The Gel came off next day, just peeled off. I would not visit again. They did a alright job otherwise. Not too friendly either.

Gel nails with Yvonne!!!
I was referred to Yvonne by a friend after I saw how great her nails looked. She has an active job (like me) and has to keep her nails short, so I knew that this was going to be great. My friend is also very picky about things and I knew that this would be a great product at a great price!
My first appointment was 8−23−14 and I got a mood changing polish with some hearts as the nail design:
I’ve been keeping up with my appointments every 2 weeks since then. Yvonne is great with keeping my nails short and offers to do any kind of nail art that I want. She’s also so friendly and we end up chatting about all kinds of stuff during the appointment, so the time goes fast. I’m totally addicted to these gel nails and hope this is the beginning of a long relationship with Yvonne and my nails looking gorgeous!
You definitely need to make an appointment for gel nails with Yvonne since her schedule books up pretty fast. :-)

I come here when I know my normal spot is going to be busy (aka after work). The women who work here are always very friendly and make conversation. I would give them five stars but they take a while to get things done. It took over an hour for a mani pedi today but I didn’t mind because it turned out great! I think this is gunna become my permanent spot :)

By far the best nails I’ve ever gotten in San Diego!!! I love to get oval or pointy shaped nails and they just work magic here. Every time I would go to other places they would last max of 10 days, when I get them here by Ivonn or Tiffany (haven’t had the other girls do them) they would last 3 weeks easy! Seriously I love this place, this review is long overdue, I’ve been coming here for years. They have a very clean salon with exceptional service.

I bought a groupon for this salon, never been before that, and I gotta say I will be coming back! Julie does such a great job! Takes a Lil longer than I’m used to but she seriously pays attention to detail.

I can honestly tell you that I did not have any of the bad experiences that the other reviewers had.
I’m not from San Diego and on a whim I went with a friend to get a pedi. We initially were going to a different spot when I spotted this salon and it looked nice so we made a u-​turn to come here.
Other than another girl, we were the only ones there. We got seated right away, not bugged with any upgrades and the nail techs were very friendly and talkative to us, more so than any other salon I’ve ever been to actually.
The pedi’s were nice– got my little massage, and came out with a fancy pair of clean feet. Both of us were really happy. The prices were surprisingly less than I expected. Overall it was a very good experience.

I came here because I had a coupon… 25 bucks for a mani/​pedi… seemed like a pretty good deal (despite reading some horrific Unilocal reviews before hand) and it wasn’t too far from my house so I decided to treat myself for the first time since my daughter was born.
I walked in and was greeted by Chi? (Chee)? I showed her the coupon and asked if they accepted cards, she told me that they do but they prefer cash??? Okay so I go to the atm at the 7 – 11 next door and it’s like 5 bucks so I’m like oh well you’re gonna have to take my card.
Basically I’ll make a long story short… Chi, or Chee or however you spell her name was awesome! She really wanted to give me the best value for my money. Before her ‘boss’ came in she said that she would try to give me a deal on a gel manicure instead of a regular one, but when her ‘boss’ came in she wanted to upcharge me out the wazoo. She also seemed annoyed that I was using a coupon… basically my mani/​pedi that would have been 25 bucks came out to about 50 just because I got gel on my fingers and a flower design on my big toe… I was thinking of getting gel on my toes but the ‘boss’ wanted to charge me an extra fifteen bucks on top of the 50 I was already paying so I settled for regular polish.
I appreciate the work done by Chi/​Chee, but I didn’t like the ‘boss’ chicks attitude, she just wanted to take my money I think it was pretty expensive even with a coupon. this was almost 3 weeks ago though and my gel manicure and regular pedi are still intact but geeze, 50 bucks? I’ll just go to strand nails by my house, they don’t push you to spend more money there.

Booked using a groupon (spa pedi and gel manicure) in Feb. Had a 2:00 pm appt. At 2:45 pm I was still waiting. I left. Went back a week ago. Got right in but the spa pedi was a joke. The attendant cut, filed and polished my nails. The bottom of my feet were never touched and I keep my nails short, so we were done with the pedi in 15 minutes. The gel manicure was a little better but not much. No hand massage. Basically a 2 minute soak followed by filing my nails. I asked for french tips and they came out okay. No chipping of the gel as of yet. Probably will not go back.

