Jane Consignment

This is really a hidden treasure in my own Outer Richmond backyard. I received excellent service upon walking in. Jane is extremely welcoming and nice! She helped me find a cute dress under $ 20 :) I love supporting local businesses like hers! Will definitely be back.

First time visit to Jane Consignment and very pleasantly surprised to find a wide variety of quality clothing etc, in my style and size. The store is small allowing personal attention from the owner, but well stocked. There was a «Teacher Appreciation» event going on with promo prices and refreshments. I purchased several pairs of earrings (local artist) and will return for clothing and shoes when I have time to try everything on.

I never really tried consignment shopping, I always had a bad opinion of it. Right now I’m kicking myself for not checking out Jane’s store earlier. All these years and she’s been right in my neighborhood, and I never took a look.
You can find treasures here. I’ve gotten some gorgeous items that I love, for a steal. Jane is always very friendly and kind, and honest. She won’t push something on you, and is just incredibly helpful — she stayed late while I shopped and was so gracious about it. Definitely check this place out.

Like any consignment, you do have to return every so often and keep looking. I’ve shopped at a lot of consignment stores in SF and think Jane’s is the best.
Things I wish were different about this place:
–I feel like 3 out of every 4 times I come to shop, Jane’s is closed. It would be fantastic if the days/​hours posted on the door were firm. I’d shop more often.
–The noisy chit-​chat and fake new money accents while I’m shopping kind of gets to me. (Welcome to Seacliff (Does anyone really speak like that?))
–Most days Jane is fabulous and wonderful, but I have witnessed the rudeness too. To her credit: a) she runs the store solo; b) have you seen how fast one woman can tear up a store trying on clothes?; c) welcome to Seacliff — some of these ‘ladies of leisure’ are very high-​maintenance and would try the patience of Jesus. Yes, Jesus.

Listen up, ladies. This tiny shop is a girl’s paradise. The owner is professional, incredibly resourceful, as attentive as anyone could be as a one-​woman operation, and super friendly. She treats her customers with respect, tuning in to their preferences to browse or be helped.
Best of all, she’s got a GREAT eye for fashion and quality, and selects things to sell that are both fun and practical. The consignment clothing includes a wonderful designer area, and accessories are a great mix of new and used items. And despite the tiny space being packed to the gills, Jane knows her stock and keeps everything so well organized that she can zero in on what you need. Also, the creativity of her displays is just awesome. It’s obvious that she puts her heart and soul into her work. As for pricing, I find everything very reasonably priced, and she’s willing to bargain if I’m buying multiple items.
I absolutely adore this place. My experience shopping here is always an excellent adventure, and I never fail to leave with veritable treasures since Jane makes such great finds. San Francisco is a challenging place to run a business in so many ways, but this gem in the Richmond District proves that where there’s a will, there’s a way.

I had walked into this store months ago, excited to find a store in the neighborhood, and ended up spending a small fortune. Thanks not only to the great customer services I was getting but the surprisingly good selection of items in the store.
Then I tried to return many times after during store hours only to find the place closed.
When I came back to consign things many months later, finally finding it open again, the owner was incredibly rude to me IN FRONT of other customers. I will never waste my time in this store ever again!

I really do love this store, yes you have to rummage… and need patience, but it’s so well worth it when you find a gem. I’ve bought some great designer items like a Calvin Klein jacket, Missoni, Anne Klein etc. Just like Ross, you need to dig, but the bargains are worth it and I’ve recycled some great work clothes.

Wow! Who knew a spot could be so cool! Jane is super helpful, she has some quality stuff, and the prices won’t completely kill you. I would recommend this store to any of my lady friends. Bring your credit card girls, so much good stuff you’ll definitely want to buy lots! ;)

First time going to Jane Consignment, and I really love it!
First of all, the owner of the store is really, really nice and friendly. My friend and I struck up small talk with her, and she just went along with the conversation. It was a warm welcome, and wasn’t awkward.
Inventory-​wise: I didn’t really take much time looking at the clothes. I was more focused on their shoes, handbags, and jewelry. I have to say, the handbags there are very, very tempting. (I bought one myself… a Dooney & Bourke one for quite a good deal…) The place is small, but I do prefer it over something like Crossroads and Buffalo Exchange.
I really would love to come back here again, and I probably will.

Had another wonderful shopping experience last Saturday at Jane’s! I found a lovely silk jacket for $ 20 and free champagne (yay!). I used to live right around the corner from her store and shopped there all the time. Now I’m further away and can’t get there as often as I’d like, but I always find something fantastic when I go — scarves, gloves, hats, jewelry, purses, designer wear. Jane’s super sweet and has a great eye for what looks good on you!

I LOVE Jane’s! For years my friends would show up at parties dressed to the nines and they would always have the same response to «Where’d you get that?» — JANE’S! I finally made it in about a year and a half ago and have been a regular since. Jane is a delight and her store is wonderful. I love that she carries all sizes — everyone deserves to look smashing regardless of the number on their clothing! I just went in for her anniversary sale and came out, yet again, with show stopper ensembles for a great price. Viva Jane Consignment! Here’s to another 10 years.

This thrift store is amazing! There are always name and designer brands inside that make me want to buy them!
I found a pair of Purple and green nikes for $ 20! Retail price is $ 72! Need to come here more often!

