Eyes On You Optometry

I love Eyes On You. I’ve been going there for 5 years, starting at the age of 23 with a respectful attitude and did my research on what types of frames are sold at the location (hint: designer, super cute but as we all know skews to be a little more than what people expect).
I’m appalled by the negative reviews because I’ve had nothing short of excellent, professional service — you get what you put into the situation. #humanCondition
Dr. Dagron is a sweetheart, very transparent, and thorough. He has an aristocratic air about him, so maybe that’s what people are finding off-​putting and condescending — I find it endearing and classy (it’s all perspective, he’s honestly been nothing but extremely kind when I or my colleagues have visited… we all rave about this at work). From a marketing perspective, this is the type of attitude I want to feel when I’m wearing glasses and expect that to be the environment from which I am making a purchase.
I’ve had my prescription and eye health change over the past few years, which is finally stabilizing as my eyes mature (also happened at Kaiser… so it’s not a scam, it’s how our bodies work and adjusts to new environments… such as entering into a career of staring at a computer all day). I prefer seeing Dr. Dagron vs the optometrists I’ve seen at Kaiser as he is more friendly, fashionable, and takes the time to be thorough whether unprompted or prompted through my own curious comments and questions.
I have asked the receptionists in the past for a copy of my prescription so I can purchase glasses from the internet. I continue to buy at least one pair of solid frames and lenses from Eyes on You every few years to update my main frames as fashion changes, but also like to buy fun, colorful glasses ad hoc that are more cost effective and I don’t mind throwing in my gym bag if I’m traveling. #life I’ve never had a problem getting my PD and have never had an attitude from the staff. It’s also fairly simple to measure your PD, so if you want it that badly and don’t want to pay for it, #DIY #lifeHack
I’ve never felt «followed» and have always enjoyed the help on trying on glasses. Especially since the staff is gracious enough to adjust the frame to my face to ensure the fit is comfortable. They tell me when something doesn’t work and start honing in on what I’m looking for after getting a feel for what I’m moving towards.
I’ve never felt like the staff was trying to take my money. They’ve tried to sell me on lenses, sure, but respected me when I’ve declined any additional features or new frames. Dr. Dagron convinced me to change contact brands, but not until I tried on a FREE pair of the new brand, which ended up being WAY more comfortable and longer lasting than my previous brand and has a great rebate offer #winning. We’re all adults here, the sales of glasses is part of the practice, especially at a designer optometry clinic, and an adult, I know how to respectfully decline additional services or sales. Going here and expecting to not at least indulge in what is being offered is like going to a high end restaurant and splitting the cheapest item on the menu with your friend while demanding great service for the table you sequestered for an hour of your waiters wasted time.

I came in to get my annual eye exam and to reorder contact lenses. Dr. Dagron and his staff were very professional and thorough throughout my appointment. I was briefed on each procedure before it was performed, and given an opportunity to ask any questions or concerns I had. The office is very clean, well-​maintained and offers a nice selection of cool frames that I will need to consider the next time I need a new pair. A couple days after the exam, I received my contact lenses that were mailed to my address. Couldn’t be more satisfied of the level of service and care I received.

Me: «hi, I ran out of my supply of contact lenses. I’d like to order more»
Eyes on You: «sir, you already got an year and half worth of supply. We cannot give you more lenses.»
Me:“WTF? I had a theft and all my stuff was stolen including my contact lenses. Are you telling me I should stop wearing lenses?“
Eyes on You: «sir, your contract limits you to one year supply. We cannot give you any more lenses.»
Me: «WTf? Do you want me to show you the police report? I’m willing to pay»
Eyes on You: «sir, no more lenses»
What the actual fuck?

At NO TIME was i rude or disrespectful to your staff. The use of my language is on my Unilocal review. If you want to insinuate that i was disrespectful to your staff then i am going to call you a liar because i spoke in a normal tone and manner to your staff who kept repeating again and again that they couldn’t give me more lenses.
My language is on my Unilocal review and i stand by it because that is how frustrated your staff’s unhelpful behavior made me. You, on the other hand, were aggressive and intimidatory towards me on the day and you continue to be so.

