Specialties
The Bodywork Institute is a safe haven for anybody suffering from pain or looking to improve function. We offer bodywork and professional education in bodywork. Our mission is to heal the planet one body at a time.
Our unique approach provides an extremely effective method of resolving pain complaints that is more clinical than a typical massage while it is profoundly comfortable to receive.
In a typical session, your body is taught to relax while chronic and acute issues are dissolved. The work is deep, profound, gentle and has long lasting effects.
The Bodywork Institute specializes in teaching advanced techniques for treating pain due to common orthopedic conditions.
History
Established in 1989.
The Bodywork Institute has never advertised. Our business has grown by word of mouth referrals from many happy clients.
Our work is grounded in ancient traditions melded with current scientific research resulting in a profoundly effective and gentle modality.
The human body is an amazingly intricate living sculpture. If you have a body, then you deserve the benefits of this amazing work. We specialize in pain relief and functional improvement for our clients.
As educators in the field of manual therapy, we aim to elevate the standard in our profession by teaching our students how to work deeply and effectively without injury or repetitive stress to their own body.
Peter and Geffen are dedicated to elevating the field of manual therapy to a standard of excellence and care available to «anybody with a body!»
Meet the Business Owner
Peter R.
Business Owner
«The Body is a Living Sculpture»
Peter was born into a family of artists. He brings this creative sensibility into his massage practice and teaching style.
Peter began his bodywork practice in 1989. He went on to study with Tom Hendrickson, the founder of Hendrickson Method® Orthopedic Massage, at the Institute of Orthopedic Massage, Berkeley. Peter worked at the Hendrickson clinic for 6 years and during the course of 1 years and over 1000 hours of advanced training, Peter earned the title of a senior instructor of this powerfully effective therapeutic technique. He assisted Tom Hendrickson to refine the teaching manual for the 200 hour professional certification course into the textbook, Massage for Orthopedic Conditions, Lippincott, 2003.
When he is not teaching this work, Peter maintains a very busy massage practice in San Francisco.
