Grim Ave Barber Shop

Larry is awesome. Be aware he is appointment only, for some of you that doesn’t work. For me that is great because I don’t have to wait in a line and I set it to my schedule. I’ve been for almost three years and in that time only twice has he not been able to get me in on short notice (less than 48 hours notice). Both of those time were right before major holidays, so he was booked up. He’s also been able to get me same day depending on his other appointments.

Larry is an ok barber. BUT without any grace whatsoever!
I suggest you NEVER be late or he will toss you out.
I was hung up in SD traffic and called/​texted to reached AND PAY for the missed appointment.
he said.. . «get a new barber!» So I did. I suggest you do so too! Good luck Larry!

Larry does a great job! Always cleans up me perfectly! The best barber in San DIego hands down. Just remember its by appointment only, and sundays and mondays are his days off so dont call him. Excellent Barber!

Great experience decided to try a barbershop in the area, since I started to let my hair grow out. It’s a chill environment and he’s a good guy. I am more than satisfied with my cut. Solid barbershop and I will be back from now on.

Best Barber in town. I’ve been getting my head shaved by Larry for the past 8 years and now this is the only place I will take my 2 year old son. Larry is the coolest guy who provides a warm, friendly and professional environment. I consider him a great friend and an asset to the community. Call to schedule an appointment he is busy, but you get his undivided attention when your in the chair.

Immediately (as in SAME evening) after my original review on 10÷7÷14, Larry decided to send me an unsolicited text message rambling about irrelevant issues and making excuses as to why he cancelled his appointmentS (yes, that is a capital S) with me but yet he decided NOT to try and reschedule or speak with me during the times that he was originally cancelling. There are definitely better ways to mediate an issue but I guess Larry does not find that method useful so instead he chooses to send his potential client a rambling text message to make the situation even worse.
If Unilocal reviews effect your livelihood, I recommend a different approach next time rather than sending me a text message which is borderline harassment.
In my personal opinion, Unilocal provides a platform for potential and current customers to make a decision based on reviews as to whether or not they should patronize a business again or at all and no one should be harassed for providing factual information based on their experiences. I’ve been going to this barber shop for years and he’s one of the best barbers i’ve ever had! Larry gave me this sick cut and i’ve been compliments ever seen. Always a pleasure going to him!

Great place to go if you want a short, spiky haircut. If you’ve somehow moved on from the 90’s or unfortunately quit your 90’s revival boy band, you should probably find another barber. This dude can’t cut hair.

I get my hear cut here probably once a month! I’ve been going there for about half a year and I will not go anywhere else. Larry is a great barber and a grey guy to just chill and talk with. I highly recommend you get your haircut here!!! Price is reasonable.

Good Barber

I’ve been going to see Larry at Grim Avenue Barber Shop for three years now. Larry’s the most consistent barber I’ve ever had — I’m one of those people who’s kept the same hairstyle for ages, and from my second visit Larry never had to ask any questions, just gave me the right cut every time. And he’s a friendly guy too.
I’ve always been able to get an appointment within a day or two every time I’ve called, and I think he’s started to take walk-​ins some days of the week as well. I tried out several shops in town before finding this one, and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Grim Ave. to anyone looking for a new regular barber shop.

I came to San Diego from Georgia a year ago. And there is no other barber like Larry in the city. Hands down professional and always on time. Understands that fact that something a simple as a hair cut can change a way man feels… next time im in san Diego you can bet ill be @ Grim barbershop … Thanks Larry

This place is literally 2 minutes from my doorstep, so how lucky am I that it’s a *great* place to get a haircut? ;)
To echo what a lot of people have already said — Larry is a great barber and a great guy. I would say «consummate professional» would be an understatement with this dude. He really loves to cut hair, and takes a lot of pride in his work and his business.
I’ve also gotten cuts from the walk-​in guy there, and you can tell Larry won’t hire anyone who isn’t as professional as he is.
Also, price-​wise this place is incredible. Literally the same prices as supercuts for about 10 000% more effort.

I’ve been going to Larry for about a year now and refuse to go to anybody else for a haircut. Every time I get a cut people often comment on how great my hair looks, and I always tell them to give Larry a call. He can do every hair cut imaginable, but where he shines is in his fades and blending, there is seamless transitions from the different lengths of hair. Larry really prides himself on his work, and you too may find it hard to see anyone else in the future.

Larry is the best! He is an artist at cutting hair. He takes his work serious and that’s what I like about him. He is always personable, professional, and detailed. I am a female who decided to shave my head, but I didn’t know how to maintain my hair once it started growing. Larry gave me tips on how to get my hair to grow and what products to use. He takes the time to make sure his customers are satisfied. I am now growing my hair out. I am so happy that I went to him, because he really helped my hair grow out evenly. I would give him ten stars, if I could.
