If you are looking for a good therapeutic massage this is the spot. It’s super clean and the massage therapists are on point.
Plain and simple Masja was awesome.

Just had a fantastic deep tissue massage with Masja. The massage was phenomenal. When you come in you mark on a body diagram areas of requested focus. I circled the upper neck and back and the great majority of the massage was dedicated just to that. No wasted time necessary as you can also cross off areas that you don’t need massaged.
The music was lovely, the who place smelled really nice.
Note that the rooms are only semi-​private, each room separated from the next by a curtain.

Best massage ever! I bought a three-​hour Day of Zen special from Living Social. I wasn’t quite sure what to expect, since this was my first experience with Thai massage. Once I stepped inside from the busy street, the atmosphere and people were instantly soothing. (The place also smelled wonderful.) I was given a T-​shirt and cotton pants to change into; since I’m a large person, the pants were a bit snug. I think next time I’ll bring my own. The massage takes place over and under the clothes, which actually added to my comfort level.
Jason started me off with a hot herbal foot soak and a foot and leg reflexology session. It felt wonderful. Then he led me to a quiet, fabric-​partitioned room with floor cushions and proceeded to give me the best massage of my life. I’ve had a fair number of typical Swedish and deep-​tissue massages, but they rarely go deep enough for me and I’m often left wanting more. Jason had the strength and skill my body needed, plus an uncanny ability to find all my knots and sore spots. He stretched, rubbed, pressed and pulled, then used hot compresses, until my body felt like warm taffy. By the end of the session, I pretty much wanted to marry him. I booked my next appointment on the way out.

3 hour day of zen… can you say Treat Yo Self?!. It was a few days after my wedding and I was in a desperate need of relaxation. Thank goodness I came across their groupon! I called and made an appointment for the same week without a problem.
The ambience was very relaxing. Clothing and slippers were provided to make you feel like you’re at home. My masseuse was Ida (?) a small Asian woman who I must admit had me second guessing her abilities to give me a firm massage, but boy was I wrong!
After an hour of foot reflexology she spent the next two hours tirelessly massaging, pulling, and climbing over me using the weight of her body for some firm massaging. It felt amazing! Not only was she capable, but she was also very attentive. If this place wasn’t so far from me, I would definitely make this a regular spot.

Just got done with a massage from Jason, HOLY SMOKES what a treat.
Let me start at the beginning. This place is tucked away on busy Bay Ave, in North Beach/Fisherman’s Wharf. For being such a traffic-​y zone, I was pleasantly surprised to find (metered) parking right out front. Sure it’s a Thursday afternoon but whatever, this city girl is always grateful for easy parking. The studio itself is astonishingly quiet, and dare I say it, zen like. Somehow the street noise doesn’t make it inside, and the minute I walked in I felt completely blissed out. Everyone’s talking in whispers, there’s tea waiting for you, and the whole place smells like patchouli or nag champra or some other relaxing aromatherapy stuff. Yum.
The massage itself: 10 out of 10, 5 stars legit. Jason checked in with me before we started, to clarify what I wanted in terms of pressure and focal points. He also continued to check in throughout the massage, asking how I was doing and if I needed anything. His pressure was spot on. It was strong, but still relaxing; he worked out some painful knots, but somehow I could’ve fallen asleep at any moment. My only complaint? That it didn’t last longer. My fault, and now I know better.
Thanks so much to Jason and this cute lil studio! Feeling like I finally found my zen.

This place is bliss personified. I was looking for a place to get massages on a monthly basis (and not get charged and arm and a leg). This place seems to pan out good so far. I came in for my first Thai massage and it was absolutely wonderful. Now I have an eastern membership package and something to look forward to on a monthly basis. Here’s the lowdown:
Likes
–offers a variety of membership packages (eastern or western). You get one massage a month and if you want another, you receive 30% off the other service — pretty sweet deal if you ask me
–Calm and very zen-​like location
–it smells good here
–calming tea post-​massage (it’s like the icing on the cake)
–conveniently located near a variety of shops (fishermans wharf/​north beach area), so you can get your massage and run errands afterwards
Dislikes
–semi-​private areas roped off my curtains. I was the only one there at the time but I could see how it could potentially get loud/​distracting
–not completely quiet– I could hear someone going in/​out of the bathroom. Thankfully my masseuse was so good that it was fleeting sounds and I dozed right back into happy land
All in all, a great experience and can’t wait for my next visit. Also ask for Noon if you’re looking for a great Thai massage. She’s awesome!

