Jeff helped us sold a house that was located in a challenging location in Bernal Heights. The challenge was not the property itself but the location which makes us felt like there is not much to improve on our end. I have dealt with numerous realtors and transactions, but Jeff was as professional as it gets and is definitely a top notch in the real estate business. I trusted Jeff and his strategy from the on set but during the selling process when we hit the bumps, we felt a little discouraging. I was at a point of transition in my life and needed to make a change regarding my rental property/​home in San Francisco. I had tried to sell it years before and had a terribly experience, so I was terrified to say the least.

And, here’s the deal… I found him. His name is Jeff Salgado and to me he is a super hero!
After a long week of sleepless nights trying to decide whether to sell and interviewing agents, a friend graciously referred Jeff. Within 2 conversations he had lowered my blood pressure considerably and efficiently presented his evaluation of my house and the selling market.

If you use an agent once, the agent may just be ok. If you use an agent twice, the agent’s pretty good for the return service. Including my parents’ purchase (see earlier review), I’ve now used Jeff three times for a real estate purchase so that means he’s a superb agent.
It was time for me to become a real adult by getting myself a home. I was intimidated by the process and even more worried about finding a good agent because I was in a very modest price range. I contacted a few agents, including Jeff, because I figured my price range might have been too modest for him to take on. Of course, I was wrong. He was just as diligent in answering my questions without being pushy as he was with my parents’ larger transaction five years ago. In fact his first step in working with me was to introduce me to a mortgage broker to determine a realistic price range. (That introduction in itself was worth returning to Jeff because the broker was fantastic in ultimately helping me secure my loan.) This step helped to make sure I wasn’t seeing condos that were too expensive for me to afford, and by too expensive I mean I’d have to give up eating out AND shopping for the next 30 years of a mortgage!
Keeping in mind my price range didn’t allow for a ton of options in this day of mid-​six figures for a simple condo, Jeff found me the perfect condo. In fact he alerted me to the property the day it went back on the market and got me in for a same-​day visit. It was not only within my price range but actually came in significantly below what I had originally expected to pay. Let’s just say a condo in the same building and almost same layout (in fact slightly smaller than mine) was sold 14 days after Jeff closed on my property for $ 20K more. That’s a lot of handbags and filet mignon meals that I can now afford! The hardest part ended up being signing on the 30+ pages of escrow documents. I’ll now only trust Jeff with my real estate needs.

My wife and I went through a lengthy review process to find a sales agent for our single family home in SF (interviewed 4+ agents). We’re both in the online marketing/​advertising/​resume space, so… we’re a bit critical of the marketing materials, photos, marketing verbiage, etc. OK, we’re high maintenance from that perspective & hard to please. Jeff nailed it from day one. Once hired and throughout the entire process Jeff was on it and the communication was flawless. Jeff Salgado recently served as our listing agent, as we sold our unit in Noe Valley.
Jeff began his relationship with us by meeting several times and making a professional presentation, and a clean, professional, well-​spoken image.
He was patient while we sifted through some legal challenges and unexpected obstacles. While other real estate agents were pushing every potential client to sell ASAP, Jeff kept in touch without being pushy.
Jeff brought in his trusted advisors to clean up, repair, replace, and stage our place. All was done rapidly and professionally, as we were trying to catch a hot market.
Jeff and McGuire placed a lot of effort into advertising and marketing, and several open houses were very busy.
We found ourselves in a difficult market, but Jeff kept us informed with constant updates and professional advice. When we agreed, we were fine moving ahead. When I had a different thought, Jeff made his thoughts known, and then respected mine.
On top of our busy open houses (and Jeff attended 5 or 6 personally), we found our lives centered in the South bay. Jeff took over a series of small to vital tasks, such as a smell in our unit that turned out to be a gas leak, which Jeff then followed through to completion, despite the best efforts of PG&E to tell us how critical this was while they couldn’t really be bothered to fix it with alacrity.
In the end, we found an unexpected buyer, and completed the deal within a few weeks.
Jeff shepherded us through several challenges, and showed he knew the neighborhood and the market. His availability and eagerness saved me several trips from the South bay to the city, and he was professional at all times, even when dealing with a difficult interpersonal relationship in our building.

Things to note about Jeff Salgado:
–He is extremely professional. Like way more professional than some of the listing agents we met on our home search.
–He knows a TON about what sellers are looking for in a buyer (he says most of his business is as a listing agent).
–He moves quickly and aggressively. He will get you in to see a house before the brokers tour and is always available to answer your phone calls.
–He takes the time to understand what you are looking for as a buyer and works from there
–He knows the ins and outs of purchase agreements and will help you structure your offer in the way most agreeable to sellers.

I was a bit wary about wading through the sea of realtors out here in SF and had also had a few negative experiences with some of our first candidates, but Jeff had us sold immediately. From the very start, he provided a wonderful mix of professionalism and compassion. He always treated us with respect even though we are younger (never dismissed us or assumed we were just window shopping).
Jeff stayed in extremely close contact throughout the entire process and was always there to answer questions and help us strategize. He understands that a lot of this process is brand new to his clients, and explains the intricacies of real estate from that empathetic standpoint resulting in a very clear explanation from the ground up. Also, I knew he was busy only from seeing his listings close online or from an offhand comment about a property here and there, otherwise I felt like I was his only customer. I believe he used his listing agent experience and reputation to bolster our offer strategically. It is a crazy time to buy now, yet we beat several other bids to get the first house we were serious about. When our inspection turned up some problems that needed to be negotiated out of the price, again Jeff came up with a systematic plan, executed it, and we got above our target adjusted price. In a high tension situation like that, it was extremely crucial to have someone with a plan derived from experience, and that is exactly what Jeff brought to the table.

What possessed me not to turn away this door-​2-​door bell-​ringer one December afternoon?
Long story long: I was ready to sell and the McGuire man was there at the most opportune time. Mr. Salgado is truly a master of his profession. Jeff is simply as good as it gets. Jeff worked tirelessly through the entire home-​buying process with me in figuring out the perfect home. My new home is seriously THE PERFECT PLACE FOR ME.
I first met Jeff in January 2010 at an open house he was giving in Noe Valley. I was impressed by his attention to details, his expansive knowledge of the market, and his willingness and dedication to help me — a person who is completely indecisive in purchasing her first home. He was able to answer every question I threw at him — this is particularly impressive since I’m a lawyer by day.
Jeff was always actively helping me in searching for a home. And it was really my schedule that limited the homes I could look at. On the very same day in the early afternoon, Jeff and I looked at the condo — it was perfect. I didn’t know it at the time, but perfect became even more perfect… with free shuttles to downtown, an on-​site gym, two blocks from the AT&T ballpark, and the Giants winning the pennant yesterday resulting in increasing real estate value (but we can explore these topics later!). Back to July, within literally 2 days, I was in contract. The rest is history, and I am now a happy homeowner in one of the best parts of the city — thanks so much to Jeff!!!
