Lady who works at the desk is very rude to me each time I call or go in the office! Very, very rude. I don’t know how she has kept her job the way she talks back to customers like she does. Very poor service. Dr block is very old school and if he wasn’t my whole family’s dents I would NOT choose to come here.

I’ve been going to see Dr Block twice a year for 10 years. The guy is nice, competent & a straight shooter. Never had a problem with any of the work I’ve had done & I’ve referred many friends who also continue to patronize Dr Block.

When I lived in San Diego, I had Dr. Block as my dentist. I never realized how good I had it until I moved to LA and went through 3 different dentists in 4 years.
It’s a small office and the people there are really sweet and care a lot about their patients. I’m not terribly brave when it comes to dental work and he’s always been very patient and understanding with me. (Yes, I don’t like dentists.) I’ve had 3 wisdom teeth pulled by Dr. Block, each of them quick, painless, and without any complications. His practice is a little old skool, but that’s ok. It means he’s got simple, cost-​effective solutions and has seen it all. He knows his stuff, yo.
I highly recommend him.

I have been going to Dr. Block for about 6 years now. As Lisa G said, you will never find another dentist like him. He is fast, efficient, and will put you at ease. I call him the «zen dentist.» He is also very honest and will give you a truthful diagnosis and options. I have referred friends and coworkers to him and they like him as much as I do.
I have never had an insurance problem and his staff is wonderful.

I have been a dental assistant for many years. You will never find another dentist like him, he does it all!
Not just that, I was told recently by another dentist that I would have to have a tooth pulled, she said it was an easy tooth to pull out. However, my experience told me otherwise. She was a horrible dentist to say the least!
I am happy to say that I went to Dr. Block to get a second opinion, if someone is going to pull my tooth I wanted someone with surgical experience, he told me that we will do everything in his power to try to save the tooth.
So far so good, I still have my tooth! You cant find dentistry like this anywhere anymore! Every dentist you go to these days can only do bits and pieces, then they refer you to another guy for something else. I just want one chair and one bill and one place.
As for the other reviews on here, You are so dead wrong about this place. My insurance paid just fine, and never had a problem with the staff.
P. S. You must be really butt hurt to post a review after 10 years… just sayin

I have to say that visiting this dentist was one of my worst dental experiences ever. I went to Dr. Block to have a simple filling. He began by deliberately digging out the tooth that needed the filling. After an hour of deliberately digging it out, he told me that I would need to have a crown. He then sent me to have a root canal. I have always suspected that he had a scam in place with the dentist that did the root canal. She did a good job and so I do not want to complain about her. Had it not been for the fact that she did a good root canal, I could have lost the tooth. He didn’t look at any other teeth to see if anything else was wrong, thankfully, otherwise he might have damaged more teeth.
Why didn’t I sue him? I just wanted to make sure that he completed the job once he started to damage it. After the root canal he fitted the wrong colored crown. I eventually found a decent dentist who didn’t operate like him. He is old fashioned and should retire, leaving better trained dentists and better equipped dental offices to do the type of work that he is supposed to do. I am in the medical field and feel that I have some credibility to file this report. Thank goodness for Unilocal.I can now file this report so that others can beware.

Harold Block was amazing with my entire family. Including my 6 year old who now loves brushing her teeth and my little 3 year old who had his first check up. He was caring and understanding and did not force the issue with my little guy, so that he was never afraid during the check up.
My wife and I were also happy to find a dentist that does not try to sell you on anything and everything for an extra dollar. We did not get the «Hey you really should have a Deep Cleaning!» (for that extra $ 500) or any other add on sales stuff that seems to be the norm at all of the big dentist offices these days. Mr. Block and his staff treated us with kindness and fairness. I would certainly recommend this dentist to all of my friends and family.

STAY AWAY… FAR FAR AWAY!
I was referred to this dentist through 1 800 DENTIST about 10 years ago. Experience was pleasant at first, until i realized how incredibly rude and disorganized the staff was and how bad the customer service truly was.
I had a crown put in by them back in 2000. Was too white and clearly too large. When I asked about the color, the assistant told me ‘we thought you were planning to get your teeth whitened.’ Wouldn’t they know whether I was planning to get my teeth whitened? After all, they were my dentist. Also, because the crown was too large, it was throwing off my bite.
To top it all off, my insurance company never received any paperwork because the dentist’s admin was sending my claim to the wrong address. However, she kept telling me my insurance company was rejecting the claim (because she hadn’t heard back). I spent many hours on the phone with my insurance company to figure it all out – what a nightmare. I tried many times to relay this info to the admin and the dentist because i kept getting letters from them threatening to take me to collections. They didn’t listen and were adamant that they were doing everything correctly. They weren’t getting paid because of their own mistakes!
Dr. Block doesn’t understand the old adage ‘the customer is always right,’ and sided with his admin. He finally fixed the insurance issue, and told me never to come back. You couldn’t entice me with free dental care to come back to this place!
I blew off the wrongly colored and sized crown for many years and only recently replaced it (getting a crown is not a pleasant experience!). My new dentist was surprised at how poorly my prior crown from Dr. Block had been done. However, she replaced it with one that matches in color and actually fits! Plus, my bite has been corrected!
My bad experience with Dr. Block kept me from going to a dentist for a long time. Lesson learned, use Unilocal and friend referrals to find a good dentist – not 1 800 DENTIST. The only info they can share is the dentist’s location, years of experience, education and credentials – obviously not bedside manner or quality of service. 1 800 DENTIST is funded by the dentists themselves and they do not care if you have a bad experience.
