S&L Realty was founded in Laurel Heights in 1975 and is now operated by Robert Link and Elizabeth Koch as a sales brokerage and property management company serving the needs of buyers sellers and investors of real property in San Francisco.

Robert Link is the broker principal and has served on Board of Directors of San Francisco Apartment Association SFAA for the last 9 years and currently is serving the 3rd year as Board President.

Robert Link is a member of the following real estate trade organizations: SFAR, CAR, NAR, SFAA, CAA, and PPMA.

Robert Link is a native San Franciscan and has attended and graduated from Saint Ignatius College Prep and San Francisco State University. Robert first became a CA real estate licensee in 1995. Robert currently owns rental property in San Francisco and Oakland.

He became the broker principal of S&L Realty in 2009. In 2010 he became the Board President of the landlord trade organization, SFAA.

Currently serves on the Board of Directors of California Apartment Association, CAA along with active participation in local landlord advocacy groups.

A multi– family investment specialist, Robert has keen knowledge of SF apartment market and its real time trends relative to market changes and the ever changing landlord tenant law.

I have been in a flat managed by Rob, Kurt and Liz Link of SL Realty for six years now, and feel so lucky to be in such good hands. I feel they genuinely have my interests at heart, and want to make my living experience as comfortable as possible. They are responsive to maintenance requests, and even helped mediate a little tiff with a neighbor at one point (the neighbor and I have not had a problem since, and it was 4 years ago). They are extremely approachable and down to earth people and take their job very seriously.

My husband and I wish to speak up about the fantastic team of Robert, Liz and Kurt Link of S + L Realty.
They’ve managed the apartment building we live in and very much appreciate their professionalism, quick actions dealing with problems, friendliness and persuading the owner to spend money on her building.
Before S + L was hired to manage our building in the Mission, it was a constant headache just trying to get our calls returned from the owner, who lives out of state.
Now, whether we need plumbing repairs or the internal fire alarm system or electrical wiring need maintenance, the Links get a contractor here sometimes in hours and stay on top of problems until they’re solved.
We also want to thank them for performing a miracle. As I write this, painters are on the scaffolding outside our front windows preparing to slap some new colors on the façade. The owner should have repainted the building years ago.
We don’t know how, but the Links team persuaded the owner to finally upgrade her building with a fresh coat of paint — something we thought would never happen!
Final point. When we had a rodent problem because of work being done on a neighboring building, a few rats were getting into the basement and we found one dead on a weekend.
Kurt himself came out and removed the dead rodent, on a weekend, and the next week had a pest control company care dealing with the problem.
Yes, we’re fans of the Links!

Liz found us our dream home in Marin. She was able to close the deal despite multiple offers and worked late in the evenings revising our counter offer.
Liz worked tirelessly showing us numerous properties and was always upbeat with thorough research such as what the homes previously sold for and what would make a competitive offer.
We had some complexity regarding the timing of our deal and Liz was on top of the critical dates as well as tracking the various inspections and disclosures.
Working with Liz also has the benefit of getting input from her brother, Rob, and her father, Kurt, who are experts in not just closing deals but recognizing whether a particular home is a sound investment or not. As a first time homebuyer, this experienced intel had a significant impact on our ability to make an informed decision.

Liz and Robert at S&L Realty are incredible people; professional, efficient and compassionate. I rented from S&L Realty in 2008 and again in 2013. I returned because I know they only rent clean, updated, and high-​quality properties. They maintain their buildings inside and out, any needed repairs were made quickly, and it is clear they are a company committed to taking care of tennants.
When I was disorganized, they were patient. When I had changes with my timeline; they were flexible. When I visited the sunny main office on Geary, I was greeted with friendliness. They made our communication super easy and pleasant. I will continue to recommend friends, coworkers and family to check their rental and sale properties.
I would like to mention that I have rented from agencies in Chicago, San Diego, and Oakland. San Francisco is the most competative and complicated city I have found with regard to rent. No other agency has offered service the way S&L does.

