I specialize in work, performance, and sports related injuries. I am most concerned with treating causes rather than symptoms and therefore focus on rehabilitative exercise, postural education, and ergonomic consultation in addition to utilizing standard chiropractic procedures such as spinal and soft tissue manipulation. My techniques include craniosacral therapy, the McKenzie protocols, and deep tissue mobilization. I treat back, arm, and leg pain, headaches, and any other musculoskeletal condition. Although people generally come to my office in pain, I am a also a strong believer in wellness care and recommend Chiropractic care to prevent the onset of symptoms. I do not routinely x-​ray patients unless it is clinically indicated such as in cases of accidents or injuries where a fracture or underlying pathology is suspected. I believe a doctor should be a teacher, a master technician, and a compassionate healer. This is what I strive to be.

Established in 1987.

My Chiropractic practice began in 1987 as one of the first Integrative Health Centers in San Francisco, combining the work of Chiropractors, Medical Doctors, Acupuncturists, Massage and Movement Therapists, and Psychologists. Ricky Fishman is a wonderful chiropractor. He is extremely knowledgeable about the human anatomy and how best to approach healing. I injured my back during a routine workout and went to see Ricky two days later. He immediately diagnosed my problem and started treatment. Not only were the adjustments very relieving but he also gave me stretches and movements to do between treatments. His years of experience and breadth of understanding of the human anatomy are quite obvious from the first few minutes in his office. I HIGHLY recommend going to see Ricky if you are in need of any type of chiropractic care. I have seen atleast siz different chiropractors over the years in the various cities I have lived in and rank him among the best. Do yourself a favor and stop looking — go see Ricky!

What I like about Dr. Ricky’s practice is that his goal is to get you feeling better in as few sessions as possible, versus having to come in multiple times to get better like many other chiropractors do. I went to see Dr. Ricky for shoulder pain and after only one session the pain that had bothered me for weeks completely went away! All it took was some adjustments, some exercises Dr. Ricky showed me how to do at home, and ice. I’ve returned to Dr. Ricky to have him adjust my lower back since I sit a lot during the day. Feeling much better, thank you!

Ricky is THE MAN. I have seen other chiropractors before, but was never overly impressed. Ricky’s personality and technique are unmatched. I thoroughly enjoy every crack of back and joke that we share over the 30 minute sessions. I’ve recommended Ricky to several people and they are all regulars now too, and share the same sentiment. Any time I have an ache or pain, I am often able to get an appointment with Ricky same day or at least within a day or two, and am on the road to recovery super quickly. My last stupid endeavor of moving a couch put me back in Ricky’s office, but out of bed the same day. Thanks for everything, Ricky!

I had the great fortune to discover Dr. Ricky Fishman. I recently pulled a muscle in my neck and ended lying in bed in pain, hardly able to move. I made it to his office and he spent time working on my neck and head, and within an hour the pain dropped from 8 to 4 points on a scale of 1 to 10. By the next morning I was able to get up and move and was well on my way to being fully recovered. If you are looking for the gentle healing hands of a person who really cares about you and your treament, you just found him. I canot say enough about him and I would highly recommend him to everyone.

For someone who is very hesitant in getting chiropractic care (old fears that once I started, I would need to make chiro care a regular thing… was I wrong!), I’ve been relieved to find Dr. Ricky Fishman. I saw him last August for a sore neck and the first thing that he said to me, which was EXACTLY what I needed to hear, was «This isn’t permanent». «Your neck will be normal again». And he was right. Afrer 3 – 4 treatments over the course of 3 weeks, I felt normal again. He recommended certain exercises, pilates for core strengthening, etc. He takes your entire lifestyle into consideration when recommending a treatment plan.
Fast forward to this past week, now May, I kinked my neck from a poor sleep and post a stressful week. I emailed him, he squeezed me in the next day and I am on the mend.
And, heading into Memorial Day weekend, 6:30 on a Friday night, I emailed him, he was walking out the door of his office to head home. He called me after seeing my email, and was willing to wait for me to come in so that he could adjust me to help me out of my pain. And he checked in with me this morning, Saturday. Now this is a doctor who really cares about his patients well being.
Dr. Fishman is super cool, extremely caring and compassionate, writes a very informative blog, and gets the job done.
Painfree and back to normal life again!

I’ve been seeing Ricky for over ten years. Before that, I kept trying different chiropracters, but I was never satisfied. I’ve stuck with Ricky because he’s relaxed and personable, his treatments never fail to improve whatever problem I go in for, he offers additional advice about exercise, seating, movement, etc. and the offices are really lovely.

Dr. Ricky is awesome! I have been going to him for several years and I should have written something much sooner. I am currently in my second pregnancy and during both, I have gone to Dr. Ricky and he has been a savior! He is professional, yet personable and very knowledgeable about ways to improve your aches and pains. Without him especially during my pregnancies (but even in between), I would be a very unhappy camper. You can totally trust him with your needs!

