H&R Block

I spoke with William yesterday at this location. I felt like I wasn’t maximizing my return by doing it online and wanted to see what he might recommend I do to remedy my situation. He told me I needed to contact technical support and that was separate from a physical location. I said that I didn’t need technical support, but I needed questions answered about my return. He said I can’t help you. I requested to speak with someone else because William wasn’t listening to me, he said there was no one else, and then said there was someone but he was out to lunch. I felt like he was trying to rush me off the phone. I called the location on 3250 Geary, just down the street in the other direction. I explained to Lisa my situation the same way I did with William, and she said why don’t we make an appointment for a second look. I made an appointment for later in the day, she saw me early, answered all my questions, and did not charge me. Thanks Lisa, if you have questions go to 3250 Geary instead and stay clear of this location at 5550 Geary

This was my first visit to this H&R Block location and seeing the other reviews, I was a little apprehensive. However, I’m happy to say that it was a great experience (as far as filing my taxes goes anyway). Everyone I met was really nice (especially Paul) and on time!

I had a nightmare experience. And to compound my ordeal is to have a manager named Ann to be so unprofessional & w/​an attitude is TRULY a disservice the clients/​community-​at-​large. Ann’s body language and what was said is a poor example/​reflection for the employees at that location. This kind of behavior should NOT be condoned N be accepted. She needs to have some kind of sensitivity training OR be replaced!

The fellow who did my taxes had a rudimentary knowledge of using the H&R tax software, but absolutely no background understanding the tax codes or regulations.
In the end, my debt to the IRS and Franchise Tax Board computed by H&R Block was significantly higher than it has ever been in the past, even though my wages were $ 25 000 less than last year AND the price to prepare this mess was over 2.5 times what I paid an independent tax preparer to do last year.
Anyone who believes tax season isn’t all that bad has never had their taxes done at H&R Block.

This is a nice quiet office that is easy to park at. I took my elderly relative and they couldn’t have been nicer. We especially like Elena and the personal interest she took in my relative’s stories. I highly recommend the h & r block office!

The most disorganized place I ever experience in my life! Expensive, not trustful and horrible costumer service. Stay away.

I was very impressed with the patience and professionalism that I was met with at H&R Block during my appointment with Paul. I have a fairly complicated tax situation, and he walked me through each and every one of my long list of questions. His knowledge and insight was incredibly valuable, and I feel confident that all of my paperwork was done correctly.
I would definitely return to Paul again.

I, too, had a terrible experience with William Lo. During a follow-​up appointment, I had to show him the printout of an IRS online publication in order to stop him from preparing my tax return wrong.
As for «people skills,» this man has poor self-​control and a total lack of respect for the public. During the two meetings he had with me, he gave free rein to his deeply volatile, aggressive, arrogant tendencies. When I asked him directly why he was being so rude and how he dared to shout at me, he answered with a peculiar non sequitur: that I was «discriminating against him.»
There is no excuse for such behavior, and there is no substitute for professionalism and good customer service. William Lo is a disgrace to H & R Block. For him to continue in his post at the Geary Street H & R franchise speaks volumes about the management in charge of this office.

see William Lo unless you want to be made fun of
and ripped off. I’m actually calling Better Business
Bureau!

Stay far away from this place unless you want to spend tons of money and torture yourself. I now fear and loathe tax season and the IRS thanks to this place. I’m a simple girl, perpetual student (ahem, don’t make a lot of money,) and have never ever had to pay money on a tax return. In fact I had always gotten money back. My dreams were dashed at this place. The employees are completely incompetent, have zero personality, yet somehow show such disdain for their customers I wonder how they can be so expressive without barely speaking.
The charming Elsa was an hour late for out appointment, but didn’t seem to mind at all, as she chatted in Russian with her coworker throughout the session. When she told me that I owed the IRS over 3K I just about died (I made 22k) she brushed me off, saying she didn’t make a mistake, took my money for processing & that was that. I was a stunned but nervous wreck & wanted to call my mommy! I owe three thousand dollars?! Wheres my tax rebate check?!
Needless to say, I went somewhere else, and surprise surprise, Elsa at HR Block did my taxes wrong. This whole process has been a friggin nightmare for me. If you hate yourself, I recommend you go see Elsa. If you want someone who knows what they are doing, go see Matt Whatley the tax ninja. He does taxes the right way!!! Im so glad I found him, but this whole experience sucked. I will be a Tax Ninja devotee from now on.
