Love love LOVE Dr. Russ and his team! I have worked in the dental field and it is hard to find someone who is so kind, ethical, takes the time to explain everything to you and doesn’t try to up sell you on everything. You can also tell he absolutely loves his job. His staff is the sweetest and they always remember what is going on in my life. I feel like I am visiting family when I go there. Besides just recommending in general to everyone, I also recommend to people with a fear of dentists because Dr. Russ so gentle, patient and doesn’t do anything without fulling explaining it to you. Simply the best.

I have never felt so good about my dental health. All other dentists I’ve been to throughout my life suggest this and that treatment. Dr Russ is so calm and gentle, and truly believes «if it’s not broke don’t fix it» He is extremely honest and trustworthy.
I must say, I really enjoy the entire office. Great magazines to read, beautiful view of birds bathing in outdoor garden area. And office receptionist is so kind and sweet.
Hygienist friendly too, feels like a great place to work, they seem like they all enjoy each others company and love their jobs. And it shows with the excellent service you receive.

Dr Russ is super nice and does a great job. He talks a lot which is super annoying to me it may not be so to you.

Bob Ross reincarnated as a dentist!

He told me I had a cavity when it was only a chip in my tooth and he said he would probably have to remove the whole tooth because the decay was on an important molar. He also said he noticed the tooth behind it had decay on the inside even though it looked fine on the outside. He told me he could see it on the xray, but it looked exactly like the surrounding teeth when he pointed out the ‘suspicious’ gray area. I went to two other dentists and they said I have no cavities. So, if I had listened to him I would have had a tooth pulled because of a chip and another tooth drilled into where there was a nonexistent cavity. He either does not know what he is doing or is trying to rip people off.
Do not go here.

I couldn’t rate this dentist any less, i would rate a 10 star if such thing was possible.
Great staff, caring and never pushy.
I came from a Dentist office which required payment to even EMAIL me copies of xrays (which were paid for) or to fax me something.
I am happy to have found a dentist that cares about patients and does not
see an insurance to max out.
My previous dentist pushed invisalign so much, I went to see this dentist
and turns out — i don’t even need it!

My family and I have been seeing Dr. Russ for many years. He’s a very caring, gentle dentist and truely loves his work. The office is simple, but it’s just him and his staff. Easy to find and park, no hassles. Marion is not only sweet, but perfectly talented at handling all billing and insurance. I have referred many people to Dr. Russ and love the ‘wow’ feedback we always get. So many dentists are part of a group and the feeling is so assembly-​line, but not here. Get ready to meet your new, favorite doctor

Please do yourself a favor and visit an ethical, honest, kind and sweet dentist. You will not be sold useless sh! t, they wont push whitening products or electric toothbrushes on you just to make an additional profit, here you get true dental service without the corrupted manner most dentist seem to treat patients now a’days. I love not being sold crap, i have been to doctors who want to sell me a mouth guard, a toothbrush, whitening products and see dollar signs when they notice my wisdom teeth are IN~ dollar signs i tell you!
This office is awesome, best magazines too: National Geographic, people and readers digest to name a few.

One last loving note, never before have I had such a pain less procedure when it comes to the numbing injection. This dentist is heaven sent.

I’ve been so used to my fancy dentist’s office in SF’s FIDI. I was a bit weary about finding another dentist. I needed one in the neighborhood (close enough to walk or ride my bike). I found Dr. Russ by way of Unilocal and decided to take the chance with the three reviews (all 5 stars). I made an appointment with Marian. She was so amazing over the phone and very helpful. Her lovely voice eased my anxieties about the appointment.
On my first visit, I wasn’t quite sure how to take the space (given it was in a house) and the not-​so-​up-​to-​date equipment and technology, which I wasn’t accustomed to. Heck, let’s see where this takes me. Dr. Russ introduced himself and was unassuming. His staff and him were very kind, personable and wonderful. It’s refreshing to find a dentist that will explain everything he/​she is doing, honest, sincere and attentive to your concerns. The visit was pleasant and I look forward to my next cleaning.

His office, in an old house, is comfortable and homey. It’s not filled with expensive, sterile, flashy marble and stainless steel. It’s a modest, functional down-​to-​earth dentist office. The individual rooms have floor to ceiling windows, so you get to look out at trees and birds feeding. It’s very relaxing.
I’ve had a ton of work done, so trust me here. There are dentists who are in the field for money, and there are dentists who are in the field to help people. Randal Russ is definitely one of the latter. He is genuine, a straight-​shooter, and knows his stuff after decades of practicing.
I have never been uncomfortable with his work or second-​guessed his diagnosis or motives. I recently got a new job with new insurance, so was finally able to come back to his care! Yayy!!!

Dentists can be as bad as car salesmen, especially in San Diego. Dr Russ’ office is nothing like that. It’s a nice small office to go to if you are living around University/​Normal heights.

Dr. russ is the BEST dentist I have ever had. I have been going to him for 4 years now. My husband has gone to him since childhood and now 4 other family members have hopped on the band wagon. Dr. Russ is not a flashy dentist, he doesnt have all the hi tech luxuries like watching movies during your visit. however his work is very good. he has a strong work ethic and doesnt like to take shortcuts. he is more worried about the teeth in your mouth than getting money out of your pocket. he will always thouroughly explain every procedure and layout all of your options to find a solution that fits you. I feel very comfortable with Dr. russ although I have high anxiety about dental work, he always does his best to keep me at ease. I would and have recommended him to EVERYONE I know!

Growing up in the fishing industry, you always know a guy who knows a guy that does a thing. This is how I became acquainted with Dr. Russ. If you worked in the industry and you needed to get some dental work done you went and saw Randy Russ.
Dr. Russ’ office is a converted home on Mead St. in North Park. Located just north of El Cajon Blvd. it is conveniently located next to the 805 freeways. There is also a small parking lot so you don’t have to worry about getting ticketed on the 2^nd Monday of each month because of street sweeping. I seriously hate street sweeping tickets. I got one here once and it $ 40 bucks. I’ve digressed…
I personally hate going to the dentist. I don’t like the idea of gadgetry going in our around my face. I also don’t like x-​rays because they make you put that film stuff in your mouth. Gross! Anyway, I don’t mind going to Dr. Russ’ office. I’ve never waited more than 10 minutes for my appointment. Everyone is really friendly and they have a nice selection of magazines.
Dr. Russ’ office is also great because it does not smell bad. One thing that bothers me about any doctor’s office is an unappealing odor of fruity air freshener and cleaning supplies.
The actual patient rooms are very nice. The dentist chairs face a window that covers the entire wall. During your exam you can look out at nice little garden area. There is only one thing that bothers me about any dentist office in general. Why do they always ask you questions when they have their hands in your mouth? Seriously… I can’t tell you about the girl I’m dating when you have gizmos in my mouth. Also, do you really understand me when I say «Weeewl no un uv eeeeny emmporance…»