This was my first time trying any form of massage therapy, specifically the cupping massage (because Buzzfeed), and it was nothing less than extraordinary!
Masja was my massage therapist and she was just awesome. She was/​is kind and has a very calm, relaxing demeanor. She communicated with me throughout, made me feel comfortable, and adjusted the pressure/​intensity whenever needed.
The cupping massage was focused on my neck and back area. It feels as if your muscles are being pulled while pressure is simultaneously applied to them. It’s a very hard experience to describe but it feels amazing!

By Far, The Worst place I’ve been too!
This morning on my commute from the East Bay, Orinda, CA I called to see if there were
an open appointments. I spoke to a woman
named Tiona, she said 4:30pm was only available. After consideration, I decided I would take that slot. I was on a commute carrying 4 heavy bags; gym, computer, purse, work bag. Instead of booking my appointment she insisted I put down a
credit card number. I didn’t tell her I had
a groupon actually though she assumed and I said «yes» to indicate I did. Instead of offering to take my groupon number which I had readily for her on my phone, she was quite insistant on taking my credit card number. So I told her, honestly, I am catching my train into San Francisco in 3 minutes and I would call her in 35 – 40 minutes when off the BART train. The realistic commute time to arrive to San Francisco.
When I arrived. I first went to the gym, getting the time to call and record my credit card number, it turns I gave Tiona a number that was compromised. My bank actually sent me a new card because a series of people recently had their credit cards compromised and I, one of them. I sincerely apologize to Tiona then explained I was also changing my clothes and would get back to her at 3pm. The soonest time because I had other stuff and appointments.
Having a late lunch, Tiona called me between 2 – 2:30pm and I was just having lunch, I re-​explained that in the morning I mention I would call at 3pm, again her insistence on taking my credit card number.
This was too much customer service distress, though loyally I called at 3:15pm to confirm my appointment for 4:30pm. I was then told I was all set.
Taking public transit, I arrive to then be told the 4:30pm slot was taken. 3 times I spoke to Tiona, before leaving east bay on BART, when I called arriving to San Francisco, and when she calls at her time instead of the time I mention I can call 3pm, and then the 4^th to be told the spot was saved.
After 4 calls, you’d think this place would secure your time slot… «Not!»
I spoke to Sharron the Director, as she now aware of everything and the lady at the front said I can call Groupon to get a refund.
Well, if this is how they treat customers, with no apologies and their insistence on keeping a record of your credit card when you have a Groupon deal, my thought for them is don’t even bother to advertise.
Honestly speaking, my situation/​experience could have been by far better. Sharron could have apologized instead of inform I can get a refund as I took the time to arrive and on time. What if Tiona just booked me for the appointment in the first place?
I pray no one has to go thru what I went through with their experiences.

I bought a Groupon for my boyfriend and I, not having been there before. I was so impressed with everything about it, I had to Unilocal right away! Super clean, very quiet and tranquil, and my therapist, Too, was fantastic. I am definitely going to be a regular here…

Lovely, relaxing massage. I got a Groupon for a 60 min Thai massage and after some other DISASTROUS places, was so pleasantly surprised to have a good, normal, relaxing time here. Nice and SUPER quiet and relaxing and everyone is nice and smiling. Very affordable regular prices and the tea they give you at the end is yummy!
Much Recommend. Very Wow.

Project Zen is wonderful. I have know a monthly membership and always end up purchasing extra hour or two. Everyone is very skillful and friendly. I highly recommend it.

