Every bride is unique which is why I do not offer wedding «packages». Out of the Weeds Flowers is not cookie-​cutter and neither are you. I honor your individuality and work with you to create your vision and if you don’t have a vision I will help you find it. For this reason I do not give estimates by phone or email until I have met with you, the rare exception being an out-​of-​town bride. An in-​person meeting which is complimentary in the shop gives you the opportunity to look over portfolios of work and communicate your ideas. You need to trust the person who’ll be handling your special day.

Our Philosophy: Understated Elegance

Flowers are individually exquisite natural creations so how is it that certain arrangements can look contrived, artificial or even ugly? Unfortunately the wrong combination of flowers and/​or colors can appear to fight with each other for attention and be unattractive, chaotic or even sad. The term floral «designer» is a misnomer as we prefer to call it floral «observer». Each flower is already designed by nature. It is our job to allow that innate beauty to show through by combining complimentary flowers and colors. Even the most decorative arrangement should appear natural and pleasing to the eye with the right combinations of color and texture whether monochromatic, high-​contrast, lush or sparse.

Business Owner

Out of the Weeds Flowers was established in 1996 by Mary O’Connor, an art college graduate with a BFA in painting. She studied and worked in Europe including floral design in Paris. Even though she is noted for lush hand-​tied European style bouquets, she is equally adept at creating linear «architectural» designs. Her painting background gives her a unique eye for texture and color.
