Twist is a great little hole in the wall burger joint. I live around the corner and have been eating there since the place opened. The food is good old American food with a twist. I haven’t had anything on the menu I didn’t like, and I’ve had pretty much everything. The Chipotle wings are really good and the salad is no bagged greens, There an assortment of what some might call exotic greens an the balsamic dressing is superb! In all honesty I would give them a 4.5 because the menu is small but hey if its not broke don’t fix it!

WoW! Amazing burger! Twist burger is out of control. On par with burgers as great as the double double animal style. This is gonna be hard to stay away from being 2 minutes from my house.

I’ve come here a few times, so I’m surprised that I hadn’t written a review yet. On my latest venture, I came for Moroccan Fries, which other Unilocalers slammed for sounding better than it was. Um, that’s because they didn’t swap in SWEETPOTATOFRIES. The Moroccan(Sweet Potato) Fries have Moroccan spiced steak, green onions, feta cheese and chipotle labne. Don’t let the fact that they are fries fool you: this is a meal if you don’t like to share. I don’t share my sweet potato fries, so all this deliciousness went down the hatch. Let it be known that I was fully carbed up for the beginning of my workout the next day. And the next day. Interestingly enough, I haven’t had the burgers here, so read through the other reviews to get insight to those!

Great food! TERRIBLEDELIVERYSYSTEM. Their ordering and delivery mechanism is not seamless at all. Took me twenty minutes to place my order then another hour for delivery. If the food wasn’t so good I’d give it one star. Best to pick up your order.

My husband and I have had Twist five times and it has NOT disappointed us ever. So so sooooo good! My favorite is the Thai sandwich while he loves the Chicken(actual chicken) the best. We have tried the fries(french and sweet potatoes) the burger and steak sandwich and they’re all amazing. We love you Twist!

I have been buying burgers here for the past two years. I love this place! Their attention to detail is bar none. I recommend the California with extra bacon and a double patty!

This was my first time trying Twist. The guys were very friendly and accommodating. I had the Twist burger and it was amazing — the goat cheese and caramelized onions were perfect. The seasoned fries and spicy ranch was heavenly. I was surprised that such a small place could produce such great flavor! Overall it was a great experience and I encourage people to try it!

A Seriously Great Burger The shop is kind of easy to miss, their sign kind of blends into the building where it’s located. One great thing is there’s plenty of residential parking around the corner. Keep in mind I got there with a friend at around 4pm on a Wednesday so there was no one there. The shop is really small. There was bar type seating against the wall, looked like it could only seat like 8 people, and that was it. The staff who was also the cook was super nice. I got the Twist Burger and it was great. 7oz patty, goat cheese, prosciutto, arugula, caramelized onions, balsamic syrup, twist sauce. I got mine cooked medium and it was cooked to perfection. I was a little worried about the arugula since it can be kind of a bitter leaf but with the ensemble of topping it was tasty. The twist sauce was also really good, almost a little sweet. The burger came with fries which were solid, a little crispier than I usually like but I’m prefer my fries a little softer than most. All in all definitely well worth the $ 7 some odd dollars it costs. There’s many good burgers in North Park but I’d definitely rank this one pretty high. Oh and just heads up no soda fountain, so no water cups, you have to drop a buck or so on a water bottle.

I was around here on Halloween day and was hungry and looking for something to eat. Doing a quick search on Unilocal of the area, this place popped up and sounded good. So we headed over here to grab a late lunch. Parking: street parking only Shop: almost a hole in the wall. The place is tiny with a few high chairs inside and 2 high top tables outside. Simple setting, you order at the register, they have drinks in cans. Almost like a walk up taco shop but for wings and burgers. We ordered: Twist Burger with a side salad and Sweet Chipotle Wings(breaded) with sweet potato fries My best friend thoroughly enjoyed her burger! Salad was mixed greens. I tried to order the Geisha wings, but they took them off the menu, so I ordered the Sweet Chipotle and they did not disappoint! Super tasty! Large portions of wings and just the right crispyness and sauce. I’d come back to this spot! Great service!