Purchased a massage for my dad to try and he absolutely loved it! The staff is very nice and welcoming and the décor is very nice! The water décor and background music makes it very calming and relaxing. I never tried their massage yet but my dad thoroughly enjoys it. I really like how Project Zen has many different massage types to choose from and they are very welcoming and helpful for those who are getting a massage for the first time. Prior to every visit, you specify the areas that you want more attention and areas that you don’t want a massage along with specifying the level from 1 — 5 (soft to strong). I would highly recommend coming here to for individuals who want to experience a massage for the first time. The Swedish massage is a good choice for those who are more sensitive.
Parking is readily available! There is metered parking right out front and street parking a block over! Also, if you get hungry after a massage, there is a café right next door and a Safeway across the street and a trader joe’s a block over so it is a very convenient area! A must try! :)

I’m pretty picky about massages because I have a muscular physique, and am always looking for a good neck, shoulder, and back massage. I used a groupon on this from a while back and got the Thai massage which was just what I needed:) I’ve had a lot of great massages in Thailand, and this one was decent at prices about on par with SF prices.
It’s a small place but simple and good quality are all I ask for. Thinking about trying a shiatsu or swedish massage next time to change it up!

I tested Project Zen out and really enjoyed my experience. I subsequently purchased a membership to receive a monthly 1-​hour massage. I’m three months in and I couldn’t be happier with my membership.
Today I pulled a muscle in my neck and they were able to squeeze me in after work. I described my area of concern and my therapist went to town. She was very skilled at detecting tension and pain. I enjoyed the extra care she used on my sore neck spot as she applied soothing balm to assist with the nagging tenderness in the area. I left my appointment feeling much less sore. Mission accomplished!
I’ve had multiple therapists and I have found that they are all equally skilled at deep tissue massages. The icing on the cake here is the yummy hot tea that is served after the massage.

I’m a happy customer that had went twice already (: Both times I did the Thai massage by Too, and she was amazing. I felt awesome after the massage. I was late for almost 25 mins, and she actually still did the whole hour for me. I was very appreciated. The ambience of the place is so nice and perfect, everyone is quiet and whispering, you feel comfortable as soon as you step in the store.
I got their monthly membership of $ 49, which includes a complimentary one-​hour massage every month and all 30% off after that. You can always bring your friend with you and he can also get 30% off. I would definitely recommend this place! Next time I might give Swedish massage a try.

I LOVR Project Zen. Here’s why:
1) this location is 15 minutes from my house (love supporting our neighborhood small business community)
2) it looks like a small store front from the outsize, when you step in the small lobby/​waiting area you smell the lavender salts, incense and are greeted warmly by the hostess in a low whisper
3) Jason’s deep tissue massage is out of this world! try it and you’ll know what I mean.
4) they offer neighborhood discounts and other non-​neighborhood special discounts to make it more affordable for you to take care of your body
5) everything smells nice and clean from the warm linens and robe
I will be back.

Due to traffic and Santa Con, my friend and I came in almost 30 minutes late but the staff was very friendly. They informed us that they wouldn’t be able to extend our hour long massage because there were appointments right after ours, but they ended up extending it by 15 minutes anyway!
Frankie (short for Francesca, I think) was fantastic! She applied the right amount of pressure, hit all the pressure points, and worked on all parts of my body considering that our time was cut short.
This place is similar to Suchada Thai in which you have small rooms separated by curtains. It smells really good there, very therapeutic. I would gladly come again; you should check online for Groupon deals.

Em took care of me today with a 3 hour spa treatment (1 hr reflexology and 2 hrs deep tissue). It was perfect. I asked for a little more pressure in the beginning and he turned it on! I feel like a million bucks.
Also their tea is delicious. I will be back.

Got a Groupon Deal for Project Zen on a 60 minute Thai Massage and it was exactly what I needed for my stiff shoulders! The deal was $ 35 for a 60 minute Thai massage. Regular price would have been $ 70 for 60 minutes. Score on deal!
If you’re up for a deep hand pressure that is pressed on your body, as well as some strenuous stretching, then the Thai massage is for you! They really test you on how much stretching you can really handle. They pulled and stretched my legs, worked my spine and so forth. It was as if I was having a workout stretching session!
You can opt for the Swedish massage that they offer, if you decide that Thai massage is too much!
Appointments are required!
