The best burrito in the Inner + Outer Richmond. Gordo’s is reliable and I can even manage to finish an entire burrito in the two blocks from the clement location back to my boyfriends apartment. Plan on ordering your burrito to-go, it is a very tiny space fit for the line out the door of burrito eaters. Try the carne asada super burrito. While you’re at it buy one for a friend too, they’re only $ 6.

Good burrito. Liked the guy behind the counter more than my burrito. You can’t look more Mexican that that guy ;)

Went there after seeing the ratings, not so great, where is the Mexican spice ??? Very americanised Mexican suiting their taste buds, probably the reason for the ratings, kinda disappointed, nothing to complain though, a little bland for my taste(and I can’t take too much spice myself), good prices and more of a takeout not much place to sit kinda cramped up as I was there with five other friends.

Rude staff. Somehow they managed to give us cold food even though we ate it within 5 minutes of leaving.

I have been going hear for 20+ years(being that I’m only 27 that’s pretty amazing lol) this is most likely the first burrito I have ever eaten lol so kinda bias.. . the place is always packed ever since I was a kid, even with that being the case you’re in and out! Their burritos are clean and classic no frills or thrills just good clean ingredients. If you live in the city its a must try!!!

Best burrito in SF! Fresh pinto beans, moist shredded chicken, everything is perfectly cooked and paired. I know natives each have our favorites, but this is consistent and enjoyable every time.

Pretty good, could be a lot spicier. I had 2 chicken tacos cause they’re quite large. Tortilla and chicken are quality ingredients so if you’re lookin’ for a quick eat that’s good, come here. 3 star cause spicier would have added more flavour. I feel like they’re marketed towards folks who don’t wanna run for the water machine. Small parking lot next door @$ 3.50−½hr or parking meters. No restroom.

Gargoyle balls taste better than their burritos. No kidding. I was quite drunk when I went to this place, and you know how drunk people think everything is good, but this place — it sobered me up(the bad way).

Order the boiled chicken! Carnitas was too dry/salty and from reviews chili verde was super salty as well. Ordered boiled chicken quesadilla and carnita taco

Definitely my favorite of the three locations. The chile verde is the bomb. The boiled chicken is always moist & juicy. Salsas/guac always fresh. Always huge portions whether it’s a burrito, taco or Gordo platter. There is usually a long line, if you think about it order ahead and skirt the line when you get there. Getting a spot to eat inside is a matter of luck as well.

One of the tastier Mexican taquerias in the city, we came here for lunch the other weekend. To my delight, they had a smaller burrito as most standard sized ones are way too much for me. We also had ordered a set of tacos and two Mexican sodas. Despite the place being really busy, our food was made quickly. The smaller portion size might not be for everyone, but we left feeling like we got our money’s worth and enough food to fill us up without leftovers or feeling too full. Yum!

Came to Gordo’s on a saturday afternoon with my boyfriend. I was starving and Gordo’s was in the area. Ambiance/Appearance: Gordo’s is pretty small inside. There are a few seats along the front window and sides of the wall. Taste: My boyfriend ordered a grilled chicken quesadilla and I got a regular carne asada burrito without beans. The burrito was just eh; it was kind of dry and just… not too appealing even with the hot sauce. Usually when we go to Gordo’s, we just get the quesadillas. This time around, I thought it was not as good as I have had in the past. It might of been because the outside was not as crisp, so everything became soggy really quickly because of the steam and pico de gallo, but they do put a lot of meet in the quesadillas. I hate how in both the quesadilla and the burrito, it would leak through the aluminum foil. Overall the food was okay. The total came out to around $ 11 something. I don’t think I will be returning for a while, unless I am in dire need of Mexican food and quick(they get your order out pretty quickly).

This was awful. This review is mostly a bookmark to remind me never to return and at the same time share with you that this will be a meal you can never get back. I came in on a slow Sunday afternoon and was immediately greeted. Bonus! The service is fast because there where three people working on my burrito! Maybe not efficient but fast. This is a classic Mission size burrito and while still wrapped up, very promising. As soon as you start to unwrap though your dreams are crushed and expectations shattered. I guess all of the expected ingredients are present but the flavor profile is reminiscent of soggy cardboard. There is a taste reminiscent of what the memory of guacamole once may have been which just makes you mad. Same can be said about the sour cream. All of the other ingredients are equally as underwhelming. Please remember to request a spoon because this mess is more like burrito soup then anything else. I won’t be back.

