This place is the nicest looking dump I have ever seen. Where do I start… The bartender scoops ice with the glass. This is not only a health code violation but also extremely dangerous if fragmented glass ends up in the ice bin. Their beer taps don’t have any beer. The bartender has to keep running next door to get beer leaving the bar unattended. They also offer nothing as far as entertainment. It’s really boring. Most people just walk by this place. Now I know why.

So I live 2 blocks away from this place and I was really struggling to figure out how they are still open with with no customers all this time. So I decided to try it one night. Walked in and took couple of seats on the patio since I had my dog. Long story short, a guy takes our orders and go prepares the drinks and brings em out, he is also the dj, there is dj booth btw??, and the bartender. Everybody there is trying to figure out if this is a bar, lounge, club and what the vibe is. Let me tell me you this, I walk by it everyday and I have no idea. If it is a club, definitely wrong spot to open one, if it is a bar, it looks too gothic and does not go with the neighborhood’s vibe. My suggestion would be, put some tvs, hire some hot chicks, change the décor and make it a nice sports bar cuz we are missing one in little italy. We have some dive bars but nothing with barley mash, bootlegger style. But again, if you are ok with having 10 people a day and laundering money or something, you guys are doing great. JK:) CLOSEDFORGOOD!!!

Came in here during the Little Italy Art Fair for a drink. The place is a little small but had nice little patio and was the perfect place to cool off and relax. The bartender and rest of the staff were pretty friendly. They had a very good amount of beers on tap and were very happy to let you try them before selecting the one you really wanted. I am not sure if they are always like this but their beer specials were ridiculous. If I am ever in the area, I will definitely come in and grab a beer.

«What’s your drink special?» «Do you serve food?» «How much is a pear martini?» The answer to those questions is somewhere in outer-space because the North End Lounge HASNOMENU’S!!! Seriously??? Ever since The NE Lounge revamped it’s street look I’ve been dying to go here with a girlfriend. Two weekends ago we got dolled up and strolled in to start off the night. There was only ONE bartender working the counter, and when I asked for a drink menu that’s when she said they didn’t have one. She wanted to know what I wanted, but I wasn’t quite sure because I wanted to order something floofy and special. She seemed overwhelmed, and honestly I was a customer not just stopping by but looking to get a drink and LOUNGE. Duh! My friend and I collaborated about what we should order, then got lucky and grabbed two seats that opened up at the bar. We then proceeded to wait 15MINUTES to order a drink but never ONCE being acknowledged!!! What the heck? Oh, and while we waited we saw a large pizza come out the back– does that mean they serve food too??? I am very disappointed… we left without ever having a drink. Bummer NELounge, but you did it to yourself. Ironically, we went down the street to Po Pazzo’s and were given fine service(and delicious pear martini’s). I KNOW both establishments are owned by the same family, but why do they treat guests at NE Lounge like step children??? Aren’t we important customers too???

My new spot. Love the bartenders. Great mixed drinks and good beer on tap. If you get on their good side, you’ll definitely be taken care of there. It’s small with lots of potential to be a good lounge/club.

Not a great experience at all; our waitress was clearly strung out and rather creepy, a number of drinks on the menu were unavailable because they were out of the necessary ingredients and the place was desolate. The space itself is cool but that’s about the only thing is has going for it.

I went to their grand opening and thought it may be a good alternative to the Waterfront. However this last weekend my friend(who is a regular) suggest we(large group) to stop in towards the end of the night(12pm). Some of the group had decided not to continue to drink, while the rest enjoyed a few final drinks. The owner was angry that not everyone was drinking and communicated with my friend with foul language that the next time he brings a group into the bar, everyone should be drinking. I think that the owner should think twice about how he treats his regulars and locals. There are plenty of other great places in Little Italy, I suggest not bothering to go to the North End.

