Buttons Candy Bar

I was greeted by the lady at the counter as soon as I stepped in. My eyes were filled by some child-​like amazement once I saw the colorful treats. Aside from a variety of candies and chocolates, there is a video rental at the back of the store.
Since most of the candies at the place were somehow pricey, it took several minutes for me to decide the food I wanted to try. I bought the caramel popcorn mixed with nuts such as almonds, cashews and peanuts.
I’ll definitely return for more treats.

Donna the sales person (not the owner) as she introduced herself had me cracking up!!! She LOVES her job, and who wouldnt love working in a camdy store! There is a fabulous selection of chocolates and sweerts! It s a must stop whem in Noe Valley!!!

This is a great, fun family store offering a huge assortment of delicious candies, chocolate, alongside excellent movies (Blu-​ray and DVD for rental or purchase). Video Wave, a Noe Valley legacy, recently moved to this great new location from their old location on Castro. I wish that Video Wave could have taken all of their long-​standing five star reviews with them to their new location, just 3 blocks away. Fellow-​Yelpers will hopefully be able to find this new location equally as pleasing and Unilocal about it. Their Motto is ‘we know movies’! And I wholeheartedly agree! Kids and adults will have a great time in this store and will not be disappointed. Great to see how a candy store could leverage the synergies of movies to make this store and shopping experience a real ‘treat’ for consumers in so many ways!

Came by because my son loves candy, this store was small but had a lot of variety!
The back of the store was another store, old videos to rent? Idk but I thought it was kinda cool how there were two different stores in one!
Anyways, there were huge jars of candy behind the register as well as in front of the counter. My son was seriously «like a kid in a candy store» Lol.
He picked out those gummy hamburgers and hot dogs. I picked up those fake cigarette candy for my mother because she said she used to eat those when she was little.
And 5 stars for Yolanda. She greeted us right when we walked in. She was very friendly and sweet! She gave us a sample of the gummy bear covered with sprinkles? It was delicious!

Fantastic place to get treats for the kiddos. I stop by here occasionally with the niece and nephew and they love picking candies from the jars. Happy moments that they’ll probably remember forever. The Asian lady at the counter is super friendly and nice and has been in Noe Valley forever. Great neighborhood place!

Absolutely adorable! I was drawn in recently by all the old-​fashioned-​style Easter candy. So cute! The woman who helped me (she said she isn’t the owner) was unbelievably nice, enthusiastic, and helpful. She made it a really fun experience for me. I can’t wait to create my beautiful Easter baskets this year!

Cute candy spot with super friendly folk. They got a host of stuff you might not have seen since you were a kid too. Plus, while most people hate it, she’s got a ton of licorice and you’ll get to try little samples to pick the one you want. Nice. The back half of the store is actually a different store… kinda crazy… but the front half is all about the sweet sweet candy… bam!

Just noticed the gold coins I bought yesterday (feb20) are for Christmas and not cheap, not fresh. ½ soap shop now soap and candy?

I felt like a kid again when I came here. They really have an amazing display and there’s plenty of candy to choose from! Really if I was a kid again this would be my first stop before and after school. They prices are bit higher but the candy taste great. I tried their taffy and it was good. Not sure what I should compare to because I don’t really eat that much candy especially taffy.

I’m perplexed. I love taffy, and my best friend knows it. She was in Noe Valley yesterday, and she bought me a bunch of taffy from Buttons; all different flavors. Now if I’m not mistaken, taffy should come out of the paper in a piece so one can bite it or pop the whole thing in the mouth. Unfortunately, every single piece of taffy was stuck to the paper, and kind of gooey. Does this mean that the taffy was old, or not stored properly? Whatever the reason, it was a very disappointing, and sticky, experience.

In a word, overpriced. Nothing special here, although their window displays are cute. Better off going to Chocolate Covered on the same side of the street for some quality chocolate rather than this garbage.

Super cute candy store and I’m all about the visual aspect of a business.
We went in after lunch at Griddle Fresh craving some sweets and was greeted with 6+ middle school girls running all over the store picking out their favorite sweets. We only wanted a couple things but had to wait till the lady (owner?) helped everyone else first. We don’t mind waiting but the candy was overpriced and the lady looked extremely unorganized. The layout of the store was very cute but it’s not practical. Most of the items she has to help you scoop and it looks like a spot that has a lot of theft. Super easy to walk out without paying. Maybe get more workers or move some fixtures around.