Edit: This review is for a particular individual S&L Realty works with.
One of the most unprofessional real estate agents I have come across in my 3 years of living in the Bay area.
1.) Tatiana puts up the ad on Craigslist but doesn’t have time to show the place (she was busy attending a concert). So she lets random people in by themselves after telling them the entrance code over the phone! If you would give ANYONE the entry code, what’s the point of having one?
2.) They want Cashier Checks to be dropped off at a random address over the weekend without anyone being there. NO Thanks!
3.) Wants me to sign the contract without even meeting a single agent and walking through the place with them! Again, NO Thanks.
4.) Unnecessarily pressuring me to get into contract and sign a one-​year lease because ‘someone else’ is ready to go. I ask can we meet and talk once? Again Tatiana is so busy she doesn’t have time. Probably going to another concert, who knows?
Well if you don’t have time to come down for a showing or to meet a prospective tenant and answer their questions — shouldn’t you be in another profession, let’s say phone support for a 1 – 800 line?
Too bad because it was a good apartment AND I was offered the place in the end. But I said No because I don’t like to work with the worst agents in San Francisco.

I am so thankful I found Rob Link and S&L to manage my condo in SF. I had moved back east to care for my parents and left my condo as is for over a year. I finally had the time to fly back to pack and ship my belongings but had no time or clue how to update and rent my unit from 3000 miles away. Enter Rob and his amazing team. The day after I left SF and the empty condo that had been my home for 22 years Rob had painters in to paint the entire unit including the repair work to the walls. Next came the installation of the hardwood floors, followed by the delivery and installation of all the new appliances. While I had approval over all the updates, I had none of the effort required to line up and schedule all the work needed to make my unit competitive in the SF market. I was sent photos of all the work and of the finished product. My place never looked better. Rob found a great tenant within the month and now my condo is rented and profitable. He has proven to be reliable and capable and I look forward to a long and mutually beneficial relationship.

My husband has asked me to write a review on his behalf. He’s not one to Unilocal or use social media to write reviews, etc. but he is so pleased with his experience with Rob Link at S&L Realty that he wanted to share it with everyone.
S&L Realty manages his family’s apartment complex in San Francisco and they have done an excellent job. They are very professional in everything they have done for the complex, from remodeling the units, quickly finding new tenants, keeping up with the maintenance, to promptly answering any questions/​concerns. They have definitely turned the apartment complex around and now it is doing great!

I’m not entirely sure why this realtor has a 5 start rating on Unilocal.From my own personal experience, I found Robert to be arbitrary and discriminatory. At first, he was genuinely nice, but one week later, after my family and I had submitted our applications, he went MIA and stopped returning our phone calls. We called his agency multiple times, and left him multiple messages and voicemails, and he never got back to us. A week later, we found out that the whole time he wasn’t planning on accepting our application, but didn’t feel that it was necessary to let us know. I would never recommend Robert to anyone I know after the experience my family and I had with him.

For a long time SFer I thought I could take care of my apartment while I was away for an extended time out of state. Finally I decided to get management company S&L to help me manage my apartment and leave it to the pros.
Enter S&L.
1. They gave me a comprehensive price to manage my apartment with multiple services. I had to look at it 2x to make sure it was real as it was way better than the chains. Its because they are local and dont have stupid overhead charges like processing and fees that they add on and then remove to make it look attractive. No thanks.
2. When I had to move new people in? No worries… walkthru done! Evaluation of house? Done! Bullet proof contract? Done. Security Deposit? Wired! Items that were laying around that needed to be hauled off? Done!
3. S&L staff took care of the small details with the place and you know how hard it is to get a legit contractor in the city to do the work. S&L has a great relationship with their guys and very professional.
4. All the tenant evaluations were done via email with writeup and personal notes answering my specific questions and concerns!
5. Their team even picked up documentation that I was supposed to «own» scanned it and sent me a copy after forwarding it to my processor!
Hands down best team I have worked with, approachable, and being local know the housing market, and will not lay on layers of BS other companies will to take advantage of SF redhot market. Honest and they go the extra mile to make sure you dont have to!
I know my apartment is in good hands…

