Schraner Masonry

Schraner Masonry did an amazing job on our outdoor firepit and bbq area. Matt and his crew were on time, very professional, and did the job beautifully. We get compliments from our guests all the time. I don’t understand how they could ever have had a bad review in the past because they did a better job than we ever could have hoped for, and within our budget!

This guy is scam artist. He started a project at my house for $ 12,600, Every time when he was coming for the payment he asked me to sign a receipt for completed part of the project with conditions for the next step. If you sign that receipt you automatically signing your name under new conditions of the next part of the original project which he always was altering, deviating from original agreement and making price higher. He thought his trick will work with me as it probably worked with other his customers. After altering our original agreement twice I said will not pay until he completes what supposed to be done originally. He left the job incomplete.
Besides he started work in one of other projects on my backyard without my approval. I asked for estimate but he started building a fence while I was at work. Built it improperly not following building code and even basic logic sense. I was very upset.
He never came back to redo the work.
Awful experience. Would not recommend to anyone!

We drove two hours from El Centro to meet this contractor for an appointment at our second home in Encinitas. His office confirmed the meeting the day before, no show and not even a courtesy of a phone call to cancel. Very unprofessional.

It didn’t start out as a disastrous experience but it certainly ended that way. After doing an excellent job in the front yard I asked for an estimate for another job. It was too high for my budget and I wasn’t convinced that stone was going to work out in that location anyway. He came down in price and said that he had guys that needed work the next day. I felt sorry for him so I accepted. No one showed up the next day. I called and the owner told me they were on their way. I heard this for the next three days. After they did get started I knew they were not doing a good job so I had them stop. Along with making and leaving a huge mess of mortar/​plaster all over my newly finished deck, they also coated over an electrical receptacle. I brought in a different company to finish the job.

My husband and I met with Matt to brain storm what we wanted to do with our wall. He gave us multiple ideas and designs until we found what we were looking for within our budget. Once the work started that was the last we saw of Matt but thankfully Josh Rodriguez took over which he did an amazing job on our project. He was very respectful and went out of his way to ensure we were happy and taken care of exceeding our expectations!

Matt and his crew did an outstanding job in replacing a rickety wooden fence and gate with a new and solid wall. He was very helpful in the process of planning and implementation, and went out of his way to make me comfortable through the whole process. The work was top quality and will last for decades, I am sure. I would recommend them heartily and plan to use them again on my next masonry project.

When I called to have the work done, I ended up having to create the plan for the retaining wall. When the work began, I found out that the owner let his long haired dog swim in my pool. When I mentioned it, it lied and said that never happened. When the job was finished, he called and immediately wanted his money, which I planned to pay, but he was kind of threatening.

We had them repair a brick hearth that was torn up during a remodel. We already had the bricks that needed to be replaced so the only thing we needed was for someone to come out and patch it up. It cost a lot — over $ 400 for maybe 3 hours of work. We didn’t know what we were doing so we didn’t try to negotiate. The work was done well and Bill was incredibly friendly so it turned out to be worth the money.

Bill and his son’s have done many projects for for us over the years. They are just really good people. They should be called ARTISTS not Masons. They clean-​up every day, polite, and finished work is just amazing.
