APPARENTLY THIS BUSINESS IS CLOSED.
I’m confused because Unilocal says they’re open and there was a review done just 3 days ago?
I called this business a week ago and left a message regarding a groupon I received as a gift from a friend a while back. I realize this groupon is old which is why I wanted to speak with someone to discuss my options. I left a voicemail and never received a call back so I decided to try again today.
A woman picked up, I didn’t catch her name. She seemed irritated and upset. She rudely explained to me that they have not had a groupon available for a long time now (she seemed annoyed at me for even asking about it). She also said that this spa was located in PB but the owner of the building sold it and all the tenants (including simply scentual spa) were evicted. She said there was no way to provide any services to me because the business no longer exists. Then I’m pretty sure she hung up on me.
I then called back and left a voicemail saying «I don’t know if you hung up on me but there is no need to be so rude. The groupon says if the merchant is unable to provide services that the purchaser is entitled a refund. I just want to know at this point how my friend can get her money back since the groupon was never used and you received the money already.»
10 minutes later she sent me a text message saying «Sorry, I walked into an elevator & my call dropped. I don’t have any services for $ 35. The additional funds would be needed to honor the groupon.»
So now you can honor my groupon? After you said you were evicted and this business no longer exists? Maybe because you later realized you’d have to refund the $ 35? No thanks. That was Super shady.
I will be contacting groupon to get a refund for my friend.

Having recently moved from Chicago, my skin went through some changes while adjusting to San Diego weather. I needed to find a new skin specialist. I went through couple estheticians before I found Cory. She’s very sweet, funny, caring and definitely someone that you can trust with your skin!
I would describe my microdermabrasion with her as gentle, yet effective. Compared to others, the services she offers are very affordable… and she doesn’t try to sell you products that aren’t for you (pet peeve) Instead, she customizes her recommendations and earns your trust and business. Thank you Cory!

The last few facialists I went to were women with all 5-​star ratings in adorable little cottage-​style businesses. And they were TERRIBLE for my skin.
Cory, on the other hand, runs a rather no-​frills place. But she is the first and only person in San Diego to give me a facial that showed she actually knows what she’s doing and is customizing it to my skin. She was really gentle, and I can actually see vast improvement in my skin! (Not the «I guess???» and «Wait, did she just cause hyperpigmentation with her roughness?» results I’d been getting from everyone else.)
So, yeah. She’s very reasonably priced and actually gets RESULTS. 5 stars in my book.

Always excellent service, professional, clean and willingness to adapt to clients need. In addition will match Groupon prices. One of my favorites.

Cory is fantastic and super informative. I went in for microdermabrasian and am very pleased with the results. Cory took the time to evaluate my sensitive skin and go over all of my issues with my skin. The environment is so comfortable and laid back. I will be back for sure.

I feel the need to defend this spa. To address some of the comments, it’s true: if you’re looking for the froofy experience to share with friends complete with robes, lemon water and bubbling fountain, then it’s not for you. But if you are looking for a great facial treatment, then look no further.
I have lived in 4 cities including Vail and NYC, and tried dozens of spas in each location. I would rate Simply Scentual as the 2^nd best facial I’ve gotten. Cory is the aesthetician I have seen 3 times. She is earthy, knowledgeable, and dedicated. Their products are by Ayur-​Medic and also contribute to the quality. I get compliments on how my skin glows and the results last weeks. Besides knowing her stuff, she stays with you the entire time and gives relaxing neck and hand massages.
The tax thing IS annoying and unexpected when you purchase a Groupon, but as long as you’re prepared for the extra $ 13, it’s okay. But I agree they should amend that policy. Scheduling has never been a problem. Cory returns calls within a day and is reachable via text messaging as well. I asked about the scheduling snafus some others mentioned and she did say they involved a new person who is no longer there.
I’d give it 5 stars except they could really boost the look of the place.

