Steins Pub

This is the first time I’ve ever seen a pub with not one television. There’s nothing to do there except have a beer. The food is mediocre. Staff service is ok. I would not recommend it and I won’t go back.

A really unexpected gem of a pub located in a shopping center. Ive been here several times now, always for lunch, and have yet to be disappointed in the food. They have a few lunch specials during the week for $ 9 including a drink. I usually go for the pub salad. I have tried the chicken tenders and burger before and they were good. Ive had the wings too, but wouldn’t recommend them. (Not horrible, i just think you can get better wings at other places) They seem to have a pretty good beer selection too. My only complaint is i wished they had a tv. It seems like a great place to watch a game on the weekend, but i understand if that’s not the vibe they are going for.

Steins is closing for good as of tonight ¹²⁄₂₆ at 10pm. So sad to see this great place close!

Fair selection of beer. We live in San Diego so it is probably impressive elsewhere but not in San Diego. The staff, as another person said, seem too try too hard to attempt to be friendly. It comes across as forced/​false rather than natural. It has been uncomfortable.
The food is OK but I have stuck to the basics. Yes, they have forgotten/​omitted items on the dishes from time to time, but nothing to the point of ruining the meal.
All-​in-​all an OK place just not what they want it to and possibly could be. If you are in the area and do not feel like driving it works, but I would not drive out of my way to get here.

Stumbled upon Steins Craft Beer Pub and eatery in Tierrasanta and it’s a really cool place. Awesome selection of beer (I think 28 craft beers, many local) and the food is very tasty. Was told it’s all homemade food. Had the Tomato soup and and Chicken Strips to start and shared the turkey pesto panini with my wife. We loved it all. The atmosphere is very cool and the servers were excellent and so nice. The Bar tender was extremely knowledgeable about the large selection of Beer and Meads.
Would defiantly come again. Glad I found this place.

The drink menu is phenomenal the different meads are killer and the atmosphere is really laid back and inviting.

The Punkuccino, a pumpkin-​coffee beer???, is a must! High Yield.
Also, the Pub salad is delicious. All arugala and friend onions and cheese and chicken and cheese. light and refreshing!

Pretty cool place close to my workplace. They have a pretty solid craft beer selection, but I would like to see more of a local variety — there are no excuses in the beer capital of the world! Also, beer prices are a bit on the high side, but not totally unreasonable.
However, the rest of the experience makes up for those minor issues. The food here is really good. I had a Turkey Cobb sandwich that was damn near perfect — crisp bacon, perfectly toasted bread, lots of turkey, lots of blue cheese, and fresh veg. It’s a pretty small joint, but the service is solid. Looking forward to another trip here!

Bartender was very slow at times, and first served a number of walk-​ups while I’d been sitting at the bar with an empty glass.
Food was decent, but by that time I was annoyed by the service and decided to move on.

I think the vibe in this place is super chill and inviting. They have a good beer selection, and decent menu for a pub. I had the deviled eggs, the cheese platter, and the chicken tenders. The deviled eggs had a good flavor, but we’re somewhat small, and the boiled egg portion was firm in texture as well. The cheese platter was simply overpriced, and ordinary. It didn’t have any assortment of cheeses that wowed the senses.
The best part was the peppered honey. The chicken tenders (although they had a pleasant, crispy texture) were easily the most under-​seasoned tenders I have ever had. Literally speaking, Tyson chicken tenders have a better flavor. You guys need to not only season the actual chicken, but also the breading. The house dressing that came with the tenders had a dill flavor which was decent. Overall; I give the establishment 4 stars for location and beer selection, and 2 stars for food quality and value.

I’ve been going here regularly for a year & never had a single complaint. Food is extraordinary & lunch specials are a super great value but you get the same amount of food! Service is generally always awesome. Owners are really accommodating.
They often have a vast assortment of craft beers on tap, usually with local breweries (the best kind). As long as things stay the same, I’ll continue to call this my local watering hole. Love this place.
Check out their Oktoberfest specials, check out their weekly food specials too. Veggie burger is delicious, stout braised beef poutine is amazing; I could go on for days praising this place.

