The pineapple base was sweet and the li hing (plum powder) added the familiar salty, tart, and sweet layer that I love. I know li hing may sound funky but don’t knock it until you try it; the Hawaiians coat anything and everything with it including candy and fruit. Sugar & Spun uses it very sparingly so it didn’t make my mouth pucker as it usually does.
The guys at Sugar & Spun insisted that I try their favorite flavor: Salted Chocolate & Peanut Butter. At first, I was like whatevers because I don’t care for chocolate much. Last night as I was once again catching up on my awesomely terrible Lifetime movies, I decided to crack open the Salted Chocolate & Peanut Butter. I took one bite and OHHH EMMMM GEEEEE… it was like eating an fluffy clouds of Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup without the guilt. I killed the entire container in less than 2 minutes. Oppsie. I’m usually a li hing feen but I now see why the Salted Chocolate & Peanut Butter was their favorite. This was definitely my favorite flavor of the three I’ve tried so far.
Now if only Sugar & Spun can have the FOBulously revolting Durian flavor available (
). Let me tell you, it will be the best stank that will ever touch your lips. Mmmmm…