I live in Little Italy and have definitely become a regular at the North End Lounge since they reopened the doors in late July. They have great happy hour deals every day of the week and the staff is always very attentive and personable from the second you walk in the door. The LED lights behind the bar are really impressive and change colors with the beats of the music. The décor of the entire place is very enticing and relaxing at the same time. I love to dance and can always count on the resident DJ to play the best music out there –old school and new! I LOVE this place and have made so many new friends hanging out here. I highly recommend checking out the North End if you’re in the area or planning to be soon. This IS Little Italy’s best kept secret for sure! #NEistheplacetoBE

Hmm… seems like this place has decent reviews within the past year. Most people start out their 1 star reviews with«I really wish I could give them more stars…» or «I hate to give this place a 1 star review…» but no not this time. I happily give this place a 1 star review. We actually wanted to try this new addition to Little Italy even though the weekend nights we have passed by this place it was empty and dead. It seemed so different from all the other establishments in the area having a little bit of a «clubby» feel with a bar and dance floor. Plus, we are always up for something new. We arrived early at 6:50pm to get in line for the 7pm grand opening on 8÷10÷2013. They finally opened doors at 7:50pm and by that time the line grew to a whopping 25 people. We were 4th and 5th in line and we were DENIED admission to their Grand Opening even after waiting almost a hour! We were shocked and so disgusted we just left. However, we could be granted admission for the non-list general public which opened at 9pm. Really?! I’m not going to fight a business to give them our business. I really wanted to talk to the manager but I felt it wasn’t worth it and by that time since we were so upset. The reasoning they gave us was that we RSVP’ed after 1200(not specified on flier or their Facebook event) that day. We even RSVP’ed via email AND Facebook to be extra sure. I even showed them copies of my email and my Facebook RSVP. Was Obama coming to this party??? Was Justin Timberlake going to be here too? Well, sure did seem like it the way entry was working. I find it ridiculous to deny potential customers at a Grand Opening party with so few people showing up even after an hour of the advertised start time. They definitely were not at capacity. Aren’t you supposed to welcome potential new customers at your Grand Opening party especially with so much competition especially locals that live in the neighborhood? CONCLUSION: There’s a reason this place is always empty. I will NEVER be coming to a business like this one that treats its customers this badly.

NorthEnd just reopened and it is fabulous! I know Sal(the owner) hates Unilocal because people would rather online-bash the business for something minor than approach him and give him the opportunity to remedy the situation, but I’m still going to write a review. I live about 4 cartwheels from NE. So you can believe I’m here often. Maybe too often. This place is a chill, comfortable environment on weeknights and more lounge-y and lively on weekends. On the weekends, you will find a number of bouncers, dolled-up individuals, and a DJ spinning Top 40 tunes. On weeknights, you will find me in my stretchy pants, sipping on a G&T, talking about how it is wayyyy past my bed time. Yes that usually happens around 9 p.m., and no, I don’t want to talk about it. I’m old. Also on weeknights, you will find some of San Diego’s best, unwinding, and having a drink. This place just has good vibes. I went last Thursday night and ended up becoming friends with everyone. NE seriously attracts good people. This place is perfect for Little Italy because it is one of a kind. We’ve had an awesome bar for some time(Waterfront), but it was time for an establishment like NE to join the LI community.(Yes, I’m aware NE has been around for sometime, but I’m reviewing it based on the re-opening + remodeling + re-vamping) The new interior is gorgeous! I love the aesthetics and aura of NE. The lighting at night is also a nice addition. The owner is always there which makes me like the place even more. I only met him a couple of nights ago, but he is a very deeply invested small business owner. I have yet to walk by and not see him there. He is constantly making the place better and better. Get to know him. He is a good man. He might even buy you a couple of rounds. NE continually keeps me up past my bed time, but that’s how you know you’re having a great time, right? You’ll be sorry if you don’t check this place out.

