Of course our Niman Ranch Burgers cooked to order are our specialty but we offer a full selection of Veggie Burgers and Turkey Burgers as well as many Fresh Garden Salads all with house made dressings. We also are proud to offer a full sitdown breakfast menu starting at 7:30 am. On occassion, we feature fresh fish on the menu as a Daily Special.

History

Established in 1993.

Bistro Burger opened their first restaurant in 1993 in the Financial District of San Francisco primarily to offer the early risers, stock brokers and traders a mid-​morning quality food option for lunch. Over the years we have greatly expanded our menu to provide really great food served quickly to the on-​the-​go business crowd. Now with 5 downtown locations, Bistro Burger is the place to meet and eat for breakfast or lunch in a comfortable dining environment.

Business Owner

The owners of Bistro Burger include the principals Adrian Bonnar and Jimmy Himler. Together they bring over 25 years of experience working within the specialty retail and hospitality sectors. As a rule, the owners and the staff go completely out of their way to ensure that the customer’s overall experience is memorable and enjoyable. Bistro Burger’s managers are always available for conversation and feedback. Bottom line; Adrian and Jimmy love for all customers to have a great dining and social experience every time.

God I love French fries, tator tots, and onion rings!!! Unfortunately this is the ONLY place in the mall that serves them all.
If you have time on your hands then totally order here if you have time to kill. Or if you want to travel a bit, just go up the street to burger bar for better service… Faster service.

What a crappy burger! Don’t waste you money or your stomach at this place. Expensive burger made with cheap ingredients. They should do everyone a favor and just close so a real burger shop can move in.

Great option in the food court if you just want a quick burger fix. Your order will come out in about 5 – 10 minutes, so it’s also nice if you’re trying to catch a movie or a play down on Market street.
Prices are a bit high though. I got the 3 slider combo ($ 9.75) and chose the cheeseburger, bacon burger, and meatball parmesan. All come on the same small bread roll, and all were satisfyingly juicy. The meatball was a bit small on portion size for the meat though.
For $ 4.95 extra, you can get fries and a drink. I got the curly fries, which were a bit dry and mealy. Definitely could have used more fries for that price. The drink can be a bottle of water (vs. a fountain soda), but I didn’t drink it all down and sadly forgot it in the bathroom on my way out.

I got food-​poisoning here. This was the WORST «gourmet» burger I have ever had.
I am going to use this opportunity to urge my fellow Unilocalers to patronize a locally-​owned restaurant whenever possible. Chains and franchises like this are destroying our communities by driving up rents. They are detroying our economy by hiring minimum-​wage workers; usually exploiting immigrants. And they are destoying our health by serving mostly processed food that is not fresh or organic.
I found myself here because Super Duper had a 10-​minute line (I know they’re not local, but where else you gonna get a burger downtown?). I had to use the restroom in the basement of Westfield, and so I walked around and checked out the food court. I NEVER eat in these places except in emergencies; this is the Land Of Over-​Priced Entrees. It was my work-​out day, so I was determined to get a burger. Big mistake.
I just ordered a simple cheeseburger w/​o lettuce, and fries. $ 14 with tip! The bun was like styrofoam, truly the worst «bread» I’ve ever tasted, obviously more chemicals and extenders than wheat. The burger appears to be large, but it was as thin as a dime, and basically tasteless. And to make matters worse, I started feeling ill later that night, and spent the next day in bed. I’m calling the health department today.

Perfectly acceptable but mostly unremarkable. It’s about what I expected at a mall food court.
I got a cheeseburger and tater tots. The cheeseburger was just fine at the price of $ 8. The tater tots were crispy, but I wish there was more than just a «large» size for $ 7. Couple those with a drink and it was a $ 19 meal at the food court.
They do cook to order and so it took between 5 – 10 minutes to get my food. Not a bad wait at all.
I didn’t love it but it was serviceable and filling… not bad overall.

Had the meatball sandwich. The bread was a thin loaf shaped but, like brioche but poor quality. The sauce was super runny making the bread overly soggy. AND to top it all off the meatballs weren’t meatballs, they were herbed pork patties. Disappointing sandwich for the almost $ 11 price tag, this did noy include fries or a drink. Next time I EVER crave a meatball sandwich I will remember to go to subway over this ripoff place.

First off, let me start by saying I never really complain about food. The service was atrocious– wrong order, over charged me even after I questioned the costs. Quality of the burger was like Burger King! I paid $ 17.00 for Burger King quality food, waited 25 min and had to beg for more than one napkin. Stay away!

The last time I was here the food was not as good, and the girl with the interesting haircut was no longer as nice as she was when she first started. This all made me look at the prices differently, wondering if it’s worth it now. I haven’t been back since.