It’s cute but the candy is insanely overpriced. I accept overpriced candy when it’s good, hard to find candy but this is GROCERY STORE candy in glass jars. Not even grocery store — COSTCO. You know those gross caramel apple lollipops? They charge a dollar for that. They actually cost twenty cents when you get a box of them from Costco. Blegh. And I don’t want to be mean but the Asian lady working there when I went in was so talkative that I didn’t want to stay in the shop. She went beyond friendly. You couldn’t get a word in…

Adorable candy boutique on 24^th in Noe Valley. The owner is super nice and very knowledgable about candy and candy makers. She has an array of chocolates, licorice, gummies, sour gummies, taffys, popcorn and nostalgic candy. She also has really nicely wrapped treats like chocolate covered fudge and rice crispie treats that make great little gifts for friends/​family.
Buttons is a really cute store and there is a cute store pup who knows some really cool tricks. He’s soft, loves pets and likes to visit with the other neighborhood shops.
We came here for a «How About We For Couples» Candy Tasting date which had us leaving full and buzzed on sugar and nostalgia. We learned a lot about some candy we’ve known forever and got to try some pieces we’ve never had before.
They also have ice cream!
I walked out with a few taffy flavors I don’t see many places including: Red Velvet, Frosted Cupcake, and Maple Bacon: D

Nice selection of bulk candies, but not truly extensive. But quite a few licorice choices, which is nice. Very overpriced, IMO. But very nice and inviting. Very friendly counterperson. Edit: How the hell does this place have a one-​$ price rating?

The staff is friendly and the candy is plentiful! They have everything from chocolate to taffy to gummy’s and my favorite… Sour Watermelons! This is a great place for kids to load up on some sweets after completing some homework or doing the chores! And I hear they now have caramel corn and in different varieties… Have to go back and get me some of that!

BEWARE They don’t take returns for non perishable items. I bought a cookie jar there for $ 130 which I shortly discovered was plentiful on eBay for $ 25. I tried to return it but I get there and find there are no returns. The owner was hostile and rude and said no small stores take returns which is ridiculous. I got royally screwed by a greedy seller who I feel is unethical. There are no signs anywhere stating the return policy and u get a big surprise if you spend $$$ for her HIGHLY INFLATED PRICES for common vintage items. The chocolate candy at the front case I had was stale and overly sweet. The new yo-​yo I bought there fell apart as soon as I opened it as well. HORRIBLE.

Whimsical little candy shops are becoming hard to find. As a sugar fanatic, you can imagine my excitement when I was walking by Buttons. I was initially drawn in by the old-​school cartoon lunch boxes in the front window, but once I stepped inside I was captivated by the walls lined with colorful candy in glass jars and then immediately seduced by my one true love: chocolate covered gummy bears.
There are baskets of saltwater taffy everywhere and some cool finds, including Chocolate Charleston Chews and the seasonal Caramel Apple Pops, typically only seen around Halloween. Ice cream treats can be found at the back wall with childhood favorites like Choco-​tacos and drumsticks.
At the counter they have specialty chocolates (think See’s Candy) that you can pick out individually and are sold by the pound. I picked out a dark chocolate covered caramel with sea salt, a turtle, and a dark chocolate coated marshmallow/​caramel and they were all delicious!
Some of the candy is a bit pricey, but I like to think that it encourages some self-​control while I’m in here. While not all the candy is unique, there are some good finds and the service is extremely personable and friendly. A very cute sweets shop that strikes the perfect balance between modern and cute, and nostalgic old-​fashioned charm. A worthy addition to Noe Valley!

Buttons Candy Bar, a delightful new store in Noe Valley, harkens back to the days when candy stores (and the people who worked in them) made wishes come true. The experience is colorful, happy, and filled with delicious nostalgia.

Sweeeeet! A candy store in Noe Valley will be a great addition to the street. They offer ice cream, which is housed in a small freezer in the back of the store. Inside you’ll find It’s Its, Choco Tacos, Ice Cream Sandwiches, and cups of Malted Ice Cream, which include that little wooden spoon.
It’s adorable inside, with lots of color and a large television on the wall playing favorites like Peter Pan so the kids don’t focus too much on how many pounds of sugar they can hide in their pockets before being caught. In addition to the well-​known brands of candy, they offer a case of specialty chocolates. Although they don’t compare to Chocolate Covered down the street which has every bar known to man, Buttons does have one brand of handmade chocolate to offer, which is perfect for this type of store.
Take a seat on one of the little chairs by the window, eat your Choco Taco, and watch the percentage of tantrums go up exponentially as kids of Noe Valley walking by begin to realize this place exists.