I bought the Groupon for the 90 minute facial which included a foot massage and paraffin hand treatment. My sister in law bought a regular 60 minute massage so we made our appointments and off we went. This was also my birthday, so I was looking forward to some pampering! We arrive at the spa and we were greeted promptly. We were given the option to buy more lotions and whatever else they were selling to ‘enhance’ the experience. I went in the room for my facial and it was so cluttered full of stuff in every corner of the room. I was told to sit in a chair in the corner and out comes the lady with one of those foot spas you buy for your house and that was for my foot massage haha. Tacky. Then came an attempt at a paraffin wax for hands, another miss. I was then led over to the table for the facial. Usually at any other spa, you undress for a facial, right?! Nope. I had on a sweatshirt and was roasting under the blanket. The facial was not good. There were moments when she put product on my face and then just sat there talking. Massage my face, do something!!! It was a total disappointment. Then on top of it all, I was charged tax on the Groupon! She never mentioned that. Oh yeah, my sister in law’s massage was a nightmare too. She said it started out okay, but half way through he was using no pressure and paused for a few moments, because he had nodded off!!!
Bottom line, pay full price for a great experience rather a deal.

–5 STARS!!! This company rips you off for the tax that you should NEVER have to pay as it should be included in the price of the Groupon. I’ve filed a complaint with Groupon about this merchant.

I came here after getting the groupon for a facial and hand wax a few months ago and I’ve kept coming back for the microdermabrasion. If you’re looking for a super fancy spa with robes and mood lighting, this isn’t the place for you. It is in a little, old office type building in PB. Not the bougiest of digs (but clean contrary to other reviews I’ve seen.) But if you’re looking for an aesthetician who knows what she’s doing and cares a lot about results, go to Cory. This is the best my skin has looked in a long time.

The young lady that did everything do a good job for what she had to work with its not her fault the owner needs to get it together with her business if she plans to stay open. So I usually don’t write reviews this soon, but I just got back from this place and I feel incredible. My friend surprised me with a spa package here (facial, eyebrows, foot & hand treatment) I have to say, Cory is an angel. Aside from her being super cool and personable, she was so nice and gentle with me, especially with the extractions. My skin feels amazing! I feel like it just drank a gallon of water :) I highly recommend this place. I will definitely be back to try the microdermabrasion treatment.

So I showed up today and she said I didn’t have an appointment nor my friend with me. She even was like oh you must be megan? And I said yes. Before I could say anything nice or mean. She says“I called you like three times and left messages”. So that all are aware I have phone records to prove I received one call and that call left one empty voicemail and I returned that call! I left a message with both my work and home number after the empty voicemail. Note that she was awful fast to be defensive when I’d said nothing. So I kindly said okay could we possibly reschedule? She seriously had an attitude and said yeah hold on a minute I’m so sick today maybe it’s food poisoning or the flu… while she handled laundry… (Hello that means she used that on you later but doesn’t care that she totally was sick and put her germs all over!!) and she goes and vomits in the bathroom!!! My friend and I go upstairs to wait in the waiting room as the gentleman there with her directed us. He left. So we wait patiently in a room with sex toys. Yes I mean sex toys, and thongs and stuff like that. So my pregnant friend with me is terrified she’s going to get sick. So the woman comes back into the room huffing and puffing and says «this is not how I wanted to spend my day». So unprofessional I’m seriously shocked. So she finally says «what day works for you ladies». My friends face looked horrified. So I said «could we possibly just get reimbursed for our groupon? We just wanted to do it today» I didn’t want to be rude and point out how grotesque the place was so I just said we wanted that day. Her response was immediately accusatory. She said we’ve down nothing wrong and I left you messages. (So that everyone knows I had one message on my cell that said nothing. And I gave her my work number. ZERO messages there. So she called a wrong number or is lying) but anyhow she continues on a rant about groupons and how they aren’t confirmed etc. so I said «you did not leave me three messages but I don’t care. I’m not arguing with you all day, have a wonderful day goodbye.» She said «okay have a good day» — probably the nicest thing she said since our arrival and it was of course with malice. I will not be back here and would not recommend to anyone.
Note; surrounding area is trashy. Bums live in the parking lot. Go here at your own risk. I have absolutely no clue how they have as many stars as they do on Unilocal