I think this is the worst burger I’ve ever had. Tasteless and soggy in all aspects this overpriced slump of food had to have been microwaved in the back. Honestly, how does the gross slosh of old avocado on top become hotter than the patty? The obviously microwaved state of my burger was only made more insulting by the cashier asking, «how would you like your burger cooked?»
My friend and I payed $ 27 for two burgers and a side of soggy curly fries only to take two bites and make a blood pact to never return

So, I literally started laughing out loud when I started reading the reviews on here for this Bistro Burger! It looks like the majority either hates this place or you haven’t tried the MAHI MAHI BURGER! It is the best Mahi Mahi burger I have ever had! You have the option of getting a whole whole wheat bun and it comes with avocado aioli and mango salsa. The fish is always cooked to perfection with just enough seasoning and no breading. I am VERY PICKY about fish and this burger never disappoints! I always get the sweet potato fries too – never had a bad batch. :D

The French burger is horrible. Take it from me, mushrooms and brie bring eachothers funky nuances out in way that ruins both delicious items. Furthermore, Bistro: I could tell your sautéed mushrooms were old and scary even though you sautéed them. I picked all the shrooms out, you know how mushrooms get that scary fishy smell when they’re old and they get wrinkly and slimey? Bistro burger thought they could sautée those and I wouldn’t notice. Barf.
The cubano burger is good and obviously so is the California burger (read: avocado). But if you want to have a good Bistro Burger experience, go to the Bush st location a few blocks away btwn Kearny and Montgomery. The Westfield location has gross pickles that they begrudgingly ration out and they charge for ranch. The Bush location had delicious pickles and ranch that both are aplenty and available for you to pile on you plate (or in your pockets — I don’t do this but I’m just saying, it’s possible to do, I mean, how do you even make that kind of ranch? The world will never know. I’m an avid cook, some would say a gourmand and I can’t make good ranch, I can make decent, but like it’s not like restaurant ranch… I fear it will never be… am I still reviewing this food court place?
Oh and if you order a small garlic fries at this Westfield location, they come in a bowl the size of a tuna can, the Bush location gives you way more than you can justify finishing.

If I could give this place half a star it would still be to much. My server Gloria was rude and either didn’t understand the POS system or just didn’t care. I ordered a Cuban burger with a turkey patty and that just seemed to fluster her to death. Then when I finally got my order it was a regular beef patty, but I wasn’t about to try and take it back it would have been too much trouble :-(

My family and I were at an indie video game convention called Day of the Devs. We were out late and looking for something to eat. So we walked to the Westfield Mall. I couldn’t decide what I wanted from the food court so, seeing as how hamburgers are my favorite food I went to Bistro Burger. I ordered a cheese burger. It took a long time for me to get my food. The hamburger was just gross. The only cheese was a little glob in the middle of the patty, the patty it’s self was tasteless, and the buns were stale. The fries were the only good things on the plate. I could have made a better burger in my sleep.

Don’t eat here! This is not the same Bistro Burger experience as the one on Mission. The burgers and food are not the same! This location is fast food burgers with frozen everything along with rude workers. I usually order the «Royale Burger» and this location doesn’t even have it on the menu. It’s just called bleau cheese burger with A-​1 sauce. I ordered it and was disappointed. The patty was tiny not juicy and the overall burger was dry and not tasty. My fave to typically order are the onion rings with «Neiman ranch sauce» and this place served me completely different rings and gross ranch sauce. I asked the worker are the rings supposed to be all stuck together and he looked at me like I had sh*t on my face, lol! The rings were nasty and frozen! Never again!

I admit that I usually skip this place in the mall as there usually isn’t a line and it makes me think that the burgers cant be all that good here. I should have stuck with my intuition…
I got the cajun chicken sando with curly fries today. It litereally took almost 25 minutes to get my to go order. Granted it was extremely busy in the food court, including Bistro Burger but 25 minutes seems a bit extreme.
Once I got to start the meal, I noticed that the curly fries (alghough a fair amount) were mostly the small broken types of fries that were probably sitting at the bottom of the tray as they were ‘overfried and greasy’. Some of them so overcooked that they they the shell crunched because the inside potato was gone. The cajun chicken sando was probably one of the worst things I have eaten in a while. I felt that it was competing with a fast food sandwich where the bread rips away too easily and there is no real substance to it. All I could taste with sugary bread and L-​T-​O. The chicken was incredibly skimpy (the beef burgers looked that way too) and really bland.
A chicken sandwich and fries that cost $ 15 should at least taste like you are eating a chicken sandwich and fries. What I just ate was pure rubbish. It reminded me of what you may have a concession stand for a kids little league game, but for $ 5 instead of $ 15.

I should’ve read the reviews. Was going to Catch Isle but my coworker wanted a burger and we were hooked by the pictures for the place on Westfield’s website. That photographer was paid super well cuz those photos made the burgers look too good to pass up.
Reality was far from what was displayed. Ordered the California Avocado burger (avocado was a brown guac mush), the Cajun Chicken burger (meh) and the trio of sliders (small and everything was overcooked).

Update Had a superb salmon burger with fries, it was so very delicious i had to add a star.
Previous: Very difficult to stand out in the burger space, the nature of the business. Service at Bistros was good, my order did not take long. Ordered Cheeseburger double patty, reg fries. Both entries met the standard. The lettuce, tomato and onion were fresh. The bun toasted, and beef patty’s thick. It does have a particular flavor some might like others might not. Still Its a burger and its worth a try.

I just finished eating my meal and I couldn’t possibly wait another minute to write this review.
First off, I ordered a Bacon Cheeseburger. With onions and tomatoes. I then decide to add curly fries. This chick, who must hate her job btw, did not tell me that for the same price to make it a meal I can get a drink too. Fine. I would have just gotten water anyway.
I bring the food back, open up the box, peeked under the bun and lo-​and-​behold, no bacon. By this time though, I was hungry and too far to go back. So I start eating. This has to be, by farrrr, the most boring and driest burger ever. I can make a better burger in my backyard. The meat was over cooked and there was no mayo/​ketchup no anything. This is so sad. McDonald’s would have been a better choice.
I’m so sad… This is such a disappointing meal. All for $ 12 plus tax. Should have walked a little further to Super Duper!
