My new favorite place to be. If you’re at all interested in learning how make jewelry, this is the place. Classes are an excellent value, the teachers are amazing, and the possibilities are infinite.

This review is long overdue, we had our wedding bands made with Adam more than a year ago. However, we want to make sure to write a review for him to express our appreciation.
The whole process took about 8 – 9 hours in total, and Adam was very very patient guiding us through all the steps with explanations as how things should work and what to expect. (We had to step out of his workshop during noon time for a couple of hours, which essentially made our appointment with him go until almost 9 PM but he was a very good sport about it.)
It’d be a very long review if I go through all the steps but the main things I’d like to mention are: fun, friendly, informative, and memorable, you can expect them all.
Just a small note for those who are planning to bring in your own material: sanding took away half of the weight of our rings, normal rate seems to be ~25%, (something to keep in mind). However, we really love the end product, our hand-​made wedding bands, a truly amazing kind of experience.

Adam is amazingly smart and patient and guided me through making *both* our wedding rings in a single day (husband is blind). We hit it off right from the beginning because we were able to chat about everything from alloys to the jewelry business to his dog, and the day flew by until I walked out at 5pm with shiny, flawless pieces that are a hundred times more meaningful because they are handmade.

We went to make our wedding bands here last month with Adam. It was an amazing day — Adam is a great patient teacher and all designs are possible. Adam is a true jeweler and very inspirational to work with. The whole day was very laid back and relaxing but also really productive. His studio is fantastic — part science lab, part school and part smithy/​forge. Under Adams expert guidance we really made 2x rings from scratch through every step. Our design is quite organic and therefore unique. The price point is also great — cheaper than many factory produced mall jewellers. It is clear that Adam runs the ring-​making out of genuine interest in his highly skilled craft and it really shows. We will definitely go back to make something else in the future. We got exactly the rings we wanted and learned so much about jewelry making that it would be hard to buy anything «premade» again. Could not recommend it more highly — thanks Adam for an amazing day and a pair of perfect rings!

It’s been almost a year since my wife (then fiancé) and I were at the Scintilant Studio making our wedding rings, but I still think about the experience so much that I finally decided to write a review. Adam was our teacher (he’s also the owner) and he was just plain awesome. We came in at 8 or 9 am and he proudly brewed all of us some cappuccinos using his Italian made espresso machine. We then promptly started our workshop by melting my wife’s grandparent’s wedding rings down and adding some gold from a Krugerrand (a South African coin) to bring up the gold content. This was actually super cool because instead of just adding some scrap gold that he had around, Adam busted out this shiny new South African coin and just clipped a piece of it off. How cool is that?
We spent the next 8 or 9 hours honing and crafting our rings until they were absolutely perfect. And Adam really would have it no other way. He is so into his craft and is so knowledgeable it truly is amazing & inspiring. He really takes pride in his craft and it shows. Throughout the day he would drop jewelry making knowledge & history as well as just random interesting stories and facts that really made our day and made us feel connected to him. At lunch time we went down the street and got some delicious sandwiches and hung out with Adam on the back porch just shooting the breeze. The whole day just felt like we were hanging out and it allowed us to relax and pour our love into each other’s rings.
I would very highly recommend anyone interested in making jewelry to come by Scintilant and specifically to work with Adam. We had an amazing experience and I don’t doubt for a second that others will too.

My fiancé and I just made our rings though their Wedding Ring Workshop. Neither one of us had had any metal work experience, and although excited, we were a little nervous about the experience. We shouldn’t have been. Adam Clark is as wonderful a teacher as a person could ask for. Not only did we learn a lot and have absolutely beautiful wedding bands, we had an incredible day doing it!
I completely recommend Adam as a teacher and Scintillant Studio as a school so much that both my Fiancé and I can’t wait to take more classes with him. Which is saying something, since we live in the Central Valley and it is a 2 hour drive for us.

Adam Clark, our instructor/​coach/​guide for the day was fun and kind and definitely knew how to make me feel like I could do everything myself, even though I had never made jewelry before and was a bit overwhelmed at times.
Now we have two amazing, unique rings that will be part of our history forever, and also the memory of a truly special day working in the workshop.

I’ve been looking for a jewelry metal-​smithing educational outlet since arriving in the bay area a few years ago. I am surprised that it took this long to find one, but I’m glad that I have found Scintillant Studios.
Firstly, the studio isn’t tucked away in a mass-​transit-​starved location in The City, which really helps with fitting into my post-​work commute route. The instruction is excellent, the class schedules are flexible and the studio is well-​equipped. The class is structured to let students work at their own pace and the instructors are willing to hold your hand when you need it and they leave you alone when you want it. If you’re interested in a technique, ask an instructor and you’ll get an answer; this may sound like a «duh» but I was surprised at how some other place wanted to keep all students at an identical pace despite there being different levels of experience of the students.
I have caught the bug and I want to do more and I’ll be doing it at Scintillant (that sounded kinda weird, but you know what I mean).
I love it.

This place is amazing. The instructors are really supportive, kind and very good teachers. I’ve learned so much in just a few weeks and am inspired by all the different techniques and effects that they’ve taught.
Am taking the advanced level class soon and am very excited for classes to start up again. It’s a great place you can lose yourself in for hours.

Scintillant Studio has won me over and I have only attended my second class. The atmosphere is so laid back (complete with vino & snacks), the instruction is thorough and the classes are small (6-​ish) people. Also, located just of the BART in the heart of the Mission, the classes are easily accessible.
Adam Clark is a fun person to learn from and seems to be an endless supply of information. This studio of his is brimming with tons of fun tools to mold your metal in to submission.

Scintillant Studio is a great place to learn the intricate art of metalsmithing. Generally focussed on jewelry construction, you can learn the building blocks to metal art and the aesthetics of sculptural adornment. I had the fortune to take the beginning class from Scintillant’s owner, and master metalsmith, Adam Clark. This is the perfect format for adult learners… at your own pace, and focussed on what YOU want to learn. There are many routes one can take with metal art, and Adam and staff are eager to cultivate the aspects of the medium that turn you on. The studio environment is also great to learn from those who are currently working as commercial artists.
They offer small group classes for all ability levels. The classes cost a little bit, but when you think of the value of the material covered in that cost, it isn’t bad at all. Materials for working in this medium can be pricey, especially with the recent influx of gold and silver prices in the last few years. The studio has great equipment, and keeps lots of gems and precious metals on hand for you to purchase for special projects (at very reasonable prices).
