Dr. Hivand owned four practices in Palm Springs/​Palm Desert Area before relocating his family to the San Diego area and opening a new office in Pacific Beach. Dr. Hivand does all types of dentistry including cosmetic and dental implants.

Dr. Hivand has donated his time to Give Kids a Smile program, the Homeless and charity cases recommended by the church. Regardless of circumstances, Dr. Hivand’s patients can be assured that they will only receive the finest in dental care. When Dr. Hivand is not working in his dental offices he enjoys going to the gym, all types of sports and being with friends, Arlene and his daughter, Chloe.

Let me start by saying that this is by far the best dentist I have ever been 2. So my appointment was at 9 and I always show up at least 5 minutes early. This time I was 20 minutes early. I don’t mind waiting and I usually do but Dr. Hivand was ready for me as soon as I walked in the door. I had an extraction done on 2 of my teeth. The doctor told me it’s going to feel like he is «breaking my jaw» oh no that doesn’t sound good. So he does his work and honestly I was expecting a lot of pain but it was done quickly and not harmful at all. I think he played it perfect because he prepared me for a lot of pain so the little pain that I did have wasn’t much. To top it all off I was done by 9:00, so I was out of there by the time my actual appointment was scheduled. So if you need a new dentist come check this place out you will thank me later.

Monday morning I woke up with the worst headache from a wisdom tooth. I made the decision to call off work and make an appointment with the dentist. I called at 9am and had an appointment at 11am.
Close to my house and easy to find. The office was clean and the staff were great. The doctor was very knowledgable and told you straight up what was going on and how much it was. He worked with me on my payments and made me feel comfortable with the procedure. The whole thing was over in about a half hour. I will be returning to get the rest of my work done!

I contacted this office last Friday when I was having serious tooth pain. They got me in Monday, very quickly. Their office is very friendly, and Dr. Houman is very honest and direct, which I appreciate greatly! He didn’t try to up-​sell, he just told me up front what I needed and what it would cost.
I’m pretty scared of dental work, mostly because I’m very sensitive to noises. Dr. Houman had a great sound system in the room, and put on some upbeat music that he hummed to the whole time he was drilling, which made me very comfortable and helped me calm down. His technician that helped him with the drilling was also very friendly and made me feel like I was in great hands. They each asked me, at least once, if I was doing okay. They even offered to rush my filling because I start work the week it was supposed to come in. Their whole office is very helpful.
I have yet to find a dentist in San Diego that I’m really comfortable with, especially since I went to my family dentist for 22 years. Well, I think I’ve found it! This place is amazing and I would recommend to anyone, I’m even trying to convince my fiancé to switch over!

Dr. Houman Hivand is great! I live in Los Angeles, but I actually drive all the way to San Diego just to see him. I was referred to this office by my friend almost five years and have been going there ever since. He and his staff are very friendly, professional and affordable and most important very honest. Dr. Hivand is not the type to try and force any unnecessary procedures on you. I’ve had various procedures — from root canals to extractions. I also ended up getting Lumineers — the best decision I have made in my life! I am extremely happy and satisfied with results — I love my smile!
I would recommend this office and Dr. Houman Hivand without hesitation.

I was referred to this office via a member at my gym. I run a gym with 1600 members in Pb. As you can imagine training in a MMA gym teeth get busted in the past 4 years DR Houman has treated my now 13 year old (who is terrified of dentist) and my Gf on top of that I’ve probably referred 40 – 50 people all feel the same. Dr Houman is a stud. Have never had a complaint check him out friendly and has a good heart will work on price with you! Tell him you train at victory mma and he will hook you up!

I could not love this dentist anymore then I do as of last night. I have had awful experiences at several dentist office and the one before him things dropped in my mouth and and 2 unfinished root canals in need of repaired. I felt warmth and welcomed the second I walk in the door and after a great first appt I left feeling like family. I have a lot of work to be done due to not going in quite sometime, and I have no problem with going to this dentist. Not only is he great at what he does but I work a 8 – 5:30 job mon-​Friday and couldn’t find any dentist outside of those hours. He stays late hours and also Saturdays so I can make it!!! I would highly recommend this dentist to anyone!!! I’m never going to any other dentist!!!

