My partner came in yesterday to inquire about renting a space and told me the owner was extremely nice but that I would have to come by the next day to fulfill the rental.
I showed up today a little before 4 and the owner was extremely nice as I expected. He told me he would show me the unit and then… For reasons I don’t understand, he began accusing my partner of not telling me that rentals don’t start after 4pm. When I pointed out that it wasn’t 4pm yet he told me that all the clocks were wrong and that I would have to come in another day. I showed him my phone with the time and he said «that’s very good for you!» and waved me out condescendingly.
No store owner should ever treat anyone like that the other customers present were just stunned and silent.
I walked down the street to Extra Space where I was told a number of customers have experienced that at Attic.

I recently used Attic Storage for a month in between moves and I cannot say enough good things about them! Friendly, helpful, honest and generous. They also play classical music on the loudspeakers all day, which helps make your experience a more pleasant one.

Needed storage when I moved from Dallas to San Francisco and lucked out when I found Attic Storage. The gentleman who helped me on the phone searched for a unit that would accommodate all my stuff and even took pics! The facility is clean, the staff is friendly and I never worry about security. Definitely recommend.

I have rented 2 storage units from this business for the past 3+ years. I gave notice to vacate, and was told by Steve that I would have until the 15^th of March to remove all stored items, and that my auto pay on my credit card would not be charged again. The 15^th of March, 2015 fell on a Sunday. I asked Steve, at Attic, if I could possibly have until 1 pm on Monday, the 16^th of March, to remove my belongings. I was told «no problem». My guys were out before 1 pm, and the units were left in excellent condition. However, my credit card was charged $ 121.00, the next billing cycle. When I inquired of Steve the reason for this, I was given such a run-​around, that I could not decifer what his point was. Huge disappointment! I was a great customer for 3+ years. I should have written this review YEARS ago. Attic Self Storage is an A+++ business!!! We’ve been their customers since 1987 and have had zero complaints the entire time.
They’re always open during their posted business hours, 7 days a week. I’ve been around when a customer was having a screaming meltdown over their unpaid bill and the staff STILL remained calm and polite.

Decent place, mostly decent people, one guy is really awful (management: can you guess who?).
I had an incident where I was at my storage unit around closing time. At 5:29 (they closed at 5:30), I went upstairs to grab a dolly and carry my final piece of cargo out, to leave.
When I got upstairs, the bald man at the front was literally SCREAMING at me. Like a child! Like, high-​pitched whiny man yell. (Seriously, *temper tantrum-​grade fit*)
He was screaming that ‘I had to leave!’, ‘Get out!’, and ‘I should just leave my all stuff out in the hallway and the door to my unit unlocked!’ (wtf, really?) and to ‘return at 8AM!’. By then, it was *literally* 5:30 on the dot. (At the time, I wouldn’t have even doubted this guy was crazy enough to even call the cops on me. One more reminder: it was literally 5:30PM.)
He ended up grabbing the dolly from me, refusing to let me use it. Well, wtf man, I have a huge AC unit sitting in the hallway right now. Let’s use *some* reasonableness here…
So I had to go downstairs and let my friend know we had to go stat and we had to hand carry our huge, back-​breaking cargo, all because the man at the front was having a hissyfit that it was 5:30 (literally, mind you) and we were still in the building.
By time we carried the cargo all the way out from the downstairs, loaded it in our car, and were driving through the gate, the time on my iPhone was ***5:33PM***.
On the way out, I pointed out that, for all the screaming + crying he did, it was 5:33PM and it would be better customer service to, perhaps, lighten up a bit. He yelled at me ‘follow the rules or move out!’. Guess that’s how they appreciate their longtime customers? (I’ve been pleasantly using them for a year… I’ve seen this guy, he knows who I am, and all has otherwise been good, before this.)
So yeah, really fucking awful customer service. Avoid the bald man at all costs, if you want a pleasant experience.

I had 40 pounds of confidential papers to shred, and I called Shred Works to ask about the SF store in Attic Storage. The price is right: $ 20 for up to 3 bankers boxes. I had the equivalent of two boxes, and the woman at the counter apologized that she had to charge me the minimum.
A gentleman carried the second box from the car for me. I paid, then realized there was a Unilocal offer, and the pair running the shop canceled my credit purchase and gave me the discount. They were super nice and professional.

single gal in the city and i needed a safe place well lit and friendly staff couldnt ask for a better place .the hours could be a little longer but close to all and i liked that

