Amazing selection of frames with unparalleled customer service. They know their customers by name, showing how they really go out of their way to show they care. The optometrist shows care when giving eye exams and really goes all the way to make sure you’re given the right prescription
Most recently, I busted part of my frameless glasses and they shipped and repaired everything for free! Absolutely recommend them.

VSP insurance listed Looksie, literally 2 blocks from me. Dr. Tran provided personable 1:1 attention, thorough exam, and not only corrected my prescription from a chain store, she saved me $$$ on my contacts! A very tidy office, convenient location, and an easy online appointment booking. Cheers to Looksie!

I went in for an eye exam, bought pair of glasses from them. Found out later that day, they overcharged me $ 160 on a pair of glasses that was worth only $ 100. I called them and asked if they could hold off sending the glasses in, they agreed.
I figured everything would be way overpriced there, so I asked to cancel and they were saying how they already charged insurance so I would have to buy from them regardless and they’re doing me a favor because I would get less credit if I buy glasses from other shop where I didn’t get my eye exam done, the insurance would not reimburse me as much as if I bought from them. I just thought it didn’t sound right so I told them I would call them back after I find out more about the insurance policy, obviously they were lying and while I was on the phone, the girl called me back saying they were able to cancel it. However, I have to come in in person in order to process the refund and see if I like any of their other glasses. I told them no then they decided to ask me if I at least need contacts. I asked them if they could give me a refund via call and finally agreed. I honestly don’t think they’re very honest. They lied to me about my insurance policy and also lied to me at one point the glasses are already being made when I talk to another person an hour prior that they haven’t even sent it in. It was just one of the worst experience I have ever had. Don’t go here. Way too overpriced and just dishonest people

I’ve been going to Dr. Tran for two years now. I’ve received thorough exams twice now and I’m very happy with the quality of service at Looksie, so much so that I’ve referred several friends. The store also has a great selection of frames that I haven’t seen at other shops, from chic to geek (which is «in» right now)! The receptionist, Jennifer, is very professional and friendly to boot. I really love Dr Tran, she has helped me with both my contact lenses and my normal glasses. She is caring, professional and she also gave me some advice on how to treat my eyes for some redness I was getting. Facilities are very nice although parking can be a bit tricky. Dr. Tran has taken care of me for a full year now I’m very happy with her. She is all you can expect from your optometrist.
I also love her assistant Sarah. She is very professional and she takes her job very seriously. She is very client service oriented.

I have been on a quest for a pair of frames that are stylish, fun, and unique, and Dr. Tran’s collection at Looksie does not disappoint. There were some far-​out frames and some classic styles, with a good mix of interesting shapes and colors in between. I loved many of the Andy Wolf frames, although I did not find «the one.» The woman working that day, Jennifer, was extremely helpful in directing me toward frames that fit my somewhat vague vision. Overall, I had a great experience at Looksie and would definitely recommend stopping by to find your next pair of frames.

What a pleasure it was to visit and interact with the staff at Looksie. Dr. Tran is the most informative optometrist I have had to date. She helped me understand the science behind and potential remedies to my life long optical problems which no other optometrist has helped me with so far. I felt the warmth of her practice as soon as I walked in the door and started speaking with her. She’s one of the best.
The staff is just as wonderful. As a new resident to SF, it is always a hassle to set up new patient appointments, but with Dr. Tran’s staff we were able to find time for me to come in the same day that I called. They quickly ran my insurance information and let me know the details of my plan which is always helpful, as i tend to just click the box on my benefits enrollment.
Everything about Looksie is stylish — the staff, the office, and the eyewear. If you want an honest and intelligent opinion of what looks good on you, this is the place to go. Just like a good barber, they won’t steer you wrong. Thank you Dr. Tran and staff!

Honestly, I can’t say enough amazing things about Looksie. Dr. Tran and her practice are professional, informative, helpful and extremely friendly. I had a tricky situation of trying to find someone to repair some vintage, high-​end sunglasses for my wife. She helped us understand our options, gave it a shot and we ended up getting them back looking better than new.
We also picked up some beautiful Persols with prescription lenses and we couldn’t be happier with the experience and end result.
Quite possibly the best optometrist in the city. Worth every penny, maybe more.

I found Looksie on Unilocal and after reading the reviews, I decided to come here for an eye exam and to get a prescription for contact lenses. Was a great experience! Dr Tran was thorough and knowledgeable, and definitely my favourite of the 5 optometrists I’ve seen over my lifetime. Katrina was super efficient and pleasant and helped make it a smooth experience overall. Highly recommended!