My boyfriend and I recently moved into our new apartment owned by S&L Realty. For anyone who is unfamiliar with the San Francisco rental market, the competition is extremely fierce. With rentals leaving the marketplace hours after being advertised, the market isn’t very forgiving to the unprepared.
After researching several apartments, we came across S&L’s listing. My boyfriend attended the apartment showing and worked with Rob with all the paperwork. We were very pleased at how helpful and patient Rob was. Within the span of 4 hours (from showing to paperwork completion), we had the apartment keys in-​hand.
Also, it helps a lot that the apartment is well-​kept. According to the website, the company does renovations to San Francisco apartment. The updates to the apartment are great — the kitchen and bathroom are updated. However, the rest of the apartment retains the classic and vintage San Francisco style that we love.
We’re looking forward to working with this property management company for the next year. Thank you for helping us find our beautiful new San Francisco home.

This review is LONG overdue! I have been living in my fabulous apartment for over a year now, and I LOVE IT! Rob Link at S & L Realty is amazing. He made my apartment search quick and easy. I was in a pinch and needed a place asap and I was so lucky to find a place in his building.
My apartment is beautiful, and newly renovated… the building is kept clean and updated, it’s the best apartment I’ve lived in, in SF.

S&L is the management company for the apartment I rent. They are awesome with repairs, quick and I never have to worry about timely repairs. This Memorial Day weekend, my toilet stopped working — I sent an email. Like magic, it was like little plumber fairies came, fixed it, and disappeared! No mess, you would never even know anyone came in!

WOW. This company has the process down. I called, had an appointment to see the place within 20 minutes, I was greeted professionally and promptly by Rob Link, I was shown the place, knew I wanted to live there, applied online, Rob pushed my paperwork through, I was approved, and he sent me an electronic lease I could sign later that same day. No ink, trees, trips to Kinkos, waiting, worrying, nothing. No need for physical paperwork, the credit report was run promptly, the application to fill out online was easy and only asked the most important questions, and working with Rob and the team was a fantastic. I will update this post again when I start living there, but from an application to renter transition, this couldn’t have been better. After touring 5 places before this one and finding my initial interactions with the landlord, management company, etc to all be lacking and seeing poor Unilocal reviews on other companies, I know I will have no qualms working with S & L Realty. They are very professional and extremely kind.

I’m a concrete contractor in SF and I’ve worked with Robert Link of S&L doing sidewalk repair projects in the city for properties that S&L Realty manages.
He is the consummate professional. His communications are clear and timely and as someone who has worked hard to establish myself as the gold standard in my trade, Robert is as much so within his line of work!
Too many people in the world these days have forgotten about how important it is to give quality service to the people they work with and how to respond in a reasonable amount of time. When Mr. Link and I work together, I never have this concern.

I rented from S& L realty for 8 years and I was very happy with their service. Whenever there was something to be fixed in the apt (sink, fridge .) they always responded in a timely manner. Liz who works there is very helpful and efficient, she gets things done!

We are in love with our apartment! And we are not the only ones everyone that comes over to visit gasps when they see our view. We really did luck out when it comes to finding a beautiful, safe, and affordable apartment in San Francisco. S & L Reality made this all possible.
My husband and I were moving from Boston to San Francisco which can be hard and stressful when looking for an apartment across the country. Everyone at S & L Reality (especially Liz) worked with us to make it as stress free of a transition as possible. Whenever there are any repairs that may need to be done S & L Reality has this done within a very timely if not a surprisingly fast manner.
Not only have they been so kind and helpful to us, but when my brother was relocating to San Francisco they were equally as accommodating when he was interested in one of their beautiful units in pacific heights.
I adore the Link family that runs S & L Reality company and if you get the opportunity to rent from them you are in for a San Francisco treat.

My boyfriend and I rented a lovely little 1 bedroom at Pacific and Van Ness from S & L Realty from July 08 — July 09 and I have to say, this was the most professional renting experience I’ve ever had. Isaac found the apartment while I was still living in another city, and when I showed up, they brought the contract to my apartment to have me sign. We just received our deposit in the mail, and they sent us ADDED INTEREST accrued over the year. I’ve never heard of such an amazing thing! We had next to no problems, but they were always prompt with sending someone if we did. I HIGHLY recommend renting from these guys — you will be treated fairly and professionally from start to finish. The only reason we moved out was because we had to move to Davis, I’m amazed at the service we received!
