Phenomenal experience having four wisdom teeth removed. As a patient, all my anxiety about the procedure (I hate needles) were accounted for and I was given very professional services.

Dr. Hummeldorf is exactly what an Oral Surgeon should be: extremely knowledgeable, excellent at diagnosing, and a calm and methodical surgeon. He easily and efficiently removed a small bone fragment that was lodged in my gums and had been causing me severe pain and discomfort for over a month. He also drained an infected abscess that was caused by the negligence of a previous surgeon. Do yourself a favor if you need any type of oral surgery, come to see this wonderful doctor. Thank you very much Dr. Hummeldorf!

Dr. Hummeldorf is an amazing oral surgeon as well as a veteran. My husband and I both have had extractions and implants, and could not be more satisfied. The attention to detail makes such a difference. There were no surprises, the procedures went smoothly, as did the follow-​ups, and the end results were amazing. Dr. Hummeldorf personally called in the pm to make sure that all was well. He is professional but not stuffy or intimidating. (for an added treat, ask him to sing you a tune or two). The staff could not be more helpful, and the actual office environment is clean and welcoming. The ladies at the desk always take the time to answer questions and help with scheduling and billing issues. Could not recommend more highly.

I went to his office for an extraction in April. They took me in and the dental work was good, the one star is due to their awful and rude billing staff. They overcharged me my copay and she tried to overcharge me even more just because she wasn’t running the right PPO agreement with my insurance. After months of trying to resolve this, she finally agreed to issue a refund but never even apologized! Ugh she has a bad attitude and made my experience so unpleasant. You expect the billing staff to know their stuff but not at this office.

My son recently had four wisdom teeth removed by Dr Hummeldorf. My son was extremely nervous about the procedure as I guess anyone would be. The doctor and assistants were very helpful and clear about what was going to happen which eased his mind greatly. A few weeks before the procedure we were called and given the rundown of what to do and what not to do the night before. One suggestion was that we check out the videos on their website which we did and was extremely helpful. The day of the procedure we showed up and met with the doctor who told us exactly what was going to happen. I left for the waiting room and a little over 30 minutes later they called for me. He was done.
Later that night, after 6:30, the doc to called to check up on my son which both of us thought was a really nice thing to do.
A few days later my son received a get well card from the doctor. A week later we went in for a follow up visit and all was fine. Completely recommend Dr Hummeldorf for this type of procedure and hopefully when my other three kids need their wisdom teeth removed our insurance company will recommend this place.

I was referred to Dr. Hummeldorf by my dentist for an extraction of a wisdom tooth that had decay and an infection. His office is in Mission Valley, right off the 8 and Texas St/​Qualcomm Way. The first visit was a consultation, and he took a good ½ hour to go over the procedure with me and what I could expect. He sensed I had some trepidation about the anesthesia and he took the time to go over everything with me regarding anesthesia and what he would do to keep me safe. Even though I had the 1 tooth that was bad, the other 3 each had decay as well and I opted to have all 4 pulled at once. I returned 2 weeks later (he could have seen me sooner, it was my schedule that necessitated the 2 weeks) The office is neat, clean, modern and every precaution taken to ensure your safety. The procedure went very smooth, I swear I was awake the whole time, but I lost 45 minutes to the anesthesia. He sent me home once I was comfortable with detailed follow up instructions. Dr. Hummeldorf called me that night to check in and see how I was feeling. My follow up was a week later and he gave me a syringe to clean out the areas that the teeth were removed from and he showed me how to use it. He implored me to call or schedule an appointment if I had any issues that came up and reminded me that there was no charge for follow up visits.
What a great guy, to see him you cant help but smile, he has a loving personality that will put you in the mindset of your favorite uncle. I am so grateful that he did my extractions and would go back to him in a second. Everyone from the front office staff to the nurses were just a real pleasure to deal with!

I just saw Dr. Hummeldorf today and was so impressed that I decided a 5-​star review was needed ASAP. I was referred here for an emergency extraction today. It was already 4:30pm when Hummeldorf agreed to see me. All the staff were very welcoming and answered a couple of questions I had. I only waited about 10 –15min, which is extremely understandable considering he agreed to see me after all of his already scheduled appointments for the day.
In the exam room, he administered local anesthesia, pulled the tooth, and I was out of the chair in literally less than 3 minutes.
He even calls his patients personally to follow up. After getting off the phone from him checking up on me, I knew he deserved a good olé Unilocal review.

I was definitely NOT looking forward to getting all four wisdom teeth extracted, but my experience with Dr. Hummeldorf & his staff was so great that I can actually say the whole process and recovery was SO smooth, I was comfortable the entire time! Dr. Hummeldorf is great at what he does — I had minimal (if any) swelling after the procedure, he is on call ²⁴⁄₇ for any questions or concerns, and I was in no pain at all thanks to him. He and his staff went out of their way to make sure I felt relaxed and comfortable. I really appreciated him calling me the day of my surgery to see how I was doing & the get well card he mailed as well. I will DEFINITELY recommend Dr. Hummeldorf & his staff to anyone I know who needs their wisdom teeth extracted. Thank you so much for your professional and kind service, Dr. Hummeldorf!

I have been scared of dentists forever, and because of that I had a tooth that needed to be extracted. The staff was exceptionally welcoming, and made every effort to comfort me. Dr. Hummeldorf was friendly and aside from the numbing shot, I didn’t feel a thing as he extracted the tooth and the adjacent wisdom tooth. It took less than 60 seconds to pull both, he knows what he is doing and is efficient. If you have any apprehension about going to an oral surgeon, this is the one you want.

I recently moved to the area & due to a high level of pain, found out that I needed my wisdom teeth removed. I was actually referred to a different oral surgeon, & I am so glad I ended up choosing Dr. Hummeldorf instead. I am a huge chicken when it comes to IV’s, surgeries, anything medical, but he & his staff made everything ok. It’s been a week since my surgery & I’ve been in minimal pain. They even called & sent me a get well card within a day! 5 stars, absolutely.

My dentist referred me to Dr. Hummeldorf to have all four of my wisdom teeth taken out, when I was asking for the time off from work to have the procedure two of my co-​workers also had there wisdom teeth done with him and they loved him! That made me relax a little because I was super nervous.
His staff is AMAZING! :)
The day of the procedure they are very helpful, very understanding and they call you the next day to make sure you are fine or if you have any questions.

I had all 4 wisdom teeth pulled and was back to my typical mommy business in just hours. Dr. Hummeldorf and his staff are wonderful! Dr. Hummeldorf even called me that evening to see how I was… I’ve never had a doctor check in on me like that. The next day, I received a card with a get well note from the dr himself. Just amazing.
