Over the years I’ve been to many acupuncturists and Shamsi is by far the most effective, compassionate and knowlegable of all. She has helped me through several ailments, both cronic and accute. I would totally agree with other Unilocalers that she is truely gifted. Shamsi has a professional caring manner that will give you the confidence to openly discuss your health issues so you can start down the path to healing.

Shamsi is an AMAZING acupuncture doctor. She has helped me with everything from stopping colds to getting my adrenals back on track. She has profoundly changed my health by educating me about diet and what works and does not work for my constitution. I have way more energy since following Shamsi’s advice!
She also explains what is going on in your body in a way you can understand. So I feel like I am learning how to take care of myself which feels really empowering. At times Shamsi has given me Chinese herbs which have always been really effective. (And Shamsi does not charge an arm and a leg for the herbs.)
Plus, Shamsi also makes delicious food for clients! She has a new menu every couple of weeks. It is a great way to eat healthy if you do not have time to cook for yourself. All her dishes are made with great care and knowledge about ingredients and how they affect the body.
Shamsi is a very caring and intuitive healer! I recommend her very highly!

I love Shamsi! I’ve gone to other wonderful acupuncuturists in the past, but Shamsi is by far the best fit for me.
First, she is extremely passionate about her work. She really cares about your health, is just as excited as you are when you start to feel better!
Also she is extremely thorough in customizing your treatment in a holistic way. It’s not just one symptom that she looks at, but the entire body, and even emotional state that you are in. Every week the treatments are different, whether that be just acupuncture, or a customized combo of herbal supplements, cupping, massage, or more.
And, importantly to me, Shamsi engages you in the healing process, if you’d like. I was really trying to find someone who could help me change my diet and lifestyle to help be my own healer as well. Shamsi believes that food can be your medicine, and she has given me many tips on changing my diet to avoid foods that exacerbate my health problems, and other foods to improve my health. The diet improvements were hard to do sometimes, but I was thrilled to fine that they totally worked and helped speed my recovery from my chronic health issues. Shamsi is really supportive (kind of like a life coach pushing you to do those hard tasks you’re afraid to do!) and gave me many recipe suggestions, even working within my vegan eating habits.
Also, I’ve felt the most immediate physical improvements with her particular acupuncture style (Taiwanese I think?), which she combines with moxa. Between the two, I really feel the difference. If she needles my stomach, it starts gurgling immediately, and it’s the only acupuncture I’ve had where I feel my entire body humming with energy during treatment.
With Shamsi I’ve been able to tackle root causes of my chronic health issues, and I feel 300% better now! I’m very grateful that she’s chosen to share her talent for holistic healing and acupuncture here in SF :)

I am so happy I met Shamsi and started treatment with her. Unlike traditional doctors, She looks at the body as a whole and understands that everything is interrelated. It’s like going to neurologist, gastroenterologist, obgyn, general practitioner, nutritionist, and even psychiatrist all at once.
I had abdominal pain for almost 6 months and doctors could not find the source of it. Also, I have chronic migraines, joint pain and hormonal imbalance. Shamsi was able to diagnose and treat what traditional medicine could not do for ages. Apart from physical help, she is helping to reduce stress level by allowing me to vent, ask for an advice, or just a friendly chat.
Shamsi is very nice and friendly; her approach is easy going and she never forces something on a patient unlike traditional doctors.
Besides acupuncture, she uses cupping, burning of moxa, massage, herbs, nutritional counceling, and use of electrodes on needles if needed. I had acupuncture from different people before but I never felt anything other than the pinch from needles while treatment. With Shamsi, I can feel movement of energy in my organs. It’s hard to explain, you got to try it yourself!!!

Shamsi is a very knowledgeable and professional TCM practitioner. I’ve had needles done (with and without electricity) as well as cupping. Through Shamsi, I am learning a lot about my body and my health.
I am not an experienced patient – in fact, Shamsi has been the only person I’ve ever trusted to poke me with needles. But I’ve been very happy seeing Shamsi and I would definitely recommend her.

Shamsi is an amazing healer– her acupuncture treatments have seriously changed my life!
I first began going to Shamsi 2 ½ years ago, on the recommendation of a friend. The main issue I was seeking help for was acne, but of course the hormonal imbalances that caused that symptom had deeper roots that needed attending to. I’ve seen her on the regular ever since.
The treatments can be kind of intense– but they are much more potent than the spa-​style acupuncture that I’d received before. As soon as the needles go in I can literally feel things start moving in my body and I always leave in an elevated and contented haze.
What I love about Shamsi is that she guides me in many aspects of my life. Aside from the cupping, needle-​ling, and burning of moxa, she advises me on my diet and nutrition, and really listens and offers a healthy perspective as I tell her about the events of my life that transpire between appointments. I also appreciate that she only recommends that I take Chinese herbs when it’s really necessary– she’d rather that I bring my body into balance through a healthy diet and reducing stress.
I have recommended Shamsi to many friends over the last couple years– and since I so often turn to Unilocal for recommendations, I thought I’d spread the word here too!

Shamsi is great! I’ve been going for a little over a year, and I have had much success with the treatments (a well balanced combination of acupuncture, herbs, and nutritional guidance).