The dentist office staff was exceptionally friendly and made getting my teeth cleaned actually an enjoyable experience. Dr. Hivand took time to explain everything to me and answer all questions that I had. I went in and was greeted by very friendly staff and receptionist that worked together really well. I needed fillings and they were able to fit me in after my cleaning even though I hadn’t booked ahead for that. They were very accommodating to my schedule and now I have recommended my family and friends to them. I don’t have insurance and their pricing and quality is exceptional!

I have been searching for a great dentist for a while and a good friend of mine recommended Dr Hivand. I currently do not have dental insurance so cost was a big issue to me.
The office was located centrally in PB and was easy to park/​find. The waiting room is decorated nicely and felt warm. Everyone in the office was extremely nice and took the time to explain to me the different charges and what not. I was in need of a crown and was told of the 3 different types they offer.
Everything was done professionally and with precision. I certainly will be coming back for all future dental work.
The negative reviews seem to be very spiteful and childish. Seems like someone had a bad experience but I can vouch nothing but the most care was taken with my mouth.

Best Dental office EVER! I have never received better care. Dr. Hivand and his staff have provided me with nothing short of superior service. I had him do 2 crowns and a deep cleaning and couldn’t be happier. I would HIGHLY recommend Pacific Beach Dental to anyone in need of dental care.

I haven’t been back to the office but have been contacted by them many times regarding my reviews. So, here’s an update:
Dr. Hivand is a very friendly and knowledgable dentist and took good care of me while I was under his care. I had a few fillings done by him, and they are still holding up great — actually my current dentist complemented the work (they are on my front teeth). He also took over my Invisalign treatment; the only complaint I have was based on my own decision not to proceed with further treatment (my teeth aren’t perfectly straight now, but they were pretty bad when I first started). I decided not to spend the $ 600+ for Invisalign retainers and instead went with a local lab that the office recommended, for about half the price. Last month the retainer broke, so I’d recommend spending the extra money for brand name retainers. I also ordered metal retainers as back-​ups. Dr. Hivand is reasonable and cooperative and I believe truly has the patients best interest in mind. If you live in the area, I’d recommend visiting his office and giving it a try.

I was recommended to PB dental by a good friend, I went to the office one afternoon after work to see how much it would be for a teeth cleaning and some ex rays to be taken. I didn’t expect to be seen in the same day I went into the office. Houman was very nice, honest and friendly towards me, I really appreciated that quality of service in a dentist. Plus there rates are affordable, which also helped me alot. After being seen that day, I recommended him to my family and friends. Thank u again Houman and staff for doing a great job !!

I haven’t been to a dentist for years. I had a broken tooth and had to have it pulled. He found a tooth that was rotting under a cap and recommended that be pulled also. I was ignoring the pain from that one and am glad he found it. They are reasonable and very friendly. So happy I found them.

Not that great of a dentist. Office looked nice, but the staff was unprofessional. Didn’t know where office supplies were to write me a reminder card, or didn’t think to provide me with a receipt of my services. Did not communicate to me what he was doing or charging my insurance until after providing a service. Only told me so after he did the cleaning, and decided on himself that I didn’t need to come back for cleanings and just a check up. My insurance plans allows for 2 cleanings a year, and he performed a «deep cleaning» (didnt tell me he was doing that) and so because he charged my insurance for a deep cleaning, I am only allowed check ups for the rest of the year. Bill was over $ 500 for the insurance. Not coming back, do not recommend this dentist.

I cannot fathom how these negative reviews came about. My recent experience with Dr. Hivand nothing short of stellar! I had a situation where I needed an emergency repair on a broken tooth. My cousin recommended him to me; from the get go he was very personable individual that understood exactly what needed to be done and did just that. Very relaxing and the best part — it was essentially identical with regard to the look and feel as before. I was extremely pleased with the end result! I am telling you, do not pay attention to any negative reviews below. This guy is legit and he will take care of you.

I called to follow up with someone in person the same day I went in to the office. The girl who answered said she would let the doctor know. No one ever called back, or responded in any way. It shows a lot about how this business is run.
Don’t go here, I looked online and they have 5 BBB complaints, with only three that have been answered. Along with the other Unilocal reviews, this place seems shady!

Great Doc!
It is unfair that others are rating the dentist who used to rent the same office space 2 years ago.
Everyone smiles and greets you when you walk in. The pricing is very good.
