Queer Jitterbugs’ Queer Ballroom

I’ve always wanted to stun others on the dance floor with my amazingly flowing moves – just like in the classic movies I watched religiously growing up in the dreary Pacific Northwest (unable to leave the home due to horrific weather conditions).
Unfortunately, I lack both the knowledge, skill, and seemingly natural movements of Grace Kelly (which were no doubt the actual results of generations of selective breeding, years of Cotillion, and MGM studio magic). That, and up until now I had no idea where to go so that I could be the Omega to my Alpha on the dance floor without raising a few blue-​head/​nearly-​dead eyebrows. (Alright, I’ll admit it: and up until recently I didn’t have a dance partner…)
The Queer Ballroom is awesome! It’s a relaxed, friendly place, where you can learn how to do it right [dance, that is… sheesh, people!].
I’ve had one class by Burnie on the Tango at Magnet, which prompted me to drag my sweetie out, grab his hand, and learn the Foxtrot and Waltz at their studio. It was amazingly fun (and seriously romantic). We’re going back for more to prepare for the Black & White Ball in 2012. I highly recommend this to any couple looking for a fun, new activity. (Or simply for friends who want to learn how to dance!)
The only drawback is that they are losing the studio space! Going to have to find a new space for private lessons with Burnie, I suppose.

I really like the Queer Jitterbugs’ Queer Ballroom space itself. It’s a nice sized room with a great dance-​floor and lots of mirrors. Feels just as a dance studio should. The Queer Ballroom has dance lessons available for many forms of swing dancing, group and private lessons, as well as dance events/​socials. It’s a safe dance environment and a great place to go dancing whether you’re queer or not. At least check out one dance if you’re shy.