I stumbled upon this optometry shop on Polk St and decided to go in because of the cute frames in the window display. Decided to book an eye exam for the following week and Dr. Amy Tran spent almost an hour and a half with me going over my eye health. Very thorough! I’ve had some follow up appointments and they have been very accommodating to my schedule conflicts. Would highly recommend Looksie Optometry to friends.

Dr. Tran was awesome! Very professional & knowledgeable about muh eyeballs. She was pretty flexible with having me come in, and gave me a fairly logical explanation on what was going on. I told her I was having some issues seeing in the dark, and she told me to turn on the lights. Just kidding, but she really did give me some fairly useful information on assessing my eyeballs

I was drawn to the trendy-​looking store front and eventually made my way in for a new pair of glasses.
Loved the non-​traditional selection. She features a number of European designers with very unique frames (which also means pricy…).
They’re very patient as I tried on way too many pairs and helped me narrow down to one. Also a great sunglasses selection — read: Thierry Lasry frames!
Will be back for sunglasses and contact lenses later! :)

Dr. Tran was great! Her office space, retail store, personality, and professionalism far exceeded my expectations. I was able to book, and re-​book appointments via email with no problems whatsoever.
Importantly, I often get frustrated with medical professionals charging outrageous prices for their time without doing any actual science, and my time spent with Dr. Tran was the opposite of that. She spent a full hour with me fully diagnosing my eyesight with modern equipment and techniques, explaining each test, the results, the diagnosis. Awesome.
Bonus stars awarded for helping with eyewear ascetics, central location, and actually starting the exam at the appointed time.

I chose to go to this office because it was conveniently located close to my office, I should have done a bit more research. I’ve had better experiences, I was told,” We have many frames that your insurance will cover.” But then I was shown frames that exceed the amount my insurance covers. I had already chosen the frame before being told that it was more expensive, though I purchased it anyway because I liked them a lot (would have preferred to be told the price beforehand, at least have a sticker on the frame).
I was told that the glasses would take a week, then after paying the ridiculous amount that I was charged I was told they would be ready in 2 weeks!!! I was quite upset by this, so I was told that they would try and rush it. After doing a bit of research I found that the frames I purchased were heavily over priced, Lenscrafters was even cheaper! After calling to inquire about my glasses and why they are so much more expensive than everywhere else in San Francisco, I was told that if I were paying completely out of pocket they would have probably worked with me on the price a bit. But that doesn’t make any sense because they are still receiving full price, $ 150 from my insurance and the remainder from me, so again what I was told didn’t make sense. I will speak to my insurance company, and definitely not recommend this office to others in my Company/​Union/​USAA Members.

I came across Looksie on Unilocal after desperately searching for a new eye doctor in the city. I woke up with a severe pain in my eye and my local eye doctor was in San Jose… Thanks to Unilocal I was confident calling Looksie for an appointment and going to see Dr. Tran. I called around 9am and she fit me right in at 11:30.
I was greeted by name and offered a cup of hot tea (who does that?!) :D as I waited for my evaluation. Dr. Tran was kind enough to do a full eye exam for me and then prescribed me antibiotics for the ulceration I had in my eye. I am so happy I went to go see her instead of going straight to the ER because she knew exactly what to look for and was so reassuring.
I had SUCH a pleasant experience with her. Not only that, but she followed up with me over the weekend on her days off via text and phone call. Never have I met a doctor who was so invested in a patient who had just gone in for the first time. I truly felt like I was a patient of hers for years.
I highly recommend this office for your eye care. Very caring service and an amazing-​looking office. Thank you Dr. Tran!

I love Dr. Amy Tran and her staff
I recently experienced blurred vision and constant straining with my contact lenses. And I was so worried. I haven’t had my eye exam in two years. Dr. Tran was super thorough and patient with me, reviewing my history inside out, and carefully determined my prescription. She gave me a few new contact lens to try and schedule a follow up visit for me. So instead of rushing off, she spent extra time explaining the cause for my vision changes, and reassuring me. It did take an additional follow up since I do want to try the new contact lens prescription, which totally makes sense! I appreciated the in depth evaluation Dr. Tran gave me and the time she took! At least now I have the peace of mind knowing what the problem is (I’m not going blind, yay!).
