One of the workers, tall Asian guy with the glasses. I asked him to open the locked/​security for OTC meds and did not only was not helpful but was extremely rude and unprofessional. I am in customer service and boy you may need to reevaluate your career goals. Cheers and good luck to you!

This is the best walgreens pharmacy I have ever encountered.
The pharmacy staff is highly competent, efficient and pleasant to work with. They pay attention to detail and fill every Rx with the highest level of accuracy.
An exemplary pharmacy! Thanks for reviving my faith in walgreens again (all other pharmacies either take too long or get your refills wrong. Not this one!)

If you can avoid this Walgreens pharmacy, do it! Every time I try to refill anything, I’m alway on hold for at least 15 to 20 minutes. Also, when picking up, there is alway a long line and few people to help. Walgreens is normally decent but this one is terrible! Not to mention, the people here barely speak English. Rite Aid is a much better place, plus their prices/​co pays are cheaper.

The pharmacy department is useless. I’ve been waiting three hours for my Rx and the line to pickup is 15 people deep.

Tried to have a prescription filled here on Tuesday 7/​14, but the prescription got lost and the pharmacy clerk had no interest in trying to resolve the problem. I had the doctor resend the prescription on Wednesday ⁷⁄₁₅ which was resent at 6:20am, I called to check on it when I hadn’t gotten notified from the automated system that it had been filled but was ignored. Went back to the store to check on the prescription and was told they didn’t have it in stock, but got no notification about a problem (they have a system for this) and couldn’t get the prescription transferred to another Pharmacy because it was too late in the evening.
I’m glad I’m not sick or anything…

Awful. They remodeled and «upgraded» their pharmacy and it’s SLOWER. They cannot ever supply a prescription in less than 30 – 40 minutes. They get more than 1 star because they are the only 24-​hr game in town. If you need a prescription and need to wait, go to CVS.

This is a review regarding the pharmacy.
I called to check on a prescription this morning, and spoke with Tiffany. She informed me that my prescription had not yet come in, which was weird because I’d called my doctor’s office first to make sure the prescription was sent. Tiffany said she’d call my doctor and figure out what was going on. I assumed that was the end of it, but no, Tiffany actually called me back to let me know they now had my prescription and I’d be able to pick it up later today.
Thank you Tiffany, you are truly wonderful.

I asked my friend Do you think they have hair ties? Right on cue a man in a blue shirt answered Yes, right down there in this aisle. I was so pleased I picked up a hair brush which I needed for awhile. The magazine section with the Hallmark section is really cool and I liked that. My checkout was fast and easy. My clerk was Tess and she was a-​ok.

This place is really upside down. Long wait. Very disorganized. Seems like there is no manager oversee.

Since their recent «renovation», their pharmacy has been horrible. All of the people who used to work the cashiers at the pharmacy there seem to have disappeared and were replaced with people who are… incompetent and rude. Walgreens – please train your people better. Bring back the nicer people who worked here before!

This Walgreens is A-​OK.
They have essentials and it’s convenient. There is really nothing special about this location. Had a OK experience in here.

You know, for a while, as Walgreen’s automated prescription reordering came alive, and they gave us Web Access and an iPhone app, it seemed like they had it together. But for someone who has 3 on-​going prescriptions, all this great stuff just means that once or twice a month, I get to call the Pharmacy asking Why Wasn’t This automatically refilled. Or why did you change it from 90 day supply to 30 day. Or why did you change this to generic without checking that my drug plan covers the generic. And seriously, one of these types of problems occurs at least once a month.
Maybe they should just go back to that 1980s style of calling in the prescription every month. .
What is wrong with one of the biggest Pharmacy Corporations in the US, in the busiest pharmacy in SF. Is it management at the store level, or is it lack of care on the part of the staff (I never hear I’m sorry that happened), or is it an incompetent IT staff who are constantly making changes and screwing thing up, or is it corporate mis-​management?
And this has nothing to do with the current remodeling going on. This has been happening for several years.
Something that makes me feel it’s just not me is how long every customer stand up talking to a pharmacy employee or waiting for them to consult with others or ???
This place is just a mess to have to deal with.

