The Catamaran Spa

We came here while on a bachelorette trip. The weather was bad so our pool plans weren’t panning out. We decided to get a day pass from the spa and relax in the sauna, steam room, and jacuzzi. It was $ 45, which seems to be the going rate, but we were so excited to find out that if you spend $ 45 in the spa store (shampoos, candles, etc) the day pass is included — SCORE! The facility was nice with all of the typical amenities: complementary robes, flavored waters and teas, showers fully stocked with soaps, lotions, etc. The staff was very friendly. And the hotel the spa is located in is beautiful (Hawaiian themed, right on a private bay). Overall we were very happy (and very relaxed) girls. Note: The relaxation room and the spa is coed. And the parking is free with spa validation. Enjoy!

Fantastic day at the spa. My masseur was Mariah. She was fantastic! The best part about this place is how they go the extra mile for you.
Also, the steam is amazing! Will definitely be coming back to this place.

Had one of the best massages of my life today! My sister and mother (and the ladies in the relaxation lounge) agree. Shout out to «big» John for an excellent experience. Estheticians were rock stars as well.

What a way to spend a day off! I had an appointment for a massage at 10am on a Tuesday, I was told on the phone that I could use the other amenities that the spa had to offer so I got there around 8am. The staff greeted me as I walked in, gave me a tour, and showed me to my locker. I used the gym and ran on the treadmill while looking onto the bay. I then showered in this amazing vitamin C shower. To be honest, I don’t even know what makes it so wonderful, but it was wonderful. I also used the herb infused steam room which was just as perfect.
I haven’t even had my massage test and I’m having the greatest time. I went into the relaxation room to wait for my masseuse and I sat in this chair. Let me tell you about this chair. I can’t wait to buy one, the whole room was beautiful and tranquil and the perfect lounge chair that I was in sipping on my hot tea completed my relaxation room time. My massage was wonderful, Christina was my therapist and she listened to exactly what I wanted.
This was a treat and it was well worth it. I can’t wait to find a reason to return.

I was feeling burned out from work and decided to book an indulgent spa day in town. I chose the Catamaran Spa because of all the amenities. When you book a spa treatment, you have access to the spa (sauna, whirlpool) as well as fitness center and pool for the entire day, and that includes parking. They make you feel very welcome at the spa and invite you to stay around and enjoy your time there. I booked the Feb Valentine special, which included a facial and massage. Brianne and Angie were both wonderful, my treatments were very relaxing. The only downsides: There were not a lot of spa food options. The relaxation room had a fruit bowl (not much for snacks), so after a long day at the spa, we were hungry. There’s a restaurant next to the spa, but I didn’t see any juice, organic/​vegan or spa like menu options. Also, not as holistic and natural as I’d prefer with product selections.
Overall, I had a great time at the spa. The Valentine chocolates provided when I checked out were a nice treat. Looking forward to checking out their other monthly specials!

This place is an absolute ripoff. We stayed at Catamaran’s sister property, Bahia, and were give $ 20 off coupons by our front desk clerk. I had the ginger detox wrap, which is $ 185 for 80 minutes. There was no exfoliating or dry brushing — the therapist used this warm, wet teabag thing she pressed into my skin. Then, I was gooped up in body butter but she didn’t touch my hands or feet and even left my feet outside the body wrap. Surely, she would touch my feet and hands during the massage portion. As I was laying there, I couldn’t relax bc of the loud noises of showers turning on and off. I showered and the therapist massaged my entire body, which was pretty good, but she never touched my feet or hands. I also told her about the loud noises and she said she told the front desk and they should give me a discount. My husband and I get to the front desk and give the lady our coupons. Bc we had coupons — wait for it… they punish you for using them! They didn’t give me any discount for my complaint AND they add 18% gratuity bc we used the coupons. I asked why and she said so the therapists get their deserved gratuity bc most people will tip off the discounted price. So, if we wouldn’t have used the coupons, we would’ve actually saved money. And then, this is the best part — she apologizes for the noise and gives me a peace offering of these cheap chocolate bon bons that she also gave to the patron who checked out before me! I have never understood gratuity — why must we be forced to pay a percentage of the price of a service? My service cost $ 185 but was only worth maybe $ 50. We should tip based on what we, the patrons, feel is deserved. And the unmitigated gall this spa has to charge customers automatic gratuity of 18%. I’m calling to speak with the spa manager tomorrow bc I’m just getting angrier…

The spa was lovely. The facility had a lot of amenities… my favorite part was the vitamin C infused shower and the vanity area. They provide a lot of beauty products for you to use and it’s just so peaceful. The massage itself was just ok… I didn’t feel like it was anything too special. I felt slightly relaxed afterwards but nothing too drastic. The massage was definitely not worth $ 125 but it was a good experience overall with the rest of the spa. I’d come back to use the spa but I would pass on the massage and get one elsewhere for cheaper.

Had a lovely day at this spa with my sister in law and her mother in law. We felt like queens. I was first impressed by its spacious locker room and impeccable shower area. The staff was consistent in making sure everything was clean, stocked and perfect. I had everything at my fingertips. The waiting room was UNBELIEVABLE. I want a room like this in my house. It was such a nice part of the experience. My massage was fabulous, and the facial was excellent as well. The names of my therapists are escaping me at the moment, but I want to go back right now. I don’t think I’ve ever drooled during a massage. So yeah. it was pretty amazing.