A non-shimmering three stars. My friends who live in the neighborhood told me this is a great place for some Mexican food. I was hungry for a good burrito, and when I walked in, I liked the feel of it. It’s a tiny place, but it’s just fine. There are a few places to eat inside and outside. Most people seem to be taking their food to go. They have a very steady stream of customers and they keep things moving. The prices are OK, especially for the area. I ordered the Chile Verde burrito. It was a good sized burrito, about the size of a burrito you’d get at Chipotle. The burrito was super salty. So salty I couldn’t finish it. It was my lunch, and I was thirsty the rest of the day because of the high salt content. I might try them again next time I’m in town, but try something different. My friend said he had the Chile Verde burrito before, and he said it’s the only thing he’s had there he didn’t like… because of the saltiness of it.

Love this place. Great carnitas tacos(not sure how widely known it is that they serve tacos — most people seem to order burritos) if you’re not hungry enough for a burrito. Been to all three Gordos; interesting to note that the flavor of the food differs somewhat by location. Irving & Geary locations have room to sit down; Clement not so much(take-out only for us).

On my last day of SF I decided to explore Golden Gate Park. Somewhere mid-day I was hungry and wandered off towards the southeast end of the park to get some food. I have not had any kind of Hispanic food during my travels and thought I would give Gordo Taqueria a try. Service — 2⁄5. Nothing outstandish… guys seem preoccupied talking to each other in Spanish. I can’t understand a thing. Food — 2⁄5. I come from Las Vegas where there are many authentic Mexican restaurants. I surely did not expect anything too much of a place in SF, but literally there is no difference between the burrito and quesadilla and tacos minus a few things. Authenticity gets a 1 if it were a category… the quesadilla was literally their taco with cheese on it lol. It wasn’t *too* bad tasting, I suppose. The tacos were large in size and very fulfilling. Normally tacos are very small in size, so I would get 3 – 4. I only needed 1 – 2 here to get full. Ambience — 3⁄5. Nothing special. The wall paintings gave the place a very Mexican feel, but I didn’t like the vibes inside it.

Gordo is my go-to for cheap, delicious burritos in the Richmond. The carnitas are outstanding, and the chicken is also really good. Its one of the few places where the chicken is shredded and poached, instead of chopped chunks of grilled chicken. It’s a great option if you’re trying to stay healthy. A shredded chicken street taco with salsa or avocado is actually not bad for you at all, so check out Gordo’s for a quick lunch or dinner that you can make as healthy or heavy as you like — it’s tasty both ways!

Why oh why is this place so popular? In the Richmond District, pickings are incredibly slim when it comes to taquerias, so I suppose it’s this very scarcity of options that drives people to gorge on Gordo’s subpar menu. They don’t even grate their own cheese! Instead, they melt a square of plasticky cheese onto the tortilla before proceeding to slather it with additional ingredients of a burrito. I once ordered a chicken super burrito, I nearly spat out the first bite. The meat was charred and saltier than anchovies on saltines. Alas, it was a to go order, so I was stuck with an inedible meal that cost me at least six bucks. Thinking this might have been a one off experience, I tried a few more times and was disappointed with the food from both Richmond District locations. I guess that Gordo’s near total lack of competition allows it to thrive, but for the life of me, I just cannot wrap my head around its apparent popularity.

Much better service at this location than the one on Geary. The space is a little smaller, but I always feel like the employees here are happier to help you out. The roommate normally gets a Carnitas super burrito while I get a Beef super burrito. I like that the Geary location offers an All meat super burrito, but sometimes, all you need is beef! Parking here can be a pain! There are times when I wanna drop by, but since parking at times is impossible, I end up going to the Geary location or another taqueria closer to my house. If I’m with the roommate, he normally just pulls over while I go in and get our order. This is probably my favorite burrito pick up place in my area. Just wish parking was easier!
