Business Owner

John Montes has always been imbued with the desire to help others and after years of doing so from the standpoint of jobs Social Services, Community Organizing and Research, he realized that he was ready for a change to a more hands-​on approach.

Originally from Puerto Rico, John believes that a person is not just the sum of his/​her body parts. For this reason he has been committed to integrate health systems that can address ailments from a physiological standpoint but also taking into consideration the psycho-​spiritual aspects that may arise with such problems. In his treatments he integrates the soul of Espiritismo practices of the Caribbean with more systematic and anatomically based approaches to Massage Therapy and Bodywork, profession that he’s been honing for more than a decade. Using Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) he takes this practice to a whole new level.

I came in with a lot of pain in my back and neck that started several days before coming in. He first did accupunture (first time for me, the needles did not hurt at all, I loved it) and then a full body healing massage. He not only fixed the pains I was experiencing, but also took away others that I didn´t even know I had. When it was finished, I felt a million pounds lighter, being able to move every part of my body in a different way.
John has a very calmed and relaxed energy that is contagious. You leave his therapy room feeling like a new person. He is truly amazing!

I was recently diagnosed with osteoarthritis in both feet. The condition had greatly reduced my ability to walk, reduced my activity levels, and I was in constant pain. After going to a podiatrist who basically shrugged his shoulders and said that steriod shots were probably going to be my only form of relief, I started looking into other forms of healing. I began seeing John weekly for treatment, and he has worked miracles for me! He uses a totally holistic approach in healing, and has much wisdom to draw from and impart to his clients. His work space is a peaceful sanctuary that makes you feel at ease the moment you walk in. John himself is a wonderfully compassionate man and a healer of great skill. I have enjoyed much improvement with regard to my condition, and am so very grateful for his help in regaining much of what I had lost.

Jonli is an amazing healer. I received a treatment in his new beautiful acupuncture studio. I’m continually impressed by the way Jonli draws seamlessly from an extensive and diverse well of knowledge, including chinese acupuncture, puerto rican shamanism, and genuine passion and care for understanding and bringing balance to the body & spirit. He’s helped a lot with getting me through school stress and healing colds.

Just coming from an acupuncture appointment with John.
I was having a lot of issues with my body with jetlag and all – I could tell it was under a lot of stress. So naturally I went to John.
After he took out the needles, I got up and off the table, and was struck with a feeling of lightness. I never knew my body could physically feel this way. Getting off the table, I was like, «am I bouncing off the floor?»
The lightness was NOT unbearable though… haha (#sorrynotsorry)
If I could give more stars, John would have them ALL and then some.

I have been to many, many therapists over the last decade, and I can honestly say John is a standout. I first met John when I was experiencing severe repetitive stress injury symptoms, and John’s combination of a soothing presence and deft skill with bodywork mixed with elements of other practices was a truly healing experience; he got me through a tough time, and I have continued to seek him out regularly for over a year. John is the best healer I have ever been to. His massage and acupuncture techniques are amazing! I have gone to see him several times with different issues from back pain, insomnia, and severe neck and shoulder pain. He has been able to provide me relief each time. I highly recommend him for massage and/​or acupuncture.

I cannot say enough good things about John Montes. John is simply the best natural health practitioner I’ve been to, and anyone I’ve recommended to him has said the same thing.
He’s extremely well educated (read: he knows his shit), extremely attentive, and responsive. He’s calm and easy to relax around.
I’ve been a client off and on for several years for chronic health conditions (digestive and joint) and for general mental wellbeing. His treatments are my wife and my favorite present swap. Who needs chocolates when you can have the best massage of your life?
I am just starting to visit John regularly again for acupuncture and massage treatments for a shoulder tear and tendonitis (I would really like to avoid having surgery if I can), and the progress already has been outstanding.
His space is clean, warm and inviting and comfortable and smells amazing.
You will feel better for visiting him! John is an absolute pleasure. And his treatments are spectacular.

John is an amazing acupuncturist and massage therapist!
I was in an accident about four years ago and in the aftermath, my jaw locked up. It caused all sorts of problems as well as chronic pain. I went to all sorts of specialists, including a slew of other acupuncturists and my jaw remained locked and I had pretty much given up. But, when I went to see John for lower back pain, he instantly picked up on my jaw issue and after some massage and one acupuncture session… voila! After a year and a half of very limited mobility-​My jaw opened up! I was amazed and so surprised! Whatever your issue may be, go see John and he will FIX you.
Besides being a great healer, he is the kindest guy you’ll ever meet, very sensitive and intuitive as they come… thank you, John!