Twist is known for their burgers and sandwiches and a friend and I decided to check them out. The location is on the transitional side of university between north park and hillcrest. It’s a cozy little spot so if you aren’t paying attention, you may drive right past. The places is small only being able to sit 4 people at a bar top and it had a few tables and chairs outside. I noticed most of the business while I was there was take out and probably recommended for a group more than 2 people. Twist has a simple condensed menu which made the selection process easy. They had 4 burgers, 4 sandwiches, 2 entrée fries, and sides. My friend decided on their signature Twist burger and I got the spicy ranch chicken sandwich. I also ordered the Twist fries out of curiosity. The food arrived and the burger looked great with prosciutto, goat cheese, and standard toppings. The chicken sandwich had marinated chicken, spicy ranch, and mixed greens. I couldn’t help but notice the attention to detail with the grilled buns on both, very nice. Both tasted and looked great. The Twist fries were not quite up to par with the burger and sandwich. It was their take on the San Diego staple, carne asana fries. It had pulled pork, guacamole, goat cheese, a spicy mayo based sauce, and poco de gallo. The quantity was a lot and the taste, well the taste fell short. The concept was great but the pico had cucumber in it which overpowered the other flavors and left an unusual after taste. I personally am not a fan of cucumber in salsa do it was off putting to me. I would possible try again sans the salsa. Overall, if you stick to what they are known for, you will have a great experience. The menu is inventive and executed well. The place is small so get your food as take out. Avoid the pico if you aren’t a cucumber fan. All in all, I would say Twist was pretty good.

Solid wings and burgers shop. Geisha wings are no longer on their menu and it was the one I was looking forward to trying. My boyfriend had the SD burger which he says was good. The guacamole was a nice touch and everything came together really well. You can choose how well done you want the patty. The wings and burgers come with a side of fries. I opted for sweet potato fries for a $ 1 more with my twist wings, which you can get breaded or naked. The wings without sauce were bland so we asked for some Chipotle sauce which tastes like smokey molasses. The guy who took our order was extremely nice and accomodating. We sat outside and he checked on us on several occasions. We had some trouble finding street parking and it was on a Tuesday afternoon.

Their Moroccan fries were the most disappointing item ever… The description sounded so heavenly but the actual taste was not good. They used crinkle fries(memories of high school came flooding in) and the meat they use had a tanginess to it which I did not enjoy at all. The fries were also kind of spicy which I wasn’t prepared for. The actual shop was tiny with a few seats inside and two tables outside. I came here when it was about 75 degrees and the inside of that store had me sweating! Ok, enough of the bad, on to the good: the Boring Burger. It was good! Super crispy buns and the meat had a nice flavor. It was just a little on the pricey side. It does come with a side of fries or salad, but still I’m only down to pay more than $ 7 for a burger if it’s umami or big enough to fill me up. Not sure if I’d come back. Maybe if someone told me for a fact that Twist is using regular fries and not those nasty crinkle ones…

After hearing many people rave about the wings, I was excited to try them out. Unfortunately they’re proof that I can’t trust people’s opinions because these are not good wings. They’re breaded(a la KFC) and dry, no flavor in the breading(which, let’s be real shouldn’t be on a wing anyway) and the sauce is… something not buffalo. The basic burger was good, but not something to write home about. Just kind of an okay burger if you’re forced to eat there. Nothing tasted super flavorful or fresh. Huge Disappointment!

The pictures of the Moroccan fries looked amazing. I decided to give it a try and sadly I was disappointed. The pictures showed thin fries with bright greens as toppings. But I was deceived! Eternal sadness ensued. Unfortunately, the fries were the thick zig zag fries that looked like the frozen ones from Costco and the vegetables were a dull green… Like dying grass on a sad mountain of deep fried lies. The idea was good and the meat was flavorful, but overall it wasn’t what I expected. Not sure if they just ran out or just decided to change. May try again and ask for the skinny fries. On a positive note I tried my friends twist wings which were really good. I’ll probably be back again for just wings.