Meh– on the inventory. My Mom enjoyed looking at the jackets, holding them up saying her Grandmother had one like it.. Just not my taste, my review is based on the style of the clothing. The owner is very personable and helpful. Found a couple pairs of great shoes and an old lady pin that I love, LOVE.
Anyone that says you need to «dig» to find something great here doesn’t really know how to consignment shop. You can’t really go in expecting to find something specific. You just tend to stumble upon things, you didn’t know you needed!

I love jane’s consignment shop! There were some great deals for 50% off and I found a pair of $ 200 boots for $ 78, barely worn. Plus Jane is really sweet :)

Yes, close to my house and office and I am a big fan of second hand clothes. I always come in to browse and leave with something. She always has good specials, today was half off anything with certain tag colors which meant I got a wonderful jacket for $ 13. Great jewelry, own a few pairs of earrings from Jane’s.
Rotating inventory means you never know what you’ll find at Jane’s.

It is a mix of sad and happy that this store is so far out in the Avenues. Sad, because all of you who think the Avenues is another country, you may never make it here. Happy, for me, who gladly swoops in on the bargains ignored by inner-​city folks.
I have shown up here twice in desperation mode, needing a dustbag and a purse-​strap, respectively. Jane (maybe not her name, but the store owner) switched into handbag mode and did something really amazing. My beautiful ochre-​colored Jimmy Choo bag had turned itself into a clutch by abandoning it’s original strap, so the scouring began.
It wasn’t 5 minutes before she presented me with a red leather and goldtone belt that matched my Choo perfectly, and would double as a strap without arousing any suspicions. I couldn’t believe my eyes. It was like bringing a paint chip to Ace and asking them to make you a whole gallon of «this color». Impressive. This woman knows her inventory very well.
My parting gift was a selection of dustbags from her secret dustbag stash. I like Underoos on all my purses, so this only sweetened the trip. On my way out, she reminded me about her fabulous Pashmina sale that she has every year around the holidays. Best prices I ‘ve seen on cashmere wraps & scarves in the city… meaning you all know what you’re getting from me for Christmas!
Worth the drive out of the country! :)

I was waiting for my friend to meet up with me for dinner on clement so I decided to kill some time in this store.
As soon as I entered the store, jane was at the front counter helping a customer, and chatting away like old friends, she greeted me immediately, and told me that the stuff w/​the pink tags are 50% off. Just Superb.
I found a really cute gray super soft leather long strap purse with bottega venetta-​esque weaving and magnet closure Super casual cute. But it was kind of expensive than what I had hoped, and I just blew a whole bunch of money on vintage shopping recently, so I decided to put it back down, and not to purchase it. Its probably gone by now, but I can tell that since I still think about it, I should have MAYBE bought it (but I will be in Toronto in two weeks so hopefully I can get some great finds there). Great selection of clutches and scarves (saw a faux chanel scarf) too.
I LOVE… Absolutely LOVE that the shoes are arranged by size. THANK GOODNESS. b/​c I wear size 5 and you don’t know how much it sucks to find all these cute shoes, hoping for it to fit, but then you see the huge 7 or 8 on the shoe… Sigh. But the organization of the shoes definitely saved me the headache.
The store is kind of cramped, a lot of the clothes are on rotating rounders which is nice, b/​c I don’t have to move but the clothes will. Didn’t have much time to really dig and find something cool since time was limited, but I kind of skimmed most of the racks, but didn’t find anything that was a must have… I think I would stop by here if I’m in the neighborhood, but I have other places to go that are near me, so its not a top priority on my list.

In a world of mass consumption and blend retail stores, Jane’s store is a reminder that quality neighorhood small business can exist in an expensive city.
I usually go to Crossroads b/​c it’s more trendy, but I stop by this establishment when I get my hair cut down the street before 7pm. I always find something, and chatting with Jane brings me back to the small town I grew up in.
Despite having so many categories, Jane takes the time to organize. Her efforts are impressive. For instance, all the shoes are organized by size and have their mates. Plus, she can guide you to what’s hidden, as she treats each item as a story and not just a thing.
The store bursts at the seam, so it can be overwhelming. As with discount stores or second-​hand shopping, go in with objectives. I went in to look for a sun hat and found it in 5 minutes. The rest were wants, and I checked off several wish list items.
Dressing via used items is an adventure, so why not check out Jane Consignment? If it’s not for you, then the damage will be minimal. You will have supported a great local business.

I’m kinda torn about how I feel about this store. I consigned some clothes here (3 bags, 12 shirts and sweaters, 1 pair of shoes) and made like $ 15 in two months. I feel like I should have gone to crossroads. There is a very slim selection of quality items to choose from. You definatly have to dig to find a gem. I found 2 pairs of snake skin heels in mint condition for $ 20 each! They would have gone for al least $ 50 at any other consignment store. That made my week.
…So I went back in after a few months of vacation from this store to discover that I had a few checks waiting for me. It was a nice surprise. While I was browsing in the store I saw some great deals on designers… ie: a Jean Paul Gaultier turtleneck and skirt set for only $ 70!!, cute versace boots (forget the price, but it was good), and an amazing vintage cashmere and mink coat for only $ 200!!! It’s nice that the store is small, so you don’t have to dig. If you’re a brand whore or just have a good eye for quality, you’ll find treasures that stick out like a sore thumb!