Last time I was in it seems like their stock for kiddos has improved a lot! I would like to see them carry seventh generation (or similar) diapers, training pants and wipes – they tend to be more natural and less likely to cause skin irritations. At least this store carries some Burt’s Bees, their diaper cream is the best! I also found a good selection of medicine for babies and kids too, both homeopathic and the stronger stuff.

I want to like this Walgreens location. But when I came in for a flu shot in September 2014, pharmacy staff members repeatedly tried to pressure me to fill out a medical history questionaire (which asked if I had a variety of vaccinations or had been tested for certain conditions). They pulled this stunt after I had paid and before administering the shot. I decided that the information being requested was none of Walgreens’ business. I have been seeing my primary care physician on a regular basis, and I have had a number of vaccinations in the past few years. But they tried rejecting that response.
So after reading through this invasive questionaire which had nothing to do with influenza, I decided to not participate. Their bad attitude failed to get them the result they wanted, and drove me away as a customer (except for the occasional pack of gum).

I’ve gotten all my needs met here in the past — I grew up in the Castro and have been to this Walgreens a million times.
Recently though I witnessed an employee (older white man at the photo desk) straight up YELLING at a homeless-​looking black man in the store. The man was walking behind him and seemed to be asking the employee a question, waiting for him to answer, and the employee turned around and said loudly, «WHY are you talking to me?!» and then turned to me, rolled his eyes, and said «I’m SORRY about that!» Sorry about what? That this man was trying to ask you something? The guy looked hurt and confused and left the building.
I don’t give a SHIT if — worst case scenario — this guy regularly bothers employees or whatever. Don’t care. You don’t treat people like that, especially if they may be customers. It seemed to me to be especially motivated by his appearance — older, black and homeless-​looking. And he treated me, a white girl, with respect. Come on now.
It was a really strange experience and I will be avoiding this store from now on.

I was basically lied to, about a policy that does not exist. Pharmacist refused to fill a prescription for my husband, for pain pills following surgery. Claimed it was because he was a new patient, and the prescription was from outside the city. Yes, it was from a place called Stanford Medical Center, maybe you’ve heard of it? (And it was written on safety paper with security features, no less!) So, a prescription from Dr. Quack in the city would be okay, but not one from *Stanford*? That is the dictionary definition of stupid.
Adding insult to stupiity, she said this was a standard Walgreens policy, that no Walgreens in the city would fill it. That was a lie, as another Walgreens later said that they would fill it — however they were out of the meds at that point, so my husband had to go without until his normal CVS opened in the morning.
I’ve used Walgreens for my prescriptions for years, but will be moving all my business away from them, and encourage you to do the same.

My trusted Pharmacy. This Walgreens is closest & most convenient to me & my life. I switched Pharmacies from the WG on Van Ness & Market to this one in January after my Insurance changed & I have to say that the difference has been wonders… Enough so that I’d give this Walgreens 2 more Unilocal stars than I would possibly any of the others. I have had some problems with the Photo Lab at this location & returning prints that didnt come out the way I wanted.
Despite the high prices & tricky pointless & complicated Walgreen Rewards Card Programme, this is a one stop shop of Convenience & sometimes its just not worth it to travel to Target or Bed Bath & Beyond to save a few Dollars.
I love the Location of this Walgreens. Be well.

This place is dated, disorganized, weirdly configured, and they’re understaffed. I’m quite confused why anyone would give them 5 stars other than the fact that it’s an icon business at 18^th and Castro, and people like icons. The best experience I’ve had here was when I went for cold medication a couple weeks ago, and they had it. The worst experiences I’ve had are: One time I went to pick up a vaccine for Typhoid and they wanted $ 190 for it, even though my insurance pretty clearly covered it for $ 10. And they wouldn’t investigate it. $ 190 or nothing. Second, I went to pick up Christmas wrapping paper on December 23^rd and they only had blue wrapping paper. So I got the blue.
I’m SO HAPPY that CVS just opened 2 blocks away at Market. So much nicer.

This is for the pharmacy.
Don’t tell us that the prescription will be ready in 20 minutes when its not. You did this to us yesterday for two other prescriptions, so I know it’s not a one off thing. Just tell me it’s going to be ready in an hour if it is. Otherwise, stop lying to your customers, it’s irritating. Third strike, you’re out. We won’t be back.
