(10 so far: 131 miles and climbing!) Wiz Events definitely knows how to have fun! Along with their other fun-filled, action-packed, and colorfully-themed runs – like Peace/Love/Run, Girls on the Go, Mardi Gras San Diego, and the Patriot Run – Wiz’s Spooktacular Half Marathon(now in its 3rd year) promised to be just as cool, just as scenic, and just as memorable. Well, mission accomplished! What’s also very cool are the tech shirts, at least the ones given for the Half: long-sleeved and black with the skeletal duo celebrating upon whirling cascades of color. Highly energetic! And the medals… SPOOKTACULAR! In fact, the medal itself was one of my main reasons for registering. Plus, the run is in San Dimas, at the Frank G. Bonelli Regional Park. It really is beautiful running around the lake. I stopped for a few great shots along the way. Scenic, to say the least! Watch for this race as it makes its way through Los Angeles County again next year. It also runs through San Diego, by the way. If there is indeed a «challenge» for running both counties’ Halfs – and I do in fact mean an awesome challenge medal – I’m in. Wiz Events, I am definitely looking forward to running with you again. See you next year!(And next time, I’ll costume up!)

I had decided last-minute to try and run the Spooktacular Half Marathon. I read that same-day registrations would be taken. I had friends who were running this so I tagged along. When we got there, I was told it was«sold-out» and no more registrations would be taken. I kept asking to talk to someone to see if maybe there was a way I could still register, since I came all this way and I was all dressed and ready to run blah blah. They finally pointed to someone who may be able to help… Rosemary. Boy oh boy she was a lifesaver! She was awesome! She completely helped me out! I was a happy camper er. runner. The race itself was nice. The scenery was beautiful. Part road, part trail. somewhat hilly. the only downside was that the sign markings were not that clear. Since I started the race 15 minutes after everyone, including the walkers, I had no one to follow and There was one point a volunteer sent me in the wrong direction. I had to backtrack to correct my misdirection. Other than that, it was great! The medal was very cool and the shirt was nice too! I will be back next year!

Get here early cuz badge pick up and parking is very unorganized. They started the 5k when there were at least 50 people still waiting in line to their badge.

My review is strictly based on lack of communication with Spooktakular 10K administration. I was so excited to run this race, but after I registered, I received an email notification that the race date had moved. _____ On Jul 31, 2013, at 5:56PM, wrote: Dear Registrant, Due to a conflict with another event in Bonelli Park, officials have rescheduled our date for the LA Spooktacular event to Sunday, October 13. If for any reason you have a conflict with this date and cannot make it on October 13th we are happy to refund you your registration or arrange a virtual registration(at a discounted price) for you. Please have refund requests into us by Monday Aug. 12. We apologize for any inconvenience and we hope to see you there! Kindest regards, Rose and Deb & Wiz Marketing Inc. 619−491−0677 ____ I was not able to make it on the new date. I promptly responded for more information about refund process and have been ignored ever since. I even asked for my registration to be applied to this year’s race. No response. Today is April 11, 2014 and I have yet receive any refund, phone call or email from these people. It is a shame. I love to run Bonelli(even with the $ 10 parking fee) and the medals were stinking cute.

One of my favorite 10K race! It was held in Frank Bonelli Regional Park of San Dimas and it was very challenging. What a great view! We ran through the park and hilly trails. Despite my «not-quite recovered» sprained right ankle from a very recent Gladiator Run, I managed to finish the course with a great time. It was also my 5 year old daughter’s first race. She did the 400m dash. I would do such race again. :)

It was so fun and organized! The volunteers were friendly. I loved the volunteers who cheered people along the path! I especially LOVED the medal!!! I will definitely do it again next year!
