Kari McIntosh Design is a boutique design firm specializing in residential and commercial projects emphasizing personal and beautiful spaces as unique as each individual client.

From large to small scale projects my approach focuses on the client; collaborating to create the home of their dreams. My design philosophy juxtaposes vintage with contemporary, organic elements with streamlined finishes, and custom pieces with the best retail available.

I work with business professionals, young families, and empty nesters alike to create spaces representative of them. I am pleased to offer my experience and services to create and manage your entire project so that you may focus on your life, family, and work.

Business Owner

I’ve always loved design. From crafting ballrooms for my dolls to designing my dream vacation home in high school drafting class, as long as I can recall I wanted to be in architecture.

When I began California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo’s Architecture program I quickly realized my true passion for interiors and shifted my path accordingly. I completed the UC Berkeley Interior Design & Interior Architecture post– baccalaureate program, graduating with distinction. I am affiliated with ASID and IIDA.

With a decade of experience in the industry, internships with two renowned hospitality design firms and affection for vintage furnishings I was inspired to start Kari McIntosh Design. As a LEED Accredited Professional, creating healthy and green spaces is important to me. I work with local artisans, manufacturers, and products whenever feasible to benefit the client and the community.

Buying your first home is scary, having to remodel it too is overwhelming. Kari was a life saver. She was great to work with, listened to our family’s needs, and created an overall vision for our home that beautifully reflected our style.
Kari has a great eye and helped us weed through hundreds of options to find the perfect mix for our space. In fact, she helped us transform our small kitchen into a comfortable functional space that I absolutely love. From the backsplash to the countertops to the cabinets, Kari pulled the entire design together on our first shopping trip and our guests are always commenting how much they love it.
I can’t recommend Kari enough. She is so easy to work with, and a fantastic designer.

Kari’s attention to detail is exactly what we needed for our drapery needs. Kari helped us with a project at our new home; taking on every aspect of selecting hardware, vendors and fabric. She showed us 3 – 4 different priced options and really helped us to understand what we would/​would not be getting for each price point. Kari finished off the job by managing the installation of the drapes. She is a true professional and a delightful individual to work with!

I’m finishing up an interior remodel/​redesign and my designer Kari has been an amazing asset throughout this process. Kari is creative yet practical, detail-​oriented, a great listener who’s open to feedback, and is immensely patient. Additionally she’s a consummate professional wowing me with her efficient and thorough follow through every time. Hiring her was one of the best decisions (and investments) I made in this process. My home has turned out more beautiful and more functional than I ever could have imagined! I’ve recommended her to several friends and will continue to work with her myself on future home improvement projects.
