The Center for Learning in Retirement (CLIR) provides educational and cultural opportunities for people 50 and older. Created by UC Berkeley Extension in San Francisco, CLIR offers the best continuing education value in Northern California. Membership is open year round to any person 50 and older and provides:

” UC Extension classes at a 20% discount; $ 100 maximum, each semester

” Access to free daytime peer-​led classes at UC Extension San Francisco location

” Social events, and

” Cultural events

Special Audiences is an optional program that provides free tickets to theatre, musical and dance production.

Classes and teachers very good, but it’s the enthusiasm and knowledge of CLIR members that make this group so stimulating and so much fun. And at $ 250 per year (for which you get a range of free classes and activities) with an optional program offering free tickets to great music and theater, it’s a bargain too! My husband and I have been members for about 4 years, made great friends there. It’s a wonder everybody does join up, but on the other hand I’m glad CLIR remains a small select group of interesting people in San Francisco.
