Not Just Flowers

The wedding bouquet Lisa made for me was gorgeous. I was very vague on what I wanted but she created the perfect arrangement. It even had mint! Smelled wonderful and I received so many compliments.

Not Just Flowers did the bouquet and boutonnière for our Nov 5^th 2015 city hall elopement. I contacted Not Just Flowers with a few pictures of bouquets I liked. Lisa promptly responded with a perfect description of the types of flowers and colors that I liked. They met us at city hall just before the ceremony to deliver the flowers (this was a small fee but extremely convenient) and they were far better than anything we could have imagined. It was the most beautiful bouquet I had ever seen and was extremely good quality. I brought it with me as we drove around to Sonoma and Monterey for our honeymoon and the flowers lasted the whole time. I highly recommend Not Just Flowers!

This is everything a local flower shop should be. The owners are super nice, attentive, knowledgeable, and helpful. I purchased some branches with flowers and they didn’t last very long. The owners didn’t hesitate to replace them. I was thankful because I paid $ 25. The new arrangement I got is beautiful and still thriving. The are local and live in the community which is also great. Thank you Andrei, you’re the best. Love this shop and will be a repeat customer. :D

My husband and I got married on 9÷12÷15 and we used Not Just Flowers as our wedding florist. It was important to us to use a local business, and we get flowers here every week.
Lisa and her team were amazing from Day 1. Not only were our expectations exceeded on our wedding day, but we were blown away. The flowers turned out beautifully and were exactly what we wanted. The entire process with Lisa was seamless. The quotes were accurate, and she listened to us and customized a floral experience that greatly contributed to the magic on our wedding day.
I would highly recommend working with Lisa and her team for the wedding — I honestly can’t think of one thing I’d change about the whole planning stage or day of execution. Absolutely wonderful experience.

I went here last week to look at some orchid plants. When I came back the next day, the guys recognized me immediately (and even remembered which ones I was looking at!) They helped me pick out the best one and then gift wrapped it really nicely. Their stuff is a lot more affordable than some of the other flower shops nearby in Castro too.

They should call this place «Not Flowers», because that’s what we left with!
My partner and I are getting married in a couple weeks (yay!) and we need to order boutonnieres for us and a corsage for my mom. We thought it would be nice to get them from a place in the Castro and thought of Not Just Flowers. We walked in and saw a guy working and he was talking to another guy. We figured the other guy was a customer and that we’d be helped after him, but he was working there, too! Neither of the guys said, «Hello!» or «We’ll be right with you!». They just carried on their conversation. Another worker popped out of the back room for a second and seemed busy. So we stood there for a couple minutes looking at them talk to each.
Finally, I kind of interrupted and asked the first guy if they do boutonnieres and corsages. He said they do and the second guy said something really fast like «That’s ALL we do!» but I couldn’t really understand him. So I said that we need some help figuring out the boutonnieres… and the two guys went back to talking to each other again and totally ignored us!
We stood there for a minute and kinda wandered around the store looking at the flowers.
I can understand a «We’re sorry, we’re backed up right now putting together some orders. Can you come back in 30 minutes?» or even a «We’re super busy right now and prefer appointments for special orders.» ANYTHING would have been better than what they gave us… which was nothing. It was kind of shocking!
So we left.
I doubt the guys even noticed.

We worked with Lisa to do the flowers for our wedding a few weeks ago and they were perfect!
Lisa made my bouquet and the boutonnieres, and while I thought I didn’t have any opinions about the flowers aside from no white roses, she found them in me. She helped me verbalize what I wanted, and ran with it, adding her own expertise, and keeping to local, seasonal flowers (i.e., didn’t fly anything in from another country). I loved the final product. (She also offered my mom and my now-​mother-​in-​law «nosegays» in the same vein; my mom was thrilled. We all agreed corsages for them seemed a little to «prom-​y».)
Most impressively, though, she was in charge of two massive floral arrangements for our ceremony. She rented us these large 5 foot tall silver urns, and put the most perfect, lush arrangements in there. That was another area where we had trouble verbalizing what we wanted — not sticks, or bare branches, but enough flowers to feel like they were taking up the right amount of space given the size of the room — and she just got it. She worked within our budget and gave us a discount for returning the urns ourselves.
Day of she was on time, friendly, and easy. I recommend her highly for your wedding needs!

Definitely a high quality flower shop that has some beautiful orchids. I popped in to get a modest bouquet as a host gift and found a few bouquets filled with unique and beautiful flowers. Even though they were affordable prices they weren’t filled with carnations or baby’s breath, but included some very fragrant and interesting flora. Plus the shopkeeper wrapped em up in pink ribbon for me!

