Established in 2014.

The Specs Little Italy location is their second location. Having established their first location in the South Park neighborhood, Specs was looking to expand their brand to Little Italy. Specs is located within the James Coffee Co. building in the North End of Little Italy. The space is a collaboration of other retail boutiques focused on independent brands and high quality products.

This location is on the forefront of retail spaces in urban settings. Stop by for a cup of coffee and try on some fabulous frames or browse through the other boutiques within the space.

Located in the James Coffee Co. building, Specs Optometry is the perfect place to get your eyes checked and pick up some new stylish glasses. For those with perfect vision, you can get some sunglasses here too. Specs carries some local brands like SALT, and made in America brands like Brooklyn. Also, Specs takes insurance, making some of the frames more affordable. The optician will definitely help you pick out great glasses that fit your face. The store is small and cute and usually visited by the owner of James Coffee Co’s pitbull. Bandit likes to lay on the rug under the display case and rest in the turquoise chair. The whole experience here was a lot of fun. Dr. Shore was friendly and encouraging, even when I felt kind of stupid trying to read fuzzy letters. He took the time to get to know me and made suggestions for lenses that would limit blue light emitted from computers since I tend to stare at screens all day as an academic. I was told I would get my glasses in two weeks, but it actually was faster than promised and a week after my appointment I was able to pick up my new specs!

Dr. Shore was fantastic, the exam was very quick and relaxed and he spent time to explain everything to me. And then he spent even more time helping me pick out the perfect frames (whoa they had a lot of cool ones). And he’s a fly & dapper dresser himself so I felt really comfortable with his recommendations. Will be back!

I just made an account to leave a review for them because their customer service is so great!!!
I made my appointment for my eye exam and I was going to be running late so I called to make sure it was ok because I was coming from North County. They were totally cool and took me 30 minutes late! Monica helped me pick out some rad prescription sunglasses. Then when when they came in a week later their website said they closed at 7 so i was heading down in traffic and was going to be there about 6:45. I called to double check those were the correct hours and Monica answered. She remembered me from the week before and said they closed at 6:30 but she would wait for me to get there! It was so sweet! The lenses were lighter than what I had hoped for once I tried them on, so I called back the next day and explained that I didn’t like the lenses and Monica called the lab first thing the next day to order me a darker pair, no questions asked! I just went back down yesterday to pick them up and the girl in their switched out the lenses for me and I was on my way!
But first I got a delicious iced tea from James Coffee since the building is amazing and fun to hang out it anyway!
An all around great spot! I would definitely recommend Specs to everyone!

I arrived just as the store was being opened a few days ago. It’s a cool location within a large, open building that also has a great coffee bar. They don’t have a huge selection of frames, but what they do have is high quality — and the service was definitely great. I wanted a new pair of sunglasses and was helped by the manager (Nate). He asked some good questions about my preferences and quickly produced some really solid options for me to try on. One of the pairs ended up being exactly what I was looking for. I was out of there in less than 10 minutes with my new shades. I really couldn’t ask for a better experience — friendly, knowledgeable staff and stylish/​cool frames. Check this place out.

Very friendly and professional! Handled my insurance properly. I was able to test out a few contact lenses before committing to a brand because I have astigmatism and sensitive eyes. After I placed my order, the contact lenses were ready for pick up within the week.

In a cool little warehouse with a coffee shop and other stores.
I went in yesterday just thinking I would walk around and try on some frames and ended up explaining to them that my Versace glasses had a missing screw and I was unable to find one that fit. Michelle was awesome, she took the time to fix them free of charge and when I asked if she was sure all she said was to come in when I’m ready for new glasses. I will definitely be back! Great customer service, super helpful and they have a good variety of frames.

If you schedule an appointment make sure you confirm the location! I scheduled an appointment for 9am and it was apparently at their other location, which is weird because I called the little italy location. They did call a day before to confirm the appointment but never mentioned which location. Anyways, I’ll blame it on myself for not confirming (mantra: trust no one).
Note to owners: update your hours!!! The hours outside the Little Italy shop say 10am but on Unilocal and Google reviews its 9am. Is that maybe because you typically open at 10am but will take an appointment at 9am?
All I know is my morning was thrown off schedule so I’m passing on this place, which is a shame because it does look like they have some nice glasses.

They are located in a warehouse type building with multiple businesses in it.
The selection is great, and they do eye exams on the spot.
They also take insurance which is great.
The staff is super nice and really helpful, if you have a question about glasses they have an answer.

I’ll be a paying customer soon. Too bad I just bought a pair of Barton Perreira’s last week. I *almost* had buyers remorse after stepping in here.
The shop is in with a few mini shops (Ajax and James Coffee) and carries all those handmade frames that make you drool. Salt, DITA, Barton Perreira, and a few new German and French brands I’m less aware of.
They have sunglasses and regular glasses, do exams and take insurance. Staff are also honest and helpful with finding and matcha your style as well as facial shape, a crucial assist when solo shopping!