After noticing that I had frequent headaches and was squinting while crunching data on my computer at work… I decided to make myself an appointment here with Dr. Dagron and his staff at Eyes on You. I made an appointment online through ZocDoc which was really quick and easy. They texted me a reminder on the day of, which was a great.
Parking is easy, lots available on the street. I really like the hours and the fact that they are open on Saturdays –which makes it easier to fit an appointment into a busy work/​commute week. Receptionists are attentive, polite, and very friendly! :) I arrived about fifteen minutes early to do paperwork and didn’t have to wait long at all to be seen by Dr. Dagron. He was professional, friendly, and the exam seemed really quick. I appreciate how Dr. Dagron walked me through the exam and took the time to help me pick out some frames when it turned out I had a slight prescription. Less than a week later, I got a message from the office that my glasses were ready for pickup. The fast turnaround was great and staff helped me adjust my frames when I went in to pick up.
Overall, I would definitely recommend Dr. Dagron and his amazing staff! I had a great experience and am trying to get my boyfriend to go in soon to get his eyes checked because it’s been so long.

I came on a Tuesday morning to check out some frames. If you are driving into the area, give yourself an extra 30 minutes. Parking is a complete nightmare in this area and it took me quite a while to even find a 10 minute time limit spot.
I came in, was greeted. I looked around for about 10 minutes at their locked glass cases and the person working there never once asked me if she could help me to see anything. This is terrible customer service. While I appreciate a sales associate giving space to a customer, not approaching a customer for 10 minutes just because they don’t ask for help is kind of pointless. I took my business elsewhere.
Not worth the hassle of finding parking. Go to other stores with easier access and more attentive staff.

I’m new to Unilocal so I’m just learning how to post reviews and all.
First off I have vsp from my work and was looking for an eye exam place before the end of the year. I needed a place close and with good reviews. I found eyes on you and that’s only a mile from work. I read the reviews and was afraid of parking. And long lines. Yes, hate San Francisco parking. But I thought to myself what the heck let’s try during non busy hours. So i made an appointment the next day at 230. Of course I COULD NOT find any STREET parking. I was just about to leave when I notice they have multiple empty RESERVED PARKING for Eyes on You customers right across from the facility! Who knew?!
I happily walked in 15 minutes early and was expecting to wait 30 minutes (a typical Kaiser Doctor wait time) so they can see me for 10 minutes. Nope. Walked in greeted by this warm lady at the counter who went to inform the doctor that I was here. She asked me to fill out some simple paper work and within 3 minutes of me finishing the paper, a nice gentlemen greeted me with a handshake.
Ok exam went well, very thorough. He asked a lot of questions and went through the prescription. Told him I hate contacts and glasses. He didn’t flinch and was very patient with me. Oh his name is Dr. Dragon I believe. Blah blah I chose glasses at the end.
I was overwhelm with the choices of glasses but while I was looking to find some cheap glasses, Dr. Dragon recommended shapes that will fit my face. He actually recommended frames that was paid fully by my insurance. The nice lady even told me certain brands have extra discount with my insurance so I don’t have to pay anything.
If you have insurance, I highly recommend this! I say this because I don’t know how non insurance are. But Dr. Dragon and staff are not only helpful but extremely friendly.

Vince Dagron is the greatest! And he is supported by an incredible staff. If you are looking for a truly professional optometrist and some really nice frames, you cannot go wrong here. First I had some Persol frames converted into prescription sunglasses, then later got Zero G because of their good looking lightweight and strong frames. The icing on the cake was the fitting done by Dr. Dagron himself. I am rough on stuff and his adjustments last many, many months. For example, I just got clocked on the face by a heavy 1″ half sheet of plywood that I accidentally pulled off an A-​frame at work, right onto my head, BANG! and my Zero G’s went flying off my head and down onto the concrete floor. After seeing stars and making sure the bleeding wasn’t too heavy I picked up my sure to be messed up glasses, and they were PERFECT.
And they will also clean and adjust your frames anytime you stop by.
I just went in for a tune up on one pair of glasses preparing for a trip abroad, and met their new Dr. Tsang, a super nice guy and great addition to the team.
They have convenient hours, parking across the street and a decent Taqueria next door if you’re hungry or thirsty. Tip: when you go in and enthusiastically say «Hi Doctor»! when you see Vince, it sounds like «Eye Doctor»! kind of obvious! haha, so I try not to say that too much any more; but the point is that this is a great place and you’ll always feel good going there. This is a good place to get super high end expensive frames. Not such a great place for exams.
The negative reviews are mostly filtered. You’ll need to go to the filtered reviews. They are accurate.