Great little craft brew dive. Bartender was super cool turned us on to a few beers we will definitely try again. We will be back for sure!

You know that moment when joy and contentment meet? And nothing could be more perfect? This is where I achieved it recently. Beer selection is great and the grilled cheese sandwich is amaze balls.

Great local pace the food was good had the deviled eggs, liked that there were 6 halves and 3 kinds. Chicken strips good with homemade sauce. Also we split the small fries and the strawberry avocado salad (that is huge!). One flight of meads and some wine. Really liked the wine choices France to California options. Nice interior and very friendly
Staff. Only issue… Every time we ordered drunks it took forever to get them. Only one person can pour? Food from scratch before drinks?

This place gets my «most improved» vote.
When we first went to Stein’s, it was horribly loud (nothing, anywhere, to soak up the noise), and the food was very mediocre.
The good news is, that they have done revisions to make it quieter, and some of the food is much improved.
Add this to the fact that they have hard cider (which I love) and many craft beers (which my husband loves), a beer-​making class, and always very-​friendly service, and Larry and his wife now have a winner!
I now look forward to going to my neighborhood pub!

Delicious food with some vegan & gluten free items. I’ve had their Herbed Chicken Sandwich & the Spicy Arugula & Sweet Potato Salad. Their salad was huge! Both items were tasty & made with quality ingredients.
They have an excellent, long list of beer, wine, & mead. This is the first place that I’ve been to that serves mead. I tried one & it was super sweet. I’ll try more in the future, but it’s cool they serve it here.
Nice place to come to drink & grab a bite. It doesn’t get crowded so there’s seating available & they’re open pretty late!

All I have to say is, it may not looking appealing from the outside, but their staff and selections make up for it.
They had a big chalkboard with the list of drinks they had on tap. Very impressive. There food was great as well. I had there Firejack Burger. Bomb.
Our waiter was named Ben. The coolest and most attentive waiter I’ve had. Very helpful by giving us taster of the drinks and recommending some as well. Ben, you my boy. I will be coming back just because of his great service!

Absolutely the most amazing pub in San Diego! From the rotating list of craft beer, delicious food and fabulous staff (shout out to Allie, Angela, Cody, Anthony and Shane) THIS IS my go to place!!!

So surprised… right in the neighborhood… I love Steins Pub!!!
It’s Wednesday night and the place is packed and everyone is so happy to see us, even though this is the first time I’ve been here — love the attention! Customers from across the restaurant find us a table. Are our local firemen off-​duty, enjoying a mid-​week meal? Great atmosphere.
Steins Pub has a lot, a lot, a lot of craft beer on tap. Steins serves wine… and meads!!! What surprises me, though, is that the food is so fresh and tasty. I expected heavy, breaded… I don’t know… but Steins Pub’s menu is more complex. There are many vegan options — I ordered the spicy arugula and sweet potato salad — large portion, very fresh, perfectly dressed with a garlic-​lime vinaigrette. For meat eaters the burgers are excellent. The Firecracker Burger with Sriracha aioli on a Sadie Rose Bun — excellent bakery choice. Delicious!
Around 8pm, we are given raffle tickets and there’s a raffle — so entertaining and enjoyable.
Plenty of parking available — it’s so easy though to walk across the street if you live nearby. Steins Pub is a totally fun, local hang out. Homerun!

This place is a surprisingly good neighborhood joint in a strip mall in Tierrasanta. It’s a little brightly lit, but still pretty relaxed; lots of communal high top tables with jars or steins (see what they did there?) of silverware, napkins, and straws.
I’ve been twice now; the first time I had spiced meatballs (I like that they went Mediterranean with them!) and mac ‘n’ cheese; both were good! The second time I had a grilled cheese sandwich with tomato soup; the grilled cheese was amazing. Super melty and gooey cheese just overflowing the bread; about as perfect as a basic grilled cheese can get!
They also have a nice selection of beers, the portions for which are usually bigger than a pint but the prices of the beers reflects that.
Reasonably priced, tasty food, cold brews; this is a great spot for a casual bite if you live in the area!