I regret having purchased that groupon for the $ 25 gel manicure and spa pedicure. It looked like such a great deal until i stepped into this place. only to be greeted with rudeness. The people who work here seem to be incapable of smiling. That would still not matter as much if they at least did a good job.
My friend and i made an appointment and we were on time. However, they started with customers who arrived after us. I had to wait for 20 minutes with my feet in the water until someone was ready to give me the «Spa pedicure» .
Anyway, i was more excited about the gel manicure because i have never had it done before. The lady who did my nails put nearly 5 coats of gel polish and even before she finished, some of the polish was already smudged. She did try to fix it but at the end the work looked no better than if i had painted my nails myself. The color was very uneven.
In two days the paint was chipped. I thought that with gel polish this was not supposed to happen. I actually had to go to another nail salon and have it removed. Sure, i could have gone back to Sky nails to have it removed. but i did not really want to drive 20 miles and then be welcomed with a 30 minute wait again.
I only give them two stars because they did a decent job with my friend’s nails and the pedicure was alright.
Lesson from this experience: Check Unilocal reviews before proceeding with groupon purchase.

Downgraded to 4 stars… I came back a second time and had to wait «only» about 10 mins after my appointment time before they started working on my nails. the reason for the wait was because, while they are supposed to open at 9:30, they didn’t show up to even open shop until 10:00 (my appt time)… How pissed would you be if you came for a walk-​in mani and they weren’t even open?
Anyway, it was a different person this time and the whole process felt kind of rushed and half-​assed. Nails still looked great but I probably won’t go back again as it is no where near my house or work.

I have been getting my nails done here by Yvonne for over a year and have always had great customer service. She does a beautiful job on my nails and will always fit me in when I call for an appointment. Love Sky Nails!

I have not had a good experience with Sky Nails and it’s unfortunate because they are 5 minutes from my house and I would easily give them business if they had treated me well. I used their Groupon and when I went in the first time I waited quite a long time. That would have been fine if they were polite and kind to me while I waited but there was some attitude. The mani/​pedi was fine. But afterwards when I told her I was looking forward to using the 2^nd Groupon I got she told me I had to give that one to a friend. Apparently that was in the fine print. But since that is not the norm with Groupons I asked her to please honor my 2^nd Groupon. She did do that so I have to give her credit, but she had an attitude about it and was blaming Groupon left and right. I understand that Groupons are not great for businesses, but as the customer I don’t need to hear about that.
Then the 2^nd time I came in I had to wait again wgich is normal. Then when I came back 20 minutes later they sat me inthe chair and ran the water. Then they told me that since I didn’t make an appt they could only do my toes and not my hands. I wanted both so I had to leave without getting anything done and having waited a half hour. That was frustrating. I ended up going to Paradise Nails and had wonderful service.
Overall…they are an average nail place… but make a reservation if you want to be sure to be seen. They don’t have the best customer service. With a million nail salons on every block and all of them offering similar services, customer sevice is where a nail place can really stand out. They failed to take advantage of that.

I really enjoyed being the only one in the salon which was nice. What brought me into this salon was I had purchased the groupon and she did a great job on my pedicure but my gel manicure was a mess. She was so sweet that she said I can come in tomorrow so she can fix it. But today is my day off I just wanted to enjoy a mani pedi and had to go back to work. I believe she just put to much gel on an I just wasn’t happy. I appreciate the fact that she said she would do it again but I just didnt want to come back. The picture of my dark nails just says it all. You can tell it wasn’t clean. I ended up going to get my nails redone at a place that I Unilocaled. Unfortunately, I didnt have a great ecperience at this salon.

I bought a Groupon for a mani-​pedi and made sure to make an appointment so I didn’t have to wait. They honored my appointment on time and I didn’t have to wait at all.
After reading lots of reviews about using groupons at these types of nail salons, I was prepared for the questions asking me about upgraded services. I turned down the callous treatment, but the nail tech would not accept my refusal. She kept going on and on about how my feet were *SO* calloused and did I wear heels all the time?! Then, while she was still working on my pedicure, she started telling me that I needed to wax my eyebrows. I told her as politely as I could «no thank you, I don’t like to wax» but she would not let it go. She kept talking about my eye brows while she was doing my nails and saying how they were so uneven and how if I came there to get them done, they could create a shape.
I’m sorry, but I don’t buff my own feet before going into get a pedicure, and I don’t shape my brows and put on full makeup when I’m going into a crappy strip mall for a cheap manicure. I got really tired of listening to this lady basically imply that i am unattractive because I hadn’t groomed prior to seeing her. She could have just made casual conversation (or none at all) but she made it her mission to convince me that I needed my eye brows waxed.
As far as the service itself, the pedicure was barely more than a polish change, definitely not something I would pay for. The manicure was okay but it only lasted about a week (gel polish) before it started chipping badly, and they did not have a good selection of colors. The nail tech filed my nails so short I literally could not scratch myself.

I just got a mani-​pedi using the new Groupon. I didn’t read the fine print about making an appointment, but the ladies were gracious enough to fit me into the schedule. I definitely suggest making an appointment.
Julie did a great job on my nails. She really paid attention to cleaning my nails and making sure the cuticles were in good shape. She did a really nice job on the polish too!
If you’re expecting to just «run in» for a quick job, don’t. The manicurists really take their time and do it right. This is definitely not a chop-​shop like other places. Expect to spend some quality time in the chair. It was worth it.