Dr. Dagron is very professional, and explained what he was thinking throughout the exam, which I really liked. Receptionist are friendly, and they are open on Saturdays, which is great for people like me; people who think we’re gonna go «today after work» every day for two weeks, even when facing approachin blindness.
After three visits I’ve got nothing but good things to say.

Dr. Dragon was great — good sense of humor and thorough explanations. Staff was very friendly and helpful, and not at all pushy. Exam was quick, too. Will definitely be back in a year (hopefully my eyesight doesn’t deteriorate as much by then)

An absolutely amazing optometrist. I have been coming here for 5 years for glasses and contacts. They have a great style of frames and friendly staff. The place has parking across the street.

Truly amazing service! I was super late for my appointment, and the doctor didn’t even hesitate to reschedule — I was very grateful. Dr. Dagron is incredibly smart, professional and kind. I really have absolutely nothing to complain about. Definitely recommend it to anyone and everyone!

Dr. Dagron and Jorge are amazing! At my first appointment Dr. Dagron was kind, professional and thorough. I needed new frames so after the exam the doctor himself came out and helped me look. I am not used to that and thought it showed great care that the doctor would get involved at that level. He suggested one pair right away. After that he had a patient come in so he left me in the very capable and wonderful hands of Jorge. Since I’m extremely picky, I had to look at many, many frames only to end up choosing, yes, the very first frames the doctor had suggested. Jorge helped me pick out a second pair that were prescription sunglasses. I love both pairs. I got compliments on them right away. Jorge is a joy to be around and was very patient with allowing me to take my time in making my selections. He also helped me fill out some paperwork in order for me to get a rebate from the purchase of my glasses.
I had tried two other optometrists in the city and was not happy with the service so I am extremely grateful to have found such an incredibly fantastic establishment in Eyes On You.

Just went in from a routine eye checkup. I left feeling like this was the best eye exam I’ve ever had (not that I go often).
Dr Dagron’s equipment is extremely new and modern. He has an alternative for that «eye poof» pressure test that I absolutely dread. In the end we found out my old pair of glasses was actually a bit too strong for me, and he even cleared up a lot of misconceptions I had about near-​sightedness.
Yup, a pretty great visit.
The eye glass store itself is quiet clean and has nice staff helping out. Didn’t feel any pressure to buy anything more expensive, we actually settled on a frame that was completely covered by my insurance.

First, I don’t leave a lot of reviews because I don’t think I have to voice my opinion about everything I do to everyone. However, I have been a patient of Dr. Dagron over five years. Initially I chose Eyes On You because of convenience. (I used to go to a place in the Castro but this is now my go-​to place annually for my eye exam and eyewear upgrade.)
I wear contacts but I do like wearing glasses, and my gay boyfriend told me that eyeglasses are like shoes… you need to have more than just one pair. I tend to be loyal to a brand when I find pair of glasses that suits me but I love going to an eye doctor who has a selection of new styles about which I would otherwise not have known. Plus their staff has been very creative at finding the best new shoes to fit my face.
I’ll admit that I do have a soft spot for the Frenchies and my eye doctor is smart and he has a sense of humor that makes me look forward to my annual check-​ups.
Sorry, this review is selfish. I’m just feeling really good right now because I got my new glasses from them recently and while I was worried that I looked a little nerdy, I’ve had three compliments on the first day I’ve worn them…

I’m kind of ambivalent, to be honest.
I came in just looking for a pair of frames, but the lady working there that day followed me around the entire time, handing me one frame after another. I know she was just trying to be helpful, but I really would have liked to look around myself, especially since I’m insanely picky about my glasses.
I ended up settling on a pair of frames because I was just exhausted and overwhelmed from the non-​stop ‘oh these look wonderful’s — they can’t all look wonderful.
The turnaround was a little over a week, which is perfectly acceptable and a very nice guy fitted them to my face, but honestly — I just don’t like the frames and I never wear them, which amounts to about $ 500 being sent down the drain (and this was with insurance).
I wish I hadn’t gotten pushed into them and had either considered other frames or gone elsewhere. 2.5 stars, I’m rounding down.
EDIT: response to the message below: thank you, never would have thought of that myself. Oh wait… I did have someone with me, but the woman mentioned above kept shouldering her out of the way every time I tried to show her a pair of frames.

