San Diego Sailing Tours

I should have noticed that almost every review was 5 stars… suspect? My story is pretty simple, booked a reservation for 2 adults and 1 toddler. It was explained the toddler would not be charged, which I was delighted. However, when we arrived for the sunset tour (our anniversary weekend, yes with our two year old) we were told they overbooked due to their error. Thus, ruining our plans and leaving us stranded. They did refund us, but way to ruin the weekend plans. Plus they could have handled the situation a lot better then they did. Almost seemed they did not want to refund us at first. Beware when booking and make sure to confirm ahead of time if you decide to take a tour. They are not very organized.

Wonderful afternoon sailboat cruise in San Diego Harbor. Captain Mike was friendly and a competent sailor! Enjoyed chatting with him. We learned a lot about the sea life. Enjoyed the drinks and appetizers, too. Lovely day! Thanks, Captain Mike!

I planned a sunset sailing tour for my girlfriend’s birthday and it was amazing. Captain Joey really made our sailing experience fantastic. He was not only very knowledgeable about the surrounding bay he provided excellent customer service and was very attentive. If you are looking for an experience that will be memorable then look no further and book a sunset sail with San Diego Sailing Tours.

What better way to spend the day touring the harbor for 2 hours. Wine and cheese or a free beer is included but that’s not why we go… I loved it so much that we went a second time. Really nice and respectable, calming and peaceful.

We decided to take the plunge and get the ultimate San Diego experience, we went sailing. Captain Curtis and first-​mate Jon did a excellent job. Not only was it a great first time experience sailing but they also kept out 5 years old twin boys entertained. I would highly recommend it. It was a blast!

SD Sailing Tour was the best! We had the entire boat to ourselves. My husband and I brought our two teenage boys and grandad. It’s fun for all ages! We were able to see the sea lions up close and all the different birds. The captain was very knowledgable about all the beautiful sights around SD. The captain even let our 14 yr old steer the boat. Now my son wants his own sailboat. Ha
We will definitly come back!

Captain Alan and his first-​mate Eric took my friends and I out on a beautiful Saturday afternoon for my girlfriend’s big bachelorette weekend in San Diego. Prior to the sail, SD Sailing Tours was courteous and professional about the weather (it had rained that morning), and assured us that it was safe to head out. We were so glad it worked out. Sailing was so relaxing! They served us wine and snacks. And there were amazing stories that left no doubt in my mind that Capt. Alan truly lived and breathed the nautical way of life. It goes without saying, but when people are passionate about what they do, it shows. Eric was a sweet companion to Alan, always ready to refill our wines or snap a photo for us. I highly recommend this tour for a small private group. The Lana Kai was a memorable vintage boat (simply gorgeous!) and so was the crew. In fact, give Alan and Eric a high-​five for us! Maybe even two high fives each.

My husband and I took my parents, visiting from Seattle, sailing this afternoon. It was overcast but still very enjoyable. We were a fairly quiet group as we were looking for something low-​key on a Sunday after running around for Independence Day. Joey and Eric took great care of us — we enjoyed our complimentary beverages and snacks. I feel like the crew did a good job matching our laid-​back vibe. We’re already looking to book another trip!

Just sit right back and you’ll hear a tale. A tale of a fateful trip… Nah, it wasn’t like that. Alan (or maybe it’s Allen) is our captain on this beautiful sunny day in June as we head out toward Point Loma but wait, this isn’t where we want to go! We’d talked with the office manager upon arrival and she said to head to the more interesting and beautiful Coronado. Hey captain, we’d like to go to Coronado. He furrows his brow, as this clearly isn’t his plan but obliges since we’re the customer. Since leaving port he’s been struggling to get the main sail up and we’re barely moving along; the other couple who left port at the same time as us is long gone and nowhere in sight. Do we make it over near Coronado? Nope, we turn around near the Navy base but it’s all good. See, we picked this deal up through Yahoo, so it was something like $ 180 ($ 125+ all the taxes and fees) for 2 hours and great to just try something new this visit to San Diego. We ask about going faster like all the sailboats around us but he says we can’t because the wind is behind us. Huh, as a kid during those 4 years of sailing camp I was taught to tack. Now I do believe this captain knows how to sail but just wasn’t interested in going very far since it took him 40 minutes to workout the issue with the sail (he’s chatty and full of info about the Navy if you’re interested). Would’ve preferred to cover some distance but still an enjoyable day out on the water with my hubs.
P. S.- the drinks and platter of meat, cheese, & crackers is a nice touch

