Dr. Emmanuel Aguilar graduated from University of the East, in Year 1986. He received the post graduate residency training at UCLA for Cosmetic Dentistry. During the past 27 years, Dr. Aguilar, an implant dentist in San Diego, has been striving to offer the best of dentistry to his patients. In order to be on the cutting edge of dentistry, he has attended numerous hours of advanced education in all aspects of dentistry, including surgical and restorative implant dentistry, cosmetic dentistry, TMJ, orthodontics and principles of full mouth reconstruction. Dr. Aguilar’s in-​depth training and experience as an implant dentist enables him to treat the most complicated dental problems, often times helping patients who have been turned away by other dentists. I usually don’t write reviews unless I receive superior service somewhere, as I like writing about positive experiences. I scheduled an exam and potential cleaning with this office under the insurance my employer offers. I never ended up getting work done here, so I can’t speak for their work.
I called in to see what my co-​pay was going to be and was told they don’t let patients know over the phone. Ok… I told them I wasn’t going to walk into an office, sit down for an exam, and take the time to get checked out if I didn’t know what I’d potentially be paying for their services. I don’t want to waste my time or theirs. I was put on hold and them taken through a range of what different cleanings would cost based off how my exam turned out. Great, that’s all I was asking.
I spoke with my insurance company about the difference between PPO plans and DMO plans. I have the option to go with either. I started with PPO but it seemed DMO fit my needs better, as it covered 100% of preventative costs rather than 80%, which PPO covers. When I called the office back (as Aetna said they were listed as accepting new DMO patients) the lady I had spoken with previously pretty much tried to guide me as to not go to DMO, as my copay would be higher. I told her I was told the opposite by Aetna and from what I was looking at, I’d actually be paying less. Keep in mind, I’m just asking questions because I want to know what I’m getting into before going to a new dentist. I’m not trying to be annoying.
She got very defensive and told me that maybe I wasn’t the «right fit» for American Dental and I should find a new office. I told her I was jus trying to understand what my choices were and asked for some clarification. She got extremely rude and said «we’re not your insurance company and maybe you should look elsewhere.» So I told her I would.
I am baffled by how you could treat someone that is just trying to find the best situation for themselves. I am new to paying my own dental insurance, new to California (lived in Jersey my whole life) and was just trying to get a better understanding of what my options were. Super unprofessionally and extremely rude! When I went to ask the HR manager in my office she told me that the offices don’t make as much with patients on DMO, so that’s maybe why she got defensive. I get that, but then just say it up front! Don’t try to tell me I am the problem! Who treats potential customers like that??? Rude!!!

I love this place everyone here are nice. Place is clean. This is my third session of invisalign and already I can see the results. I can’t wait for the last look. And u get free whitening after all what a great deal. Price are responsible. Quick and organize appointments schedule .

I am so glad to have found Dr. Aguilar as my new forever dentist. He is so kind and caring. I am usually so nervous about getting numb, yet I was pleasantly suprised that I barely felt anything. Even after my appointment I had no pain.
The front office staff were so friendly. Latrice answered all my questions and helped me afford my dental treatment. I really appreciated all of her knowledge and patience. I had so many questions and concerns since I hadn’t been to a dentist in a while.
Everytime I enter the front door, I am greeted by name and am taken back shortly after I sit down. All the assistants are so attentive to my needs.
I had to do a deep cleaning and get veneers on my front teeth and the operation was nothing more than a calm experience. Dr Aguilar really knew what he was doing and I loved the final product. My teeth never looked so good.
Now I am telling all of my friends and family to come here. Since I have a new smile, everyone asked me who my dentist is. I tell them to go to American Dental. Dr. Aguilar and his team will take very good care of you.
I could go on forever about how awesome this dental office is. Myself and my family will always keep coming back.

I signed up at Costco for Delta Dental Insurance (DHMO plan), and came to this clinic due to the 4⁄5 star Unilocal reviews.
The front desk, staff, and Dr. Aguilar were all very sweet, informative, and helpfu. However, after getting my services done, I feel as if I did not receive the best possible care.
On my first visit, their X-​Ray machine was broken, so Dr. Aguilar did an oral exam to see what I needed to get done. After the exam I was provided a list of the work I needed to get done: a deep cleaning and 8 fillings. I had not been to the dentist in a couple years so I felt as if this was reasonable and did not think twice about it. His assistant explained to me very thoroughly what they would do, and how much it would all cost with my insurance (around $ 1400 total).
On my second visit I had my X-​Rays done, as well as the deep cleaning and the 8 fillings. While Dr. Aguilar was performing the deep cleaning he «discovered» I had two additional cavities that needed partial crowns. I found it odd that he did not see these cavities when he performed the initial oral exam or after looking at the X-​Rays I just took.
Total time for the deep cleaning + 8 fillings? 1 Hour.
Now, I’m not a dentist, but that much work in a span of 1 hour did not seem right.

