Excellent service. David rebuilt a 50-​year old wind-​up two-​chime schoolroom clock that no one else would touch, to perform better than it did when new! Very friendly and knowledgeable about clocks – and a lot if other things. Gotta be patient because repair may take awhile – mine took a couple of months – but he WILL come through big time (excuse the pun). Highest recommendation for click repair!

I recently had a need to have a clock repaired. I’ve had this ‘40s mantle clock for over 30 years and was very concerned that it receive proper attention. After reading the reviews here on
, I chose Smith Clock Company. David was very pleasant and professional when I dropped it off, and when I picked it up a month later (an OK time with me) and brought it home, I couldn’t be happier! Over the last two weeks, it is has been keeping perfect time, and it has never run so smoothly. I couldn’t be happier and would recommend Smith Clock Company to anyone!

Brought a family grandfather clock in as I had just had the motor replaced but the hands kept stalling.
David replaced the hands, recessed the motor correctly so it would not hit the glass and replaced a missing nut.
$ 12 and some entertaining conversation later it was better than new.
All repairs should be like this.
Just watch out for the mid-​day street cleaning on the side streets.

Mr. Smith obviously knows a lot about clocks. He was helpful and honest about what he could and couldn’t do. I’m giving him 4 stars instead of 5 because he took quite a long time to fix our clock and never called to tell me it was done. (I had to call a few times to check in) Overall, he was a very friendly man and is clearly very skilled at what he does.

I’d driven past the shop many, many times and didn’t have a reason to go in until I was given a beautiful wall clock that I needed help with. I went into the shop, it’s a beautiful oasis and was much different than I expected based on how the shop looked from the outside.
David is a true professional and seems to have an endless fount of knowledge about clocks. He came to my house to hang my 100 year old three weight Gustav Becker and did an amazing job for a very reasonable price.
As the other reviewers noted, he’s a very gregarious, entertaining man who I probably could have talked to all day but needed to get back to work myself.
If you have a clock you need help with, this is your man.

David Smith is quite personable and a very good clocksmith. He brought my century-​old banjo clock back to life for a very reasonable price. He explained the repair in detail and gave me some tips to keep it running reliably. He is also a huge jazz fan and loves to chat about it. In this age of digital clocks, he is truly a renaissance man. John Harrison (look it up) would be proud.

The owner is a riot, and also knows a lot about antique timepieces. Our movers broke the glass in an old clock, so Mr. Smith sent a replacement piece to an artisan who handpainted it in gold, very closely replicating the original. The final price and turn-​around were quite reasonable and we are thrilled with the result.
But the best part of the experience is chatting with David Smith — if you have a few moments to spare, you’ll be treated to a hilarious stand-​up comic routine weaving together relationship stories, the joys and pitfalls of being passionate about your work, and observations about life and people that will make you long for simpler times when running errands didn’t feel like a mad rush.
Maybe after visiting his time-​stands-​still shop, you’ll feel compelled to spend the rest of the day strolling around the neighborhood talking with other interesting folks who have stories to tell and the time to tell them.