Went here pre-dinner for a cocktail. Unfortunately I had just come from the Waterfront, so I wasn’t as observant as I may have been if I had come here first. Why am I writing this then? Well, thought I should mention that the bartendar made a good Old Fashioned(yes, I really did think that was a good idea at the end of a Sunday Funday filled with beers… ugh), and I noticed they had a fair amount of TVs playing the Sunday Night Football game. So, if you get a little weary of the same sports bars offering the same types of foods and beers, maybe try this place in Little Italy if you want to pop your head in for the score. Have no comment on the food, but it seemed like a nice place to have dinner.

I went on a weekday with a friend for lunch cocktails. We were the only 2 people in the place. The vibe was nice. Nice lounge areas, comfy seats, nice spacious bar top. The only thing we ordered was the house Sangria. Delicious! They were only $ 5! Can’t beat it. I’d come here again just for the Sangria alone. The bartender was really friendly and made our drinks pretty quickly. Overall our experience here, although brief, was pleasant! I’d return here again if I was in the area.

Little Italy is becoming to be my usual hangout on a Wednesday and Thursday night. They’ve got everything that Downtown is lacking and that’s practically everything! Coming to L’Angolino North End Lounge, I didn’t expect too much because it’s a Thursday night and that means minimal staff and less-crowded establishments. Walking in to North End Lounge was a bit of a surprise. The décor is dark, the place is dim and the lighting is red… This was perfect! We didn’t come here for the food since we had just finished happy hour someplace else so we were in need of a bar. Plenty of seating, we opted for the lounge area right infront of the Elvira style painting and it was fun. The painting is definately a talking piece. The bartender was cool and she was making recommendations to all my friends. What I liked most was that she was making ginger-ale from scratch for me since I ordered Jameson and Ginger. Cool random spot to hit up on a weekday if you’re with a group and looking for cheap drinks.($ 6 drinks from what I remember)

It’s hard to find a place on India, right in the heart of Little Italy, to find decent bar fare. With Italian cuisine at every nook and corner of the neighborhood, it’s nice to have a spot to retreat to where a good sandwich and cocktail can be enjoyed. North End offered that. Note that I employed the past tense in that last sentence: OFFERED. I LOVED their grilled salmon sandwich. They also had an Ahi sandwich that was equally delicious. Unfortunately, North End seems to be suffering an indentity crisis. The properietor(s) can’t seem to pin down whether or not it should be a lounge, a night club, or a bar. On our last visit to North End a couple of weeks ago, all of those delicious sandwiches had vanished from the menu. Instead, much to our chagrin, we were given a dining menu from the neighboring Italian restaurant(its sister establishment) that was a sheer disappointment. Who wants to order a $ 14+ Italian entrée in a dive-like bar? Perplexing. This is a message to the owners: PLEASE, please bring back those sandwiches. Offering classic bar food, in lieu of the more upscale dining entrees that you are now showcasing on the menu, is what we want. North End has a lot of potential, and it would certainly become our go-to place again when we are in the mood for a casual place to relax and consume bar food classics.

i used to love coming here for their bistro food. they had a wonderful selection of burgers and fish sandwiches i loved the salmon burger because it had bacon so when you took a bite and tasted all that oil, it imagined it was from the bacon even though it was from the fish they had great onion rings and french fries the prices were very good this was the only place to get a good sandwich or burger and fries i don’t like going to burger lounge because it is too expensive and their burgers seem more like an oversized slider than a real burger… we went back to enjoy a salmon burger but they completely changed their menu to italian food there is italian food all over the place! the waitress said other people have given similar feedback. i hope they bring their old bistro menu back.

I can see why this place has a 2 star rating… it sucks. Wandered in last night to this tiny hole in the wall, snagged a cocktail table and waited for over 10 minutes before we just got up and left. The other tables around also were searching for their cocktail waitress and/or the bartender. During our wait I used the restroom which was 1. disgustingly dirty and 2. had a door that didn’t even lock. Really?! You can’t fix the door on your bathroom? Kind of a necessity in my option. You couldn’t pay me to come back here.