I found out later that the Costco DHMO Denta Dental Plan locks you in to only one dentist, who usually use cheap materials and are not required to report the procedures done, nor are they held accountable.
I’m not putting down Dr. Aguilar and this clinic, maybe they offer a better service to their full-​paying customers.
For the amount I paid, I did not feel like I got the quality of service I deserved, and therefore will be switching to another insurance provider and dental office.

DO NOOOOOOOT TRUST THIS GUY!!! HE IS LUCKY I CAN’T GIVE LESS THAN ONE STAR! I’ve been in the dental business for 20 years, I know what the hell I’m talking about. I went in to get a regular cleaning and to get 2 fillings replaced, he refused because he would ONLY give me a deep cleaning (total scam) and rather than give me 2 fillings, he gave me the most insane reccomendation i’ve ever heard any dentist give anyone. He told me I needed to replace EVERY SINGLE TOOTH IN MY MOUTH IN ORDER TO RAISE THE PLANE WHERE I BIT DOWN. Mind you, i have very healthy teeth. So, I laughed at him thinking he was just joking, but after the 3rd time (!!!) he mentioned it, i realized just how much of a scumbag he really was. The craziest thing is he knew COMPLETELY that i have been in this industry forever. Aaaaaand, just so you know, this is the 2ND TIME I’M WRITING THIS REVIEW because since I filled out his stupid form, he knew where I worked. So he called my work and TRIED to get me in trouble, so I took it down, but I won’t be threatened anymore. People need to know who they are getting ‘professional’ treatment from. This guy is highly unethical, a complete liar, and I would recommend you do not step into his office EVER. Consequently, I went to a QUALITY dentist, and got exactly what I needed just like I knew I did. BE WARNED!!!

At the start of the year I had to switch dentists as my dental insurance changed. I was recommended to American Dental by a friend.
The office was easy to find. Plenty of parking. Walking in, American Dental was clean and professional. I got all set up at the front desk and was ready to get my cleaning.
Everyone I met was super professional and polite. My visit was the normal routine. Check in, x-​rays, then the actual cleaning.
Milena was the one who x-​rayed my teeth. She did a fantastic job. Super polite and friendly.
Dr. Aguilar did my actual cleaning. He was very professional and did a great job. My teeth felt and looked great. Easily one of the better experiences I’ve had at a dentist. After my cleaning Dr. Aguilar came back with my x-​rays. He went over them with me and I was informed that I managed to get myself a cavity.
So I’m scheduled to get that taken care of. Usually I’d be worried, but having a positive first experience, it gives me the confidence that it will be quick, painless, and professional process.
Solid 5 out of 5. If you’re looking for a great dentist you’ve found it!

This is top-​notch dentistry right here! Dr Aguilar has been my dentist for over 10 years and I trust my dental care with him completely for myself and my family.
Dr Aguilar is very knowledgeable and will explain thoroughly the procedure. His staff will go above and beyond to make you feel comfortable as well. I’ve came in for routine cleanings and have had extensive work done (crown, root canal, extractions). I’ve never had an issue and each visit have always been stress-​free and painless.
If you looking for a dentist, look no further and give them a call. You won’t regret it!

Ive been going to Dr. Aguilar’s American dental clinic for years now. I always loved the warmth of local places. I live far now so when I visit my family in san diego I simply use the same day to make my dental visit. I had my teeth whitened by Dr. Aguilar and I swear I’ve gotten so many compliments. I’ve also had a root canal done by him and it was great! Did not feel pain afterwards — did not need anything afterwards. He made it seem like an easy procedure! =] I love this clinic and the staff!

I’ve been going to American Dental for years. I’ve actually had Dr. Aguilar as my dentist when I was younger and he was still at another clinic. I’ve always found him to be gentle, caring, honest and always looking out for my best interest.
I made the mistake of going to other dentists a few times who told me all sorts of things «I need.» Dr. Aguilar has always told me I had good teeth so I was pretty shocked when another dentist told me I needed braces. Another dentist I visited (only because of a Groupon for whitening) told me I needed to have my wisdom teeth pulled.
When I mentioned these to Dr. Aguilar, he reassured me that I didn’t need any of those.
Dental visits can be pretty stressful for some, but going to American Dental has always been a pleasant experience for me.

I have been going to American Dental Clinic for almost 8 years and have had a range of dental needs from regular cleaning to Major root canal and event a cosmetic bridge put in place. Dr. Emmanuel Aguilar and his staff have always been courteous, professional and very fair in pricing. It has been a year now that I have been going to Dr. Noël Aguilar for basic dental work. This year, 2012, I decided to have Dr. Aguilar worked on my upper front teeth for a complete change not only for aesthetic reasons but more for comfort and the ability to eat and chew my food better. I have been wanting to bite an apple for a long while. Not only do I looked great now for the perfect job the whole staff has done but my self esteem shot up immediately like a rocket for the results they promised to deliver. DO IT NOW! For all of you who have been wanting to have a perfect smile, it will change your life. These procedures are more than a wardrobe change but a gift from GOD for a very skillful dentist who share his talent to his patients. Thanks to Mrs. Aguilar and the staff, my visits were all worthwhile.
