Charged $ 1750 to move us. Took the entire day(13+hours). Had to make two trips because the truck they brought was too small. One guy broke a vase. Furniture ended up with dings. Too much longer than I had expected. I had only agreed to an hourly rate. Next time I’ll insist on a «Not To Exceed» quote before they start moving. Note that the original NEWS moving has split into two companies due to some internal differences and the part I used was the one that belongs to one Boaz Hadashi or somesuch name. I don’t think I’ll be using them again.

Very courteous and punctual. I used News Moving for a move from Point Richmond to Alameda. I told them I didn’t want to go over my budget soplease quote me as accurately as possible while I was still browsing for a good moving company. I booked a week before my actual move date, I was quoted about $ 90 an hour and it would take about 3 hours. 2 guys were to facilitate the move and I would get charged double the drive time(whatever the amount time of the commute was from Pt. Richmond to Alameda). I booked the date and time and they made it on the dot. The guys showed up, they moved fast. I told them they didnt have to wrap most of my furniture, I’m on a time crunch(limited money for this move) so please get me into the new place asap! There were some scratches and dings here and there(mostly avoidable but I specifically asked them not to wrap anything and to try to get done fast) so I’m not upset just giving you a heads up. They did however scratch the wall with the couch legs of our new apartment =/(hope I dont get charged lol) and they were done at 3 hours sharp plus double the drive time. I would use them again, and maybe even wrap my own furniture to save time in the future. Please note: In 3 hours they moved 2 couches, a marble round dining table with 6 leather chairs, an empty bookcase, and a 55″ LCDTV from our old house to the new one. I loaded my bikes onto their truck at the last second since the SUV was full and they had room but I had loaded them myself. Any and all boxes/misc. items(Vacuums, mops, Fans, portable heaters, sports equipment) ALL other stuff was moved prior to our appointment with News moving. I had specifically booked for them to only move the last few pieces of furniture. So I’m somewhat sad it took 3 hours to move a couple things but I’m happy that they didn’t go over the time limit. Thank you NEWs moving! Nice job!

Looking at all the 5 star reviews I was expecting a flawless job, however, was SEVERELY disappointed. They sent 4 guys so I thought the job would go a lot quicker than it did. First of all, they didn’t even bring their own tools to break down furniture with. They claim their toolbox was stolen out of their truck so my husband had to go buy tools for them to disassemble furniture with. Second, they took almost 5 hrs to pack, which seems slow to me because on a previous move when we had even more stuff, 2 guys were able to pack our whole house in about 8 hrs and they did a much more thorough job of packing every little knick-knack than the NEWS guys did. Third, the company charges for packing supplies so we bought all our supplies beforehand. During the packing, the one guy, Bob, who seemed to be in charge, said they ran out of all the tape that I had bought. So we ended up having to use some of their tape which they charged $ 5/roll. While unpacking, I found 2 packages of the tape that I bought packed away in a box. So Bob packed away the tape that I bought and pretended to have used it all so that he can charge me for their tape. Overall, I was NOTIMPRESSED with these movers. I’m not sure what happened with my move when all the other reviewers gave 5 stars. They charged an extra $ 150 for having to use their supplies. I would NOT recommend this moving company to my family and friends.