Lost two stars for the wait and somewhat attitude of the shop. Although the older women I had (when she finally was able to get to me) was very sweet and nice.
Walked in at 3pm to be told it’d be a 30 min wait. I came back in 30 and sat waiting for an additional hour! I would have left had I not given my car to my BF to use so I was stuck waiting. Finally at 425pm I was seated. While the shop, pedicure and women I had were everything the reviews on Unilocal say (attentive, no rush, clean), it was still disappointing to sit and wait and wait and wait without anyone updating or even acknowledging me. I’ve been to many shops and realize 10 minutes usually means 20 – 30 but I asked and even came back. An hour more?! Nuts!
In addition I asked twice for the same toe to get filed because it was uneven and cut wrong. She would file it, but them file the other side so then it was back to uneven. Lastly the credit card machine was «broken» because they were out of paper. Making everyone go to a nearby atm. Nice to know after you are getting the service since some of us might have to use credit cards.
Anyway good shop if you don’t mind waiting and the such… I unfortunately don’t see myself coming back.

I absolutely love this place. It’s located in a small strip mall, but do not let that deter you from trying this place out. I made an appointment here with a friend from out of town. We arrived and were immediately greeted bt the friendly staff. The salon was clean and everything (equipment/​furniture) looked very new. We both got pedicures and were extremely pleased with the results. The prices were very reasonable and our feet looked and felt spectacular afterwards. I got a french tipped pedi and it lasted SO long. Almost month later the polish still was in place and looked fantastic. I’m making this place my new nail salon.

I love this place!!! They do everything and they do it all perfectly I’ve never been able to get my nails and toes and brows at the same place before but they excel at everything here. The techs are so sweet and it’s always a pleasure to come here I come every two weeks and still haven’t had any service I’d rate under a 10. It doesn’t look like the best place from the outside but take a chance on them! I would pay double for every service they offer because the results are just that good and the prices are amazing!!! For what they change you wouldn’t expect fantastic quality but that’s what you get I’ve never hair on of my gel nails here get messed up as I have with most nail places. I don’t have enough wonderful things to say about them!

What Sharon F. said about the callous treatment ain’t NO JOKE! Seriously, the guy that does the callous treatments is the owner, and he scrubs off all that dead skin off of your feet SERIOUSLY. I mean, he’s puts his back into it! I’ve never had anything like it. Most of the time, the $ 5 callous treatment (this one’s $ 7, btw) at other Vietnamese nail establishments, they just put on the cream, lightly scrub your feet right away for 30 seconds and call it a day. Boo! THE callous treatment here is the ONLY valid one, and the only one I will EVER pay for again. They put the cream on, let it sit for a few minutes to help soften the skin while it’s wrapped in baggies, then gets at it. My feet were SQUEAKY clean – I mean it. They even meticulously cleaned underneath the nail, which some places don’t. Those places just make the top look pretty, but fail to get the stuff underneath. Booooo… I hate that!
Anyway, it was cool, the owner was also telling me that he continuously takes classes to keep up to date on the newest methods, products, etc. He says that they are actually certified to give pedicures to diabetics, older people, etc. because of their special needs pedis, which is pretty cool, and really important, because diabetics are usually not recommended to get pedis because of the poor circulation in their feet.
Anyway, they were short-​staffed that day, and I had come in around 6p. They said I could stay, but just warned me that I may have to wait 45 min. It was cool, I needed a pedi BADLY, and wasn’t rushing to do anything else. Y’all know from my previous salon ratings that I don’t like when they cut my cuticles completely off, so that’s the only star docked. Used my Groupon, so it was a pretty fair deal. I tipped my callous remover man well, because he did the best job ever! I will go here just for that.

Just another non-​descript nail place in a non-​descript strip mall? No! This place rocks. There is a gentleman there who does the pedicures — and WOW! It is so worth it to do the 7.00 callous treatment. Not to be gross here, but I have never seen so much skin come off of my feet. Everyone who got the treatment while I was there said the same thing, so don’t go thinkin’ I have the stankiest grossest feet on the planet! And then the reflexology foot massage… wow. The person who did my manicure (a beautifully done french mani, by the way) finished off the pedi with cuticle removal, nail shaping and painting.
An additional bonus was the professional and hardworking Vietnamese staff here really know their stuff. I was counseled about not applying my toenail polish over and over again (I do that to make the pedi last longer) because the thickness of the polish would prevent air from getting to my nails and create a good environment for fungus to grow. No one ever told me that before but it makes sense.