Just Awesome! My husband and I visited San Diego for the first time this past weekend along with my cousin and her husband and enjoyed a wonderful sunset sail on the beautiful Lani Kai! We booked the sunset sail tour for (4) and had the boat all to ourselves which was great because we could really kick back and enjoy ourselves!
Captain Joey and his first mate were so accommodating and made our sail ride so memorable. The weather was perfect and we set sail for 2 hours with the beautiful views while we enjoyed reggage music, champagne, wine, cheese and crackers! The water was smooth sailing and once the sun began to set they gave us blankets so we could cuddle and enjoy a romantic moment with our husbands. It was just wonderful!
I highly recommend San Diego Sailing Tours — def a must do when visiting. Thank you San Diego Sailing Tours, Captain Joey and his first mate (I forgot your name but you were awesome man) — we had a great time! Thank you for the video too that will be a wonderful keepsake to have of our trip! :)

I took my boyfriend for his birthday and was a complete surprise for him. Our captain was great and very informative. The staff was also very friendly, I will definitely come back to charter another outing with this amazing group!

Peter took us out on the sailboat yesterday and it was great. Dad’s been twice now, and is planning on going a third time in two weekends. Peter’s got some great stories about sailing in San Francisco, scary times in Tijuana, and meeting the lead man of Pearl Jam!
Sunscreen, snacks, drinks (beer n wine included), binoculars, extra hats, towels, life jackets all provided. Don’t forget to put on sunscreen! Seriously!

My fiancé took me and our 3 year old daughter on a sunset tour for my birthday and it was awesome. Cool crew, cool owner. Would definitely go again.

Had a fantastic time sailing! This was the highlight of our trip. Picture perfect sunset. The local beer and appetizers were a plus. I highly recommend this as an addition to any San Diego vacation.

I brought my mother to San Diego for a mother/​son trip and chose San Diego Sailing Tours because of their rating on Unilocal and Trip Advisor and let me tell you, I am so glad I did!!! We had Mike as our captain and Joey as our steward and let me start by saying they were so personable… on a sailboat that seats probably 12 –15 they only let six people on any given trip just for that reason!!! They serve a meat and cheese platter with wine and craft beers along with all of their knowledge of the city and its surroundings along the way!!! I now get their 5* and 97% rating and would suggest this to anyone interested on a more intimate setting on their trip to the lovely San Diego!

Had a great time with Megan and Allan. We were visiting San Diego for only 4 days and this was a great way to see the city. The sailboat was really nice and comfortable. I would definitely recommend this little excursion to anyone that just wants to get out on the water for a few hours. Thanks for a great time!

I took my boyfriend on a sunset sailing tour for christmas. We had a great time! The boats provide a large amount of space so that every person on board can have some privacy to enjoy the scenery, but if you want to socialize the staff is really kind and well informed about the area! The view of the sunset and the sea breeze felt great. I highly recommend this company because the staff and atmosphere are amazing.
PS: you get to see dolphins and sea lions!

Jon and Joseph were awesome! I was taken on a tour for my birthday. Although we are San Diego natives, my boyfriend thought it would be cool to see it from a different perspective! I couldn’t have asked for a better gift! The crew members were professional and very knowledgeable! i would highly suggest this tour to anyone who wants to catch the sights of the city from a different point of view!

My wife and I had a great day 9/23:14 with Joe and Mike. We took the 4 hour sailing excursion that goes out into the open ocean. The boat was clean and safe. The captain Mike and and Joe his mate were fun and informative. I got a chance to take the wheel for quite a while!
I highly recommend this company.
