The owner is super friendly and a great talent! I go whenever I am in San Diego. The area is greatly enhanced by this gallery! Check to see if Mee is there. Sometimes she is not in sync with her posted hours(sadly, I missed her twice by not taking this advice).

I’ve been looking into purchasing some art, not only because I appreciate it, but also and more importantly for me, as a long term investment. The gallery is quite lovely and so was the lady running it, the night I visited. I was quite impressed with the works of Mee Shim with the Taoism and Buddhist influence. Her connection to nature was absolutely beautiful to look at. Pictures were not allowed, understandably so, but Mee Shim does have a web site to or you cane simply visit the gallery. Some of her paintings had a series of depth, that allowed one to appreciate the layers of her work and what she has seen in her life. I was most fond of the art work of the forest with trees in the foreground, that led to the background of trees and shrubs, which gave the painting the impression the forest kept on going deeper and deeper. The gallery is small, but very well laid out with plenty to view. It a perfect place to visit right after dinner in Little Italy and you need that walk to walk of all the great food you ate. Some of her paintings depict nudity, so keep that in mind if you have children with you.

Mee Shim’s art is simply stunning. She paints a lot of beautiful portraits that have layers of things like flowers, koi, trees, landscapes, etc overlapping faces and backgrounds. Each piece is so lovely and well thought out; every single one I looked at I kept thinking«Man I love this! I love this one too!» I’d absolutely love to own an original someday. It’s a small gallery, but don’t let this fool you because Mee Shim has loads of artwork on every wall available. I believe most of the works in the gallery are oil paintings and she has some prints available as well. Her boyfriend/husband/partner was there and he was incredibly kind and helpful which I often find isn’t too common with galleries. He also mentioned her prints are only sold in that particular gallery and were not available online. The gallery includes older works and newer ones which I always appreciate so you can see the progression of style/content from one year to the next. This is a definite gem of a gallery in Little Italy and worth a look if you’re in the area!

Mee Shim is one of my favorite local fine artists. Her work is captivating. Her gallery is located in Little Italy, along India street. It’s small, but full of quality artwork from her, as well as a small area with art from other local artists. Truly beautiful. Her and her husband? boyfriend? friend? are there quite often and are very kind and down to Earth. Funny story, I ran into Mee Shim and Dale Terbush(two prominant fine artists) at Jsix downtown on the night before one of my small art shows. I had two of my favorite pieces with me that I was taking home for a couple minor adjustments and was extremely humbled by the praise I received from both of these seasoned artists! It also happened to be my 25th birthday! They were kind enough to pay for a couple birthday drinks too :)

So let me start out by saying I don’t know a whole lot about art. However I have been to a handful of gallery’s and always get a cold snooty vibe. But not here! The piece outside drew me in… It was amazing! My family and I went in and were warmly greeted by Dave! Super friendly guy very talkative. He didn’t make me feel like other places. If you look like you can’t afford it they won’t even bother wasting time talking to you-you know what I mean?! So we are now owners of a couple amazing pieces. We even got to meet mee the artist, she took pix with me and my kids. Mee is Such a beautiful soul. Mee and Dave are really cool people and it was a pleasure meeting them. You must check this place out they have art ranging from inexpensive to real pricey but what ever you get is an honor to own a mee shim piece. The owner of the Winn is a collector I thought that was pretty cool!

Went by this place a year ago or so, and just came by her card again recently. The most unbelievable artwork. You must check this place out if you are in Little Italy, San Diego.

We discovered an amazing artist in the Little Italy section of San Diego today. We saw the gallery was open and wandered in after dinner at a nearby restaurant. We were immediately drawn to the work of this artist. Her talent is extraordinary! After speaking with Dave, who we discovered is her partner, we learned that Mee moved to this country about 11 years ago and lived first in Detroit then Indiana before moving to San Diego. Mee’s Korean heritage influences her work with many of her subjects being Korean people. She also paints colorful and vibrant scenes within a scene. When you go to the gallery, be sure to view her self-portrait. Most of her paintings ranged from $ 1,000 to $ 9,000. This was too steep for our budget so Dave showed us some high quality prints that we could frame ourselves that were under $ 100. We purchased a lovely painting of a tree within a leaf(you need to see her work to understand). Check out Mee’s web site and then stop by the gallery — you will be glad you did. Also, Dave is very charming and fun to chat with.