When I become pregnant, I knew that chiropractic care was going to be very important. I’ve always had back issues, and I did not want them getting in the way of a healthy pregnancy! I am so thankful that Dr. Fishman has been able to provide me with such effective care.
I have been going to Dr. Fishman for a years — on and off whenever I needed an adjustment. He’s great — caring, very in-​tune to his patients’ needs. Now that I am in my third trimester, I am even more diligent about going (being pro-​active about adjustments rather than waiting for something to go out).
To be honest, the thought of getting an adjustment when you’re just feeling big and not yourself because you’re pregnant can be a little intimidating, but I really do think it’s helped me. I feel like the pregnant chiropractic care Dr. Fishman has provided along with my pregnant yoga have been the perfect pair. That’s another big plus about working with Dr. Fishman, he’s very supportive of alternative medicine, complementary care, and always has great ideas and recommendations (but never in a pushy way). Holistic health is important to me, so I really appreciate that about him.
He has an office in the city and in East Bay — which is great! Plus, he’s open to taking clients on occasion on the weekends, which has come in handy for me when I’ve thrown my back out previously! (Thank goodness I haven’t in the last six months;)

I had my first appointment with Dr Fishman today. I went to him after seeing all the great reviews on Unilocal.He is totally amazing and more. I have been dealing with chronic back pain for the last 4years due to bulging discs in my spine. His gentle adjustments gave me immediate relief… Most amount of pain relief I’ve felt in years. I don’t think I can remember the last time I felt this good. I’ve tried all the non surgical pain management treatments in the last few years for pain relief but did not have any success. So glad I found Dr Fishman.

I have nothing but good things to say about Dr. Fishman.
To be brief, I had a half marathon over the weekend and my hips would start to hurt after running just 4 miles. Less than 2 weeks prior to the race, I finally got around to making an appointment with Dr. Fishman. I expressed how negligent I had been about making an appointment and that I had an extremely short amount of time before my race. Dr. Fishman went out of his way to make sure I had 4 – 5 appointments with him before my half marathon so I could get properly adjusted. I can’t think of any other place that would cram 4 – 5 appointments in for you in just a week and half time, but somehow Dr. Fishman at Chiromedica was able to do that for me. It’s even crazier if you think about the fact that he only works 3 days a week! Now, it’s the day after the race and my hips feel good! I was incredibly worried about them prior to the race, was able to stretch them out during the race, and felt minimal pain after the race thanks in part to Dr. Fishman’s advice and expertise.
I am so appreciative of Dr. Fishman and his willlingness/​genuine care to get me help on such a tight deadline.

I had my first chiropractic session with Dr. Fishman today and feel great! I’m very impressed by Ricky’s thorough, gentle approach. He does careful evaluation to determine the most appropriate adjustments, soft tissue work to prepare for them and educates how to maintain healthy alignment so you don’t have to keep coming back forever. He also specializes in working with musicians’ body issues and pregnant women. Highly recommended!

I went to Dr Fishman because I was having nerve pain down my arm and the physical therapy I’d been doing wasn’t making any impact. After every session I noticed a distinct difference in the pain level and now the nerve pain has disappeared! I can’t recommend him enough. Not only is he great at what he does, he also has a great personality and really listens to his patients even when they ramble (which I might be prone to doing…) Definitely go and see Dr Fishman if you need a chiropractor!

Pulled my back because of the stupid seat in my Prius. Day one was so bad i couldn’t even get in the car. Whining all the way, made it Dr. Fishman. Been to a lot of chiro’s, was very impressed with his technique. He was able to diagnosis very accuately from how I stood and how I walked and I was pain free in 20minutes! Went back the next day and have been perfect ever since. He even told me what I need to do (put a pillow to correct the back/​knee incline and do core excercises). Definitely will go back and won’t wait a day next time!!!

23 weeks into my pregnancy a sharp pain began forming in my low back and down my right side. That pain progressed to the point where I could hardly walk and each step was wince-​inducing. A friend of mine recommended looking into chiropractic care, which I’ve avoided in the past, but at this point I was feeling pretty desperate for some relief. I found Ricky on Unilocal and I’ve got to say, his care has transformed me back to my (nearly) pre-​pregnancy self. It took a couple of weeks of diligent care and exercises that he provided, but under his care I’m now able to function again without pain and am not fearing the last few months of my pregnancy. I’m super thankful I found Ricky and cannot recommend him highly enough for any pregnant mamas seeking relief.

Dr. Fishman is a terrific chiropractor. He goes beyond the 50 minute window that other providers do by calling and checking up on you after treatment. He also has a great, personable attitude that makes you feel relaxed. I am a massage therapist and holistic practitioner myself, and he is the best chiro I have come across in some time. 5*‘s and he speaks Spanish! I definitely recommend him.

I am a health care practitioner who has worked with many chiropractors, acupuncturists and massage therapists over the years. Dr Fishman is hands down my top choice for chiropractic care in San Francisco.
Ricky prioritizes patient healing and independence, and his treatment plans are effective and efficient. You will not spend years going to his office three times per week, because he truly wants to see his patients get better and go on to do all the things they love to do. To this end, Ricky offers exercises, stretches and other lifestyle modifications to his patients so they can continue their healing outside of his office.
I have dozens of patients who have experienced great results under Ricky’s care, and he has treated them with incredible skill, professionalism, respect and kindness.
I cannot recommend Ricky more highly and will continue to refer patients, friends and family in need to him.

When’s the last time your doctor took the extra step and emailed or called you to see how you are feeling after treatment?
Since the very minute I walked into his office, Dr. Fishman’s been exceptional. He listens to my issues, offers insight onto how I can use my body better, brings me into alignment and eases my aches. He offered me options for exercise to help alleviate my pain and has suggested additional stretching to incorporate a truly holistic approach to my recovery. Above all, he is compassionate and a fantastic listener and gets down to the nitty gritty, even if you don’t know what that is yet.
I would whole heartedly recommend Dr Fishman. He is fantastic.
