Leif Kleven is a passionate attorney and advocate who represents individuals in criminal, civil and immigration proceedings in and around San Diego, California.
History
Established in 2013.
Prior to opening his own practice, Mr. Kleven provided criminal defense representation in both federal and state courts. Through his well-researched and strategically argued appeals on criminal immigration cases, he prevented imminent deportations and kept families together in the United States. He has subsequently formed a civil practice, with an emphasis on plaintiff’s personal injuries.

Mr. Kleven is a member of the State Bar of California, and also a member of the U.S. District Court, Southern District of California. Prior to opening his own practice in 2013, Mr. Kleven was an associate attorney at Baughman & Associates.
Mr. Kleven earned his law degree from California Western School of Law in San Diego. He also earned a bachelor’s degree in international politics from Brigham Young University.
He is committed to pro bono legal service. For more than five years, Mr. Kleven has volunteered at the San Diego Volunteer Lawyer Program. While a law student, Mr. Kleven interned with the program’s HIV/AIDS Legal Services Project, assisting low-income HIV positive individuals with estate planning, bankruptcy and other debtor/creditor problems, and employment discrimination.
