History

Established in 1999.

1999 Sapient Photography and Design was founded San Diego California. 2003 Moved business to Berkeley, CA. 2008 Moved and started a portrait, wedding, and fashion studio in San Francisco’s SOMA District.

2011 — We are moving again and rebranding as «Sapient Studios» for the grand opening of our new flagship photography studio in Union Square.

Currently I am a Photography Coordinator and Editorial Assistant for 944 Magazine, San Francisco City Hall, Dan McCall Catering, French Tuesdays, Western Athletic Clubs, Otis, Yoshi’s, Brooklyn Circus, Starlight Room, Desired Temptations, Max Vangeli Productions, Latino A Morir, Slide Ultra Lounge, Supperclub, Infusion Lounge, Matrix Fillmore, just to name a few.

Business Owner

Professional photography has been a way to intertwine my love

of people and social interaction with my artistic vision and passion

as an entrepreneur. Since my teens, I’ve been photographing a variety

of subjects from live music events to private family functions. This

path has led me to fashion, event and wedding photography in my

present life. I began my professional career as an artist in graphic

design where my skills as a photographer became a great advantage.

I feel truly blessed to live my life as an artist and have the

opportunity to perfect my craft on a daily basis. San Francisco is my

canvass and its beautiful people are my inspiration.

I love to capture emotions, special moments and helping to make them feel wonderful. When I arrive on your wedding day, I will bring with me the hallmarks of my personality, which are my smile, positive energy, calm demeanor, and relentless work ethic. I look forward to capturing moments in time of your very special day.

Filmed an interview of a subject behind white backdrop. Lights are provided and for a filmmaker thats a dream come true. Usually you have to rent lights out or a company, this becomes cost effective in many ways. No need to spend time setting up, all the lighting is already set, utilizing their high tech light grid, it was simple and fast (and i mean fast) to start shooting. If you know what you are doing, this is the kind of place you would love to do your work at.
Overall, a pleasant experience, Damien even went out of his way and took some behind the scenes footage, that is the kind of people you dream of working with.

We hired Damien of Sapient Studios to photograph two back-​to-​back corporate events for us in SF last month. He did a great job at understanding and delivering the goals we set for him through our vision of the events. Damien and his team were extraordinarily professional and his photos really captured the essence of our events. We also loved his user-​friendly photo gallery that allowed us to view all the photos and choose the ones we wanted to download. the hubs has interacted with Sapient photography several times over the years and always has great feedback. I think i’ve only been in front on their lense once recently at an opening event at Ambassador for a new series (program, parties? not sure the right term) they’re doing in night clubs interacting with designers, make-​up artists ad models in real night life settings. Very interactive, very creative and unique. Damien and his wife are charming and their work is very high quality and professional. If your’e in the need of a photographer I’d definitely check them out.

Wow, I can’t believe its been 2 years since I have first met Damien. He and I have worked together on more than one occasion and I am so excited for every chance I get to work with him. Whether its in his Studio in SoMa or somewhere in the SF Scene, Damien is all over the place looking for that perfect shot. He has been a pleasure to work with everytime.
If you have the opportunity to shoot in the studio Cross your finger Moira is around. She is a doll that loves to help out. She is super friendly and always willing to share the Pop Crisp :-)

Damien and Moira were two of the friendliest, most helpful people I have come across in this industry. Not only is Damien an AMAZING photographer but the studio is comfortable and they are both so creative. The overall experience was smooth, fun, productive and the pictures he took turned out better than I could have expected– and way beyond any pictures I could have imagined or conceived of without their vision, assistance and delivery of an outstanding service. I had a great time during my photoshoot. I am so NOT photogenic but Damien made me feel very comfortable. The photos turned out fantastic, and Damien knows just the right angles and poses to make them look phenominal. And he gets just the right shot with the best lighting.
If you are looking to have extraordinary pictures taken, this is the place to do it. I will be back.

Damien is fantastic! I asked Damien to take pictures at a big private party I was organizing, and it was the best decision I made. Damien is very friendly and outgoing, and is able to make guests feel comfortable, special and beautiful. Aside from the picture-​taking, I can honestly say he actually added to the party through his fun presence and interaction with guests (and it gives guests an excuse to ham it up!). He fits right in with any hip and upscale SF crowd, and people enjoy talking to him, so it feels very natural to have around, all the while he is clicking at a rate of 100 pictures/​hour! If you’re on the fence — give it a shot. And take a look at how great his images are!