This spa delivers relaxation. Always clean and professional. It is a little expensive, but worth it.

If you are looking for a relaxing spa experience this is not the place to go. If you are looking for a place for you and your girlfriends to go and be obnoxious while getting a massage or hanging in the relaxation room then this place is for you. This place is more like a high school locker room than a spa!

I had an excellent prenatal massage here. Generally, it’s a bit expensive for a massage but it was great and the amenities are really nice. Being pregnant, I couldn’t enjoy the whirlpool tub, steam room or sauna, but I did use the vitamin C shower and spent much of the afternoon enjoying the pool. My only complaint is my lunch at Morays, one of the on-​site restaurants. The food was OK, not good or horrible, but the service was just awful. In retrospect I wished I’d left the hotel for lunch altogether to avoid that mood killer. But as far as the spa goes, it’s highly recommended!

This is the second time my boyfriend and I have booked appointments at this spa while vacationing in San Diego. I can tell you that this is one of the most beautiful spas that I have been to. It’s extremely private and has ensuring up locker rooms with attendants that are dedicated to keeping it clean. Each locker room has a steam room and sauna. If you’re looking to have some shared time for couples, you can both spend time in the spa exclusive whirlpool or relaxation room. My favorite part of the locker rooms is the infused vitamin C shower head in one of their 3 showers.
On this occasion, my boyfriend and I booked a couples «Fun in the Sun» package that included a 50 minute massage, 1 hour free rental of a paddle board or beach cruiser, and 10% off lunch for $ 115 each (amazing deal!). We checked in early and were able to enjoy the beach, the hotel pool, and all their spa facilities. The only reason why I am giving them ⁴⁄₅ stars is due to the massage that was totally less than par. It felt more of like a rub down than anything else. This was so disappointing considering that we had amazing CMT’s last time we visited.
My suggestion would be to ask for an experienced therapist, but other than that, this spa is a MUST visit!

TODD!!! Best massage ever! I feel WONDERFUL. And I came in with a LOT of back pain from carrying twin babies around for the past seven months.

I was five minutes late for my appointment, and they gave my therapist to someone else, so I had to reschedule for a couple hours later. Not the end of the world. I enjoyed the steam room and had some lunch next door-​which I would not recommend. The restaurant there is very expensive, as in $ 20 for a sandwich– and the food is not that good. I also ordered a Mai Tai and I have definitely paid less and got better drinks elsewhere. After lunch, I went back to the spa and sat in the relaxation room to wait for my therapist. There was some weird gross odor-​like someone had really smelly feet. I couldn’t wait to get out of there. The massage was pretty good though-​but expect to pay a lot for it. Make sure to bring your parking ticket with you because you need to have the spa validate it.

This spa is just a bit pricey, but worth it. I like being able to choose my aromatherapy oils. The music and scents in the relaxation rooms was just exactly what I needed after a difficult week at work. After an hour of swedish massage, I definitely could feel a release of tension. I am thinking of getting gift certificates and giving them out as Christmas presents for a few special people.

Pros: Great facility with amenities– showers, steam and sauna rooms. Their body scrub under vichy shower treatment is lovely, however not recommended if you want peace and quiet. For a massage treatment, I recommend Angie– she’s very friendly, extremely attentive and professional!
Cons: Other patrons who don’t know how to be quiet in the relaxation lounge.
Tips: Check their website for monthly specials. Bring your own sandals.

Rarely would I consider any spa five stars but this place is truly relaxing. If you are looking for a day to just pamper yourself and unwind this is the spa for you. I took my cousin who was out of town here and she was very impressed. We took advantage of the current August special for one service, 10% off a meal, and one hour free of bike ridding or paddle boarding. The pricing for this package is very minimal considering what type of establishment this is. I opted for a facial and the esthetician listened to my issues and made some suggestions. I took her advice thus began one of the most relaxing and comfortable facial experience I’ve had in awhile.
If anyone is looking for a beautiful and relaxing spa experience, the Catamaran Spa truly fits the bill. I will booking another spa day here soon!

Beautiful spa, horrible employees. Nearly ruined a bachelorette by calling the bride to be personally. Luckily, their incompetence saved the surprise — they called the wrong person by the same name and their voicemail was full. Imagine that, there is more than one person with the same name… no explanation for this since all reservations were made under my name and credit card.
We get there 3 – 4 hours early and enjoy the beach. 5 minutes before the massages begin, they tell the bride to be her massage is cancelled. Of course this happens while they are whisking everyone away to massage tables so I don’t even know about it until after. The worst part was the attitude — they somehow did not see any problem with canceling on the bride. The attitude, especially since we brought so many people, was appalling, saying they wouldn’t want a therapist to puke on me, as if that’s what we were asking for. No thank you, I think you should abide by your own policy. I’m sure if I was puking, they would have told me my credit card would be charged since I read and agreed to their cancellation policy.
It all felt very sneaky. Instead of waiting, bringing us out to the lobby so we could talk, they had us whispering in the relaxation lounge — guessing they didn’t want to loose out on the 8 services we booked. To end it all, my massage was not great. I had much better luck with the pool and bar staff and would not recommend the massages.