Avoid Dr. Dagron and Eyes on You Optometry at all costs. Why? Let me explain…
Summary:
Three visits to Dr. Dagron over a course of 1−½ months with a brand new prescription every time, declaration from Dr. Dagron and his staff that my eyes don’t like contact lenses anymore and that I am at an age where I need reading glasses. Blurry vision for 1−½ months, eye irritation almost the whole time, taking time off from work for the visits and over $ 500 down the drain!
Complete Story:
I saw Dr. Dagron in mid December for my annual contact lens exam. This was my first time with him although I have been wearing contact lenses for over 20 years and I really didn’t have any issues with the ones I was wearing at that time.
His first reaction was to laugh at the brand of my lenses, which I thought was weird, but didn’t think too much at that time. And that’s when the saga began. He prescribed a set of lens — new prescription, new brand — and when I received them, I immediately knew something was wrong — while the right eye had blurry vision, the left one irritated my eye! After waiting for 5 days to get a follow-​up visit scheduled, I went back for round 2.
During that visit, his first reaction, without even checking my eyes, was that the pair I was wearing was defective and I should just try a new pair. That didn’t sound logical to me, so I asked him to do another eye exam. He did a quick two minute eye exam of the right eye, and handed me a brand new prescription. Results were the same with the new set, so I called for round 3.
As soon as I walked in for round 3, his office staff delivered the judgement that «my eyes are rejecting contact lens and that I should consider switching to wearing glasses!». Dr Dagron prescribed a brand new prescription (yes, yet again!) and recommended that I wear reading glasses. I used the new lenses and the glasses, but the results were the same as before — blurry vision, discomfort with the lenses and now headache from the reading glasses.
I had enough of them by then, and called Dr. Dagron to voice my displeasure. His response — «there is nothing more I can do!». He got very hostile during the phone call and among other things, he had the gall to tell me he could have charged me for the follow-​on visits!
I am obviously never going back there, and if you love your eyes, and don’t like to waste $$$s and time, you should not either!

Dr Dagron is rude, condescending, and completely unprofessional. He mocked the quality of my eyesight and suggested that I have my parents (who are physicians) write me a prescription. He was clearly upset that I was 15 mins late for an appointment, but this is no way to treat a repeat customer. I promptly left the appointment and will never visit again.
I noticed a pattern among other reviews for Dr. Dagron on Unilocal.Customers who bought glasses or contacts through him received high quality service and were treated with patience. Those, such as myself, who told Dr. Dagron that I do not need new glasses and prefer to buy contacts online were treated in a hostile and unprofessional manner. Dr. Dagron tried to upsell me many times and became curt/​cold when I politely declined his offer. Worse yet, he refused to approve an order for online contacts by incorrectly telling my provider that my prescription had expired, when in fact it had not. I had to revisit him and obtain a new prescription — a tactic that he employed solely so that he could collect additional fees from my insurance. He is an embarrassment to an office of otherwise friendly and helpful receptionists, and it is unfortunate that his team has to suffer customer attrition as a result of his behavior.

There are many wonderful & kind optometrists in San Francisco, and many affordable optometrists in San Francisco, but I wouldn’t put Eyes on You on the top of either of those lists. The doc was thorough, but very curt with me (a first-​time customer), and didn’t measure me for pupillary distance (necessary if you want to order glasses online). The staff seemed less than pleased when I didn’t want to order frames from them.
I had to come back a second time to get my pupillary distance measured so I could place an order for Warby Parkers. I’ve since had wonderful experiences at other optometrists in SF, notably Veo, so I’m not in a rush to return to EoY.

I happily spent twice what I had intended to spend based on the level of service and care I received at Eyes On You. This was my first eye exam in a LONG time and Dr. Dagron made me feel very comfortable and there was complete transparency (no pun intended) in all of the exam procedures. Jorge then sold me the exact set of (Starck) frames that I wanted. There was another gentleman there when I went in to pick them up that had the same friendly and approachable demeanor. My only suggestion would be to purchase a quote app to build custom quotes for customers. The calculations on a post-​it note left me feeling less informed than I should have been ad a consumer.