My mom and I (and now just I) have had a space here for over 20 years. Now I have two spaces for a total of about 325 square feet, and I pay $ 447 total per month ($ 158 for 100 sqft and $ 289 for 225 sqft).
I think it’s an old brewery that has been converted to storage spaces, so each space is different. One of my spaces has a «curb» on one end with a drain in it, for example. The other has a bunch of random pipes running along the wall (great for hanging clothes). So, if they show you a space you don’t like, and you’re desperate, take it, then keep asking them whether other spaces have opened up, and you’ll eventually get an ideal space. I myself really like the third floor because two ends of it are along the outside wall and have windows and fabulous natural light, plus it’s really quiet, and there’s not much foot traffic, so I can work in peace when I’m there.
The staff is extremely efficient and professional, while at the same time being approachable and friendly. They have had lots of experience dealing with a rather eccentric clientele — this is not your average yuppie storage facility.
The place is not much to look at, but it’s very clean, and there are plenty of rolling carts in the lobby for tenants to use.
The rent here is a bit lower than the more modern built-​from-​the-​ground up facilities, but not by much.
You’ll have everything you need to make your experience here easy.
Every space is framed by drywall that is about 10 feet high, and usually is covered with chicken wire on the top. Each space is alarmed, so you have to punch in your code to disarm the alarm when you arrive, then punch out when you leave. The alarms are all reset at night though there is no night security.
If you forget to enter your code, the alarm will sound all over the facility for a couple of seconds (more like a bell than a car alarm) and the staff will see which unit it was.
There’s a huge freight elevator. One drawback is that the doors do not close automatically when someone exits, and you cannot close the doors remotely, so if someone exits and forgets to close the door, nobody else can use it.
There are video cameras on the freight elevator on every floor except the ground floor, so the staff can see which floor it’s on and announce on the loudspeaker that whoever it is should go back and close the door. This usually doesn’t help.
This doesn’t happen a lot, but often enough that I find it annoying.
The men’s and women’s bathroom are immaculately clean, but a long walk to the back of the building. They just built a new handicapped restroom right off the office, which is huge and beautiful, and they are letting everybody use it — woot!
There are two huge loading bays if you want to back a U-​Haul or truck right up to the main lobby area. You can also drive in, there’s room for four cars and I almost never have trouble getting a spot inside, except sometimes on weekends. I park there for several hours sometimes when I am working in my space. Street parking on the side street (Florida) is pretty good. And there’s a small lot outside as well with perhaps 8 spaces.
Rent is due on the 1^st and must be paid by the 10^th to avoid a 15% late fee (ouch). You WILL be locked out of your space on the 11^th if you haven’t paid your rent, so beware!
If you pay for a year in advance you only have to pay for 11 months and the 12^th month is free.
I believe new tenants get the first month free if they pay for three months… but it’s been so long since I rented the space I’m not sure about that.
Some of the spaces are pretty dark — none has electricity so you have to bring your own battery-​powered light or rely on the overhead lights. If you’re going to rent a space, be mindful of how bright it is. There are also a few electrical outlets randomly spaced, though I’m not sure whether we are allowed to use them. I have two spaces — one is really dark and the overhead light from outside in the corridor doesn’t really illuminate it that well (though, well enough to see); the other is on the third floor on a window and has beautiful natural light.
Because of the huge freight elevator, I wouldn’t worry about what floor you rent on — you can move anything to any floor with complete ease. However, some aisles are more narrow than others, something else to keep in mind when you’re picking out a space.
Also, if you are going to store wool item, be sure to store them in moth-​proof containers. My mom used to shop at thrift stores and buy wool items and just toss them in willy-​nilly, and they were ruined by moths. Now I use the pheromone traps (from amazon) and they work GREAT.

I have been a customer for 10+ years.
I do not have any complains.
I find the people at the desk always very nice and helpful.
And they keep the storage area clean.

this place is fantastic. after several years at another storage facility, complete with price-​gouging and crappy customer service, i moved my stuff in here. i looked at three other places; attic had the the most friendly and knowledgeable employees and the best prices.

I am very happy about this storage facility. The staff was extremely helpful and Ido S. was right about the low prices on the boxes. The units are priced right too!

OMG — what a dump! Dirty, dingy and poor customer service. I stopped by to check it out as I am seeking a place to store my furniture and this was the WORSTplace I’ve been to. Stay away — far, far away!

I stored my belonging here for about 3 yrs while I was traveling around the world on business. Occasionally back for short bouts to visit SF again, and would stop by to exchange my wardrobe depending on the weather.
Every point of dealing with this family run small business was a pleasure. They were helpful from beginning to end.
I support small, local business for many reasons. One of the big reasons is that they are usually run more personably and offer better service overall. This place is no exception.
I’m back for a long while now, and have a home in which to keep my belongings for the time being. But should I ever need storage again, I wouldn’t hesitate to use these guys n gals once more.
I highly recommend them.

Nice people. Reasonable prices. Clean and well-​maintained. Plenty of rolling carts to borrow. Small parking lot available.
I wish they were open later hours, but otherwise no complaints.

This is the place to go if you need boxes to move…
Boxes range from $ 2-​$ 5, MUCH cheaper than U-​haul or UPS or any other place for that matter.
Just a warehouse and they sell boxes as well — you heard it hear — cheap boxes for moving

These guy are a good deal and super friendly. Plus, I got ½ off for my first month and they pro-​rated me. The fact that they have a candy dish in the lobby doesn’t hurt either. I reccommend.