Hi… My name is Angelo, I do make-​up/​hair for celebrities and my appearance is very important.
I have always desired to have thicker lashes. But hated the look of mascara and the fake thick raccoon look the morning after (not cute on a guy).I found Cory thru a friend that had her lashes done by Cory. (Fabulous!)
So I decided to try Cory myself… Well lets just say it’s been 6 months and I LOVE them! My lashes are thick, full and most important they don’t look fake!!!
Cory is very friendly and her spa is cute, cozy, comfortable and clean!
I recommend everyone to Cory! I have a least 2 people that compliment my lashes.
If you want natural, thick lashes go to Cory she’s the best in the west!

While this might not be a large, fancy spa like you might be used to if you love all things spa related, the prices are much more reasonable and the service was really great.
Having very temperamental skin, but also trying not to spend a ton of money fixing it, when I saw the Groupon offered here, I was quick to jump. Cory addressed all my skin issues in the first appointment. I was worried I would be red and blotchy when leaving due to the extractions done at the beginning of the hour, but much to my surprise when I looked in the mirror in the car it looked like calm, smoothed skin! There was no pressure to buy product, she went through what I was using at home and gave suggestions on how to use what I had for better results.
I will definitely be back and look forward to trying the microdermabrasion!

This was my second time getting a facial with Cory and plan on coming back for more. She is AMAZING! Very knowledgable, super caring and attentive, definitely recommend her!
I’ve had tons of facials in super pricey spas but it seems like they are mostly worried about their image and not their customers.
And facials given at these spas usually take the «one size fits all» approach. But with Cory, she caters to your skin type, her goal is to give you the perfect skin you desire! Plus the whole experience is SO relaxing! Excited to go back!
She also notified me of her expansion and remodeling of her existing space… Excited to see how everything turns out and Congrats!

I’ve been debating for a couple weeks wether or not to leave a negative review here for Cory. She was really nice and it looked like she cared about her business. But the facial I received from her was terrible.
I purchased a groupon and was excited to receive a facial, eyebrow wax & foot massage all in one. My skin really needed the attention. It started with a foot scrub and massage. Cory wore gloves on her hands during the foot massage, not uncommon. When we moved to the facial part, Cory wore gloves as well. This threw me. For two reasons: one, I thought it felt uncomfortable receiving a facial through gloves; two! She wore the same gloves on her hands that she wore while massaging and scrubbing my feet. I wish I would have stopped her and asked her to change gloves. It was completely unsanitary and unprofessional. Next, during the extraction part of my facial, Cory used the needle to poke at my blemishes and she stopped there. She did not extract. Just left holes from the needle in my blemishes. After less than five minutes of poking holes she said she was done ‘torturing me.’ I was so disappointed. My skin has looked horrible ever since. The blemishes that were there before left for me to extract on my own, as if I never went in for a facial in the first place.
Furthermore, the stairs leading up to Cory’s studio were covered in hair, tracts and dirt. I would not recommend Simply Scentual.

The best massage ever! My friend recommended me Cory. He knows how much I love massage. I tried different places but it was always something wrong (some places too expensive, some paces too dirty and so on. Finally I found what i was looking for. Thank you Cory.

I had never gotten eyelash extensions but was always wanting them. I went to see Cory and fell in love!!! She is really good with the natural look and I love them!!! People always ask about my lashes and I am proud to send them to Cory! She does amazing work!

This is an excellent place for taking care of your spa needs. There is no waiting because its all done by appointment. The esthetician is very knowledgeable and competent. They have a ton of interesting and fun products. I was very impressed by how clean it was too. I recommend this to anyone.