I’m writing an update to my previous review: The owner gave me a call to ask me about my review and I mentioned to him that they wilted quickly. Mind you, this was on a weekend as well. He re-​arranged a new order of flowers (at no charge to me) to be sent to the recipient. While I personally have not seen the flowers (my partner has, and loves them), the customer service is what I really appreciate.

Very underwhelmed. I bought flowers from them as a spur-​of-​the-​moment decision during a morning running errands on Castro street. There was a lovely bouquet of irises and the owner offered me a deal on tulips. Came out to around $ 13, which was very reasonable. I asked the owner how long I could expect them to last and he said a week for sure.
Well the tulips started wilting in 3 days and I was left with very sad looking flowers by day 5. Probably the shortest amount of time I have had a bouquet last. I’d have been better off buying flowers from the stand on Church St. or even Trader Joe’s.

A great place to get unique floral arrangements on your way home that make it look like you planned ahead.

My bridal bouquet was amazing! Also, the boutonnière for the groom was quite impressive.
I wasn’t sure what to expect when I first went in to the shop. I was greeted by Lisa when I walked in, and I looked around before inquiring about wedding flowers. We decided on a simple City Hall ceremony, and only needed one bouquet and one boutonnière. I talked to Lisa about the kinds of flowers I liked in the shop, and she made recommendations based on what I pointed out. I wanted an interesting autumn bouquet with different textures and shapes, and was confident that Lisa would do a great job.
I was so happy when I saw the flowers on my wedding day. Everyone complemented them, and even a couple of folks on the street wanted to stop and take photos of them!
I highly recommend this shop. They have a wonderful assortment of fresh flowers, everyone was really nice and super helpful.

We are extremely happy with all the flowers Lisa and Andrey made for our wedding! Lush, modern, and elegant. Table centerpieces had a hint of mint mixed in with the flowers and the aroma was unbelievable. I am not very familiar with the varieties of flowers available, and Lisa was great to read my mind as she did just what I pictured in my imagination!

About two hours after I posted my review, the florist called me. They immediately knew who I was and where the flowers were delivered.
They were extremely eager to fix the problem and sent a fresh bouquet. The new one is absolutely stunning. Far more elaborate than the original and the flowers look brilliant. It looks perfectly fresh and and I expect this arrangement to last.
I’m so impressed. Thank you to Not Just Flowers for making this right. That’s some great customer service! They took a bad situation and complete fixed it. Well done. THANK YOU!

I wanted to send my boyfriend a big bouquet because that’s how I roll. But I thought about it at the last minute (like at 5:30pm!), so was sure it’d be impossible to get the flowers delivered same-​day. Not Just Flowers to the rescue! They were able to get my arrangement delivered the same day and didn’t hesitate for a moment. I thought, this is a 5* place. So thrilled!
But then it all fell apart.
The bouquet was far more expensive than I think it should be for such a small arrangement: $ 85 + $ 15 delivery (a Lyft would be $ 5 for the distance they were transported!) + tax. Altogether, $ 108. That’s crazy.
I ordered the medium-​sized «Fireworks: Electrifying and exciting are cram packed into every inch of this arrangement. A celebration of textured blooms from periwinkle hydrangea, fiery pincushion proteas, furry green dianthus and velvety coxcomb.»
I think they cram packed too much into the little vase? The stems of the hydrangea and dianthus were snapped, so they wilted within a day. The chrysanthemum seem just tired.
Overall, I’m disappointed. I’m so grateful that they were able to deliver on short notice, but the product itself just isn’t good enough. Such a shame.

So far I’ve gotten 2 bouquets from my boyfriend from here and they were stunning. I told my bf a while ago that I love peonies so when I returned from a trip to Lima he came here to get a bouquet (I guess he googled «florists that sell peonies»?). They were arranged well, giving them the space they need to get all big and floppy. I loved the way they wrap their flowers. When I returned from a trip to Colombia, my boyfriend shows up with a single dahlia, which I loved. Then when we get home: a beautiful bouquet of peonies with chocolate and red dahlias! Turns out the florist gifted him the one dahlia so he could surprise me. Overall I love their flowers (really, really amazing flowers!), their flower placement, their wrapping, and I hear from my bf that they are a good value. He will only shop here from now on!

I am IN LOVE with my wedding bouquet. I was a little bit skeptical, seeing as how I live 2 hours from San Francisco and couldn’t meet with the florist in person. I emailed a picture of a bouquet I wanted to duplicate, and when it was delivered to my hotel on the morning of my wedding, I was in awe. It was BEAUTIFUL, and almost dead on to the picture I sent. Very happy bride :)
