Dmitri Tioupine Tree Care and Preservation

In August, 2015, I stared getting estimates to clean up two pine trees in my yard. I got about 5 estimates. The estimates were all over the board, as was their knowledge of tree care. All of the companies said they could do the work within a few weeks– except Dmitri. He is a certified arborist who knows his stuff– he was the ONLY tree person who told me to trim the trees in Novemeber because sap escapes, which attracts bark beetles who will infect the tree and destroy it! In addition to this expertise, his estimate ($ 960) was lower than the others. One poor soul wanted $ 4800 for the job and he never step foot in my yard! I had to send him a photo!
The more I learned about trees, the more I reliazed what a very qualified arborist Dmitri is. Do not waste your time with a tree company that wants to come in and hack away. Dmitiri was selective in his trimming, advised me as he trimmed, and cleaned up the entire driveway area. He and his crew were very polite, professional, and great to work with. I highly recommend them for any tree care you have. You will not regret it!

He resumed his job assignment very clearly as I’m a french speaker, so it’s even easy to share it:

We just had another occasion to use Dmitri’s services. Darn, that guy is good. He and his crew do great work, on time and at a reasonable price. He also has a very good network of people who can be helpful in other areas. Yay, Dmitri!!!

Dmitri saved my freakin LIFE after Bartlett (who we’d worked with for years) strung us along for six weeks and then flat out told us there was never any way they could do our work ontime. I had just a FEW days to get a tree pruned before the city would fine me, and I had such a longstanding relationship with the previous person, I’d let that go WAY too long.
Dmitri was awesome, organized, I was out of town at the time, and at that point probably not the easiest customer to deal with because i had zero visuals to give him. He did a fantastic job but more than that it was great to have someone who really gives a shit about his clients. I’m SOOO grateful to the person who gave me this reference. We owe Dmitri big time!!!

Anyone looking for a great arborist? I can’t say enough good things about Dmitri and his crew. They were prompt, professional, tidy, and they know their stuff! Dmitri is very responsive. How’s this for responsive — he answered the phone when I called and then apologized for not being able to consult his calendar right then because he was IN A TREE. I don’t think I’ve ever spoken to someone while they were in a tree before. :-)
This is probably a temporary situation, but don’t use his website contact form to reach him. The best way is to call or email him directly. He told me he’s currently looking for a new web host, so the «contact me» form isn’t super reliable at the moment.

My 80+ foot palm tree has never looked better due to the amazing skilled work of Dmitri’s crew, Chris and Michael. I recently did a big backyard overhaul working around the Palm Tree, and when I was done I realized I had a remaining problem – the fronds on the lower quadrant of the palm were looose and unsightly, and were likely inviting unwanting critters and possibly… rodents! The lower quadrant of this tree means we are talking about a 20 foot problem!
I found Dmitri on Unilocal and I liked the sound of the way he does business. He called me back right away. I described the project, and even texted him some pictures, because being the professional he is he wanted to be sure there was access to the yard for the crew, that there would be no collateral damage around the work space, and he was honest about how far up the tree they would be able to go. The work would be done with ladders so as not to pierce the tree and expose it to diseases. His quote was fair and I agreed to the work.
He squeezed me in around another job (he is booked up, for a good reason), and he confirmed the appointment the morning of and showed up on time and ready to go. He had two great workers, Chris and Michael, who worked as a team and got to the highest reaches of that crazy palm, with two ladders, lots of tools, and (this made me happy,) safety gear. They knew what they were doing big time, and over the period of a few hours of efficient work the job was done. They had protected my new retaining wall with lots of tarps, cleaned up my yard and the neighbors yard, took away all of the fronds and solved my problem perfectly.
I am really glad I called Dmitri. He is a certified arborist and runs a very professional business. I would not hesitate to use him again.

We have used Dmitri and his crew for 3 years in a row for seasonal tree trimming, and he does fantastic work. He has pruned our trees beautifully each time, including once again just recently. Unlike other companies that we have used, Dmitri understands the science and nature of his work. I also like that he and his crew are tidy and courteous. I appreciate that they show respect for our existing landscaping, carefully protecting plants from falling/​cut debris. Dmitri remains our go-​to tree care specialist — highly recommended.