My boyfriend and I found this place through Unilocal. We’re looking for a burger place like Umami and stumbled across Twist. It’s a little hard to locate, I didn’t even see it when we passed by! It’s super small when you go in basically just a kitchen and register. We both had«The Boring» burger, house salad, and moroccan fries. For a little house salad it was good! And the Moroccan fries were absolutely delicious. AND our burger I have to say it was probably the best burger I’ve ever had the Gouda cheese is so exquisite and the meat was loaded with flavor. Not to mention the service was great, the young girl in the front was very nice to us and after we were finished the cook asked how everything was. Good service and great food in one is hard to come by these days. Five stars for them! We will be back!

I hate to say anything negative since I really like this place! But today my experience wasn’t as great as in the past. The Asian Swine sandwich is delicious – although maybe a bit heavy on the sauce – but I got the spicy ranch chicken sandwich today and was disappointed. First of all, there wasn’t enough chicken in it; the pieces were kind of small. I hate to say it; it was okay, but not great. My eating partner got the S.D. burger cooked medium and it was cooked correctly. But he thought it was salty and just not particularly great. But the biggest disappointment was that we got fries with our sandwiches and they were not good! They were like the fat crinkle-cut fries you get in elementary school. They barely had any salt or flavoring and added nothing to the meal – I swear past times I’ve eaten there the fries were way better. So, overall, I’d stick with the Asian Swine sandwich(yum!) and maybe consider the salad instead of fries!

Basic food with a twist! Can’t get more american than burgers, sandwiches, and wings! Their menu is quite small, just like the restaurant. It’s quick service which I wasn’t expecting. Each meal option has about 5 different choices and comes with fries or salad. The waiter/cashier/server was extremely nice and waited on us hand and feet. I’ve never experienced such loyal service. The couple next to us weren’t the nicest people, yet the server was super calm, humble, and asked for their feedback on their food. Unknowingly, they’re participating in SD’s $ 5 burger week so my bf ordered the Boring Burger which was offered for burger week. He said the party was really flavorful, too flavorful to be boring. The burger didn’t come with sides unless he wanted to get a combo, but declined. I ordered the Twist Wings with a side salad. The salad was served in a plastic to-go container with a side of balsamic dressing. Can’t say too much about that. The wings came out fresh and very hot. I was expecting a dry rub wing, but it was more like mini pieces of fried chicken. The breading was crunchy, but had too much breading. It was served with a creamy sauce and I couldn’t figure out what was in it. I got a sample of the chipotle sauce which was so good! Gonna get those wings next time, or the turkey burger, or the spicy chicken sandwich with sweet potato fries…

Their burgers are soooo good. The burger is super moist and it holds together. Great proportions too. I got The Boring and there ain’t nothing boring about it! The bun: toasty yet soft and proportional to the patty The greens: spring mix and tomatos The cheese: SMOKEDGOUDABRO The meat: never tried anything like it I opt out of the bacon aioli cause I am not a fan of mayonnaise. It came with fries or a salad all for $ 7.99. Super cheap because the burgers are not small! Also got an order of the Sweet Chipotle wings and they were fantastic. I’m not even a fan of bbq sauce but they’re doing it right here. Sweet, smokey, and spicy is right! The chicken wings are big and were fried to perfection. Great crunch yet still moist inside. 8 big ass pieces for $ 7.99. Ask for spicy ranch. Customer service was really awesome. I was going to give this place another try before writing a review but after speaking with the employee I knew I just had to write one right away. I came in pretty late on a Saturday night around 11PM and placed an order for to go. The guy at the counter was very friendly, he helped my boyfriend and I order by giving us suggestions. He told us the wings are made to order so there was going to be about a 15 minute wait. We were fine with that. He also informed us about swingby and we can always call ahead next time so we wouldn’t have to wait. Before giving us our food, he offered all the sauces they had to offer and gave us a generous amount. I can’t wait to go back and try the other items like the Geisha wings and their sandwiches.

This spot is so good! The best Is the twist burger but I’ve had the twist fries and the Asian swine sandwich. Burger comes with goat cheese and prosciutto and the sauce gives it a sweeter taste. Great service and hospitality.
