Specialties
Southwestern Sign is a full service sign company. Established in 1984.
The scope of our work varies wildly. Signage, both interior and exterior is always unique to the client’s needs and look.
We design and make signs for local corporations such as: Amylin, Alere, Biosite, General Atomics, Northrop Grumman, UCSD, Camp Pendleton, and many medical and office buildings.
We service hundreds of buildings with regard to: Directional Signage, Wayfinding, Tenant signs, and related Interior ADA required signs.
Another large slice of our business is Property Management Companies.
We have extensive experience in doing all phases of signage for apartment complexes and condominium communities. Typically, we update tired property signage to create a new look. We may do a logo make-over then transform entryways and perepheral signage to reflect the updated theme.
We are licensed, insured and posess three contractors licenses.
This allows us to do sign projects where we are a «one stop shop»
History
Established in 1984.
When I was a teenager, a new neighbor moved next door to our home in the San Carlos area of San Diego.
He was an immigrant to this country. He had started a small sign company.
His talents were mainly hand painting and lettering. No fabrication and installation.
I had always been exposed to tools in our small shop that my father had set up in our garage, and also having a brother as my sidekick, we were the local handy men around the neighborhood. Building garden walls, trellis and house painting etc. We were asked by the new neighbor to fabricate and install most of his projects. We had the tools and know-how. We did this for him and other local sign companies for three years before I started my own company.
I Love making signs.
I really enjoy the multitude of materials and the creativity that this profession offers. Some days we work with aluminum and steel, some days we are carving wood, its always a challenge and
interesting.
Meet the Business Owner
Michael A.
Business Owner
I can say that I am truly lucky to have discovered the sign business.
I often feel like a race horse getting ready to bolt from the starting blocks each morning.
I love the challenge and creativity of designing and fabricating signs that make people and companies happy.
I have been married since 1987, and am the father of two.
Both are attending college. My daughter is at Yale studying environmental science, and my son will start his first semester at The University of Denver, interested in studying psychology.
I don’t actually advertise, as I have developed relationships with many local companies over these many years. I consider my clients my friends and treat their projects with attention to detail and care as if I were making my own sign. That has turned out to be the best way to keep busy.
I love to travel, and am fortunate enough to be able to make time to visit this incredible world we live in.