Dmitri has been caring for the three large street trees in the sidewalk along the side of my property in San Francisco since 2003. His artistry in keeping these trees healthy, strong, and beautiful over the years is deeply valued and appreciated. He brought one sickly-​looking tree back from the brink, and in one season it was flourishing. Since then, he has done maintenance pruning and shaping every 2 – 3 years. He has also been quickly available to deal with urgent care, such as when a truck snagged a limb and tore it off the tree. He is thoughtful in his approach, keeps the health and longevity of the tree in mind, has outstanding aesthetic sense, and he and his crew are always professional and trustworthy.

We used Dmitri Tioupine to trim our tall liquidambar tree last year. Very knowledgeable and did an excellent job — he was thorough and thoughtful and easy to work with.

I had a pine tree that was planted too close to another fast growing tree. The pine grew leaning and misshapen. Looked really bad. Considered removing. Dmitri: «cool — we’ll make a giant bonsai out of it». When he finished my yard was a work of art. He’s done my trees since. Cannot recommend highly enough.

Fantastic work. Dmitri trimmed several large trees and remove another one following some damage. He organized all street permits required, explained all aspects of his work and left the area looking great.
Payment from the HOA took longer than I expected and Dmitri was exceptionally patient. I would not hesitate to use him again, in fact I need to make an appointment with him to trim the trees later this year.

Dmitri and his team trimmed the pine tree hanging over the fence from my neighbor, plus did some work on several other trees. They really care about trees! I had a vine growing up over a tree. They said «It would be good for the tree to remove the vine. The vine won’t care, and the tree would be happier.» Very careful about my other plants, and left the garden cleaner than when they started. Nice.

I called Dmitri for an estimate to have some trees removed. He asked me why I wanted to remove them. He said he won’t remove a tree unless you have a good reason. Maybe you could consider him if you want your trees trimmed, but don’t bother if you just want them removed. What an attitude!

Last Spring I contacted three arboritsts (or wanna be’s) about a large job in my back yard. Several responded (two were from Unilocal) but Dmitri was the only really responsive bid with a full quote, knowledgeable suggestions, and complete current insurance coverage. Surprisingly, he was also the lowest price.
Dmitri arrived with a crew of three others as promised. He and his crew worked all day and did a magnificant job on one large eucalyptus and three towering pines. They were careful, considerate of the neighbors’ properties, and paid good attention to the details of the job. Only small problem is that one of the helpers didn’t cut up cuttings from the trees into small enough pieces for me to manage through green waste over time. I wasn’t home to check that at the end of the job.
Dmitri is a consummate professional. He’ll definitely do any more tree work I may have.

It was a nasty, rainy day and a huge chunk of one of my acacia trees broke off and leaned against my neighbor’s roof. Dmitri and his crew were here in no time and had the problem solved before the neighbor even knew there was a problem. (whew)
He’s great to work with, he has always come in under his original estimates, and he leaves the grounds spotless.
I plan to use him again soon to remove the evil eucalyptus that pollutes my side yard.

Dmitri is a true professional. When there was a mis-​communication (totally my fault) about me accepting his bid he not only fit me into his schedule on the same day but he did a really amazing job as well.

Dmitri was great. He came out exactly when he said he would and spend a while talking with us about our trees. He had a lot of good ideas about how to shape the trees to keep them healthy and looking good. He and his crew showed up on time, did a great job very quickly, and cleaned everything up. Every since we moved in this house last year, we’d like to do something about the trees in the back yard.
Bck in June 2007, I got a name and number of one tree pruning company from my landscaper, but that company was fully booked. That company recommended Dmitri Tioupine Tree Care instead. It turns out that Dmitri was great person to work with. Dmitri not only talked to us from his professional experience but also spent time to talk to my neighbors and made sure that my neighbors were comfortable about trimming the trees. At the end, another neighbor wanted him back for a different project.
Now I have a good sunny back yard. I highly recommend Dmitri’s service!
