Just had my first session with Karey 3 days ago and WOW! What a difference it is to have perfect brows ²⁴⁄₇!
I spent a lot of time researching eyebrow tattoos. Karey’s before and after pics, along with her perfect reviews, made choosing an artist easy.
There is a long wait to see her (obviously!) but she was so sweet accommodating my schedule changes and other things that came up prior to our appointment. She is genuinely a beautiful person, inside and out. I knew, before even meeting her, that i had made the right choice.
With that being said, I was completely comfortable and confident when my big day had finally arrived. I wanted her input re the best color and shape for me. She showed me a color that was very similar to what I’ve been using. Then she meticulously drew eyebrows on. After a few minor adjustments, I was looking at perfect brows and ready to be tattooed!
Like other reviewers, I agree the first step felt like getting tweezed. Really no big deal at all. She numbed the area for the 2^nd step, but it would’ve been tolerable (for me) without. I have a lot of tattoos and can handle being uncomfortable for long periods of time. The numbing cream actually made the experience relaxing :)
When she was done, I looked in the mirror and could not believe it! Sooo natural with the hair strokes. The shape is similar but looks so much better than what I’ve been drawing on my face for over 20 years! This was the first of two sessions. The second session she goes in and touches up, fills in, etc… whatever is needed for absolute perfection. They are beautiful as is, so the second session will be very minor.
If you are on the fence about permanent makeup, do yourself a favor let Karey hook you up! Such a difference and a HUGE time saver! Looking pretty first thing in the morning, and just out of the shower, will really make you feel great!

My name is Carol D and I was looking for a place to have my eyebrows done. I checked Unilocal and found Fine Lines Studio. I met Karey who was sweet and friendly. I felt comfortable so I decided to have her do them, Believe me, I am so glad I did, She worked her magic!!! I am so happy. I highly recommend her.

I literally just got my eyebrows done TODAY w/​Karey and I couldn’t be more excited to write this review! First, I found her on Unilocal.I’ve heard about the tapping/​hair technique for years, but couldn’t find a place in San Diego that really lured me in; until fine lines studios. The «before and after» pictures on her Unilocal page looked great! Just like I wanted, natural looking. I usually do have a more defined brow, but that’s only when I have my full face glam on. It would be nice to just have naturally looking eyebrows for work days (which I have no/​minimal make up on), quick grocery runs, and just for daily looks. Anyways, the first thing I did was text her since it’s more convenient for me and she texted back fairly quick. I informed her that I was a little nervous because, obviously the word «permanent» and «my face» were involved in the same sentence and anything done permanently to your face can always be scary. Karey totally understood that and made me feel so comfortable and this was just via text! When I actually met her for my consult (which I highly advise for nervous nelly’s like me) she definitely reassured me even more and talked in detail about what to expect, the process, how it will heal, how to take care of it, etc. she was very patient with me and gave me the time I needed and I never felt pressured at all to book the procedure with her since I just came for a consult. After the consult, I felt comfortable enough to book the actual procedure which wasn’t until a couple of weeks later. (she gets booked really quick ladies!) when I got there, the atmosphere was very calming, clean and well prepared. I showed her pics of what I wanted my brows to look like at my consult already, so the next step was just to pick a great matching color and sketch it on my brows. It’s relieving to know that she sketches it on first with a NON-​permanent pen, so you get a rough idea of the shape and what it will look like. (FYI, the actual outcome looks wayyyyy better than the sketch and I thought the sketch was already great! Lol) I’ve heard horror stories of people getting permanent brows who didn’t even get like an outline or anything before they got put the permanent stuff on! Scary stuff! Anyways, once we agreed on the color and shape which took like almost an hour and 30 minutes because she literally takes her time with you and makes sure you are 100% happy with the sketch because that will be what she uses as her template for the permanent stuff. So I appreciate her SO MUCH for taking her time to do that with me (being the picky person that I’am. Hey, again, it’s permanent so I wasn’t playing any games, lol) and don’t be afraid to ask her for her opinions. She’s been doing this for 9+ years so she knows her stuff. Once I was 100% happy with the sketch, then came the actual procedure. To be honest, I wasn’t really scared about pain because I’ve had body tattoos before so it wasn’t really a major issue to me. I was more concerned about what the outcome will look like. I have to say though, the tapping technique tattoo is a very different feeling than getting a tattoo on the body. There’s steps to this procedure, but the most painful part (which wasn’t at all that painful to me) was the first step. It felt like an intense eyebrow plucking. That’s the best way to explain it. After the first step though, she puts numbing cream which takes affect in like 5 minutes and does the rest of the steps which is like a walk in the park after the numbing cream was applied. So if you know what eyebrow plucking feels like, you’ll do fine with the first step. After everything was done, which I wanna say was like 45 – 1 hour for the actual procedure? (I could be wrong) I finally got to look at the finished product. Both brows. And OMGGGGG it was literally life changing! Even though I saw her work on Unilocal with her pictures, it’s so surreal seeing it on yourself! They literally look like real hair! It’s insane! I’m use to seeing my eyebrows filled with pencil, but THIS just looked like I had full natural hair on it! Ahhhhh I’m still literally not over it! Anyways, bottom line, YOU WON’T BE DISAPPOINTED. When i first went to get my eyebrows tattoo with Kerry i was nervous. But she made me felt comfortable. She was kind, friendly and comfortable anf enjoyable person. She would keep intouch with me to see how am i doung. My touchup day, she made me felt so hapoy and satisfying. I would recommend anyine to come to her.

I’ve been wanting to get permanent make-​up to feel more confident all the time and to save precious moments getting ready every day. I researched a few other places in the area and I was disappointed in other people’s technique and lack of professionalism.
Then I found Karey’s Studio! It all started at her web page. It is extremely informative and gave me a good baseline in knowledge. It even chronicled her trip to help women in the military gain more confidence. I got in contact with her and scheduled my first appointment.
Meeting her was a treat. She gets to know you, your style, and your personality to help you craft the perfect face. All of my nerves disappeared and I wasn’t worried about the actual procedure. She used plenty of numbing cream and I didn’t feel more than a pluck. She truly cares for all of her clients! If I could do it all over again, I would go straight to Karey at Fine Lines!

I always was curious about permanent makeup. I’m glad I finally decided to get some work done. I’m glad I found Karey. She has to be one of the sweetest person I meet. She’s very professional and her work is amazing. After just one session my eyebrows look fuller and so natural. She has been with me through the whole healing process which was way easier then I expected. I’m excited for my second session. Thanks Karey ^_^

Karey was wonderful — I had permanent lip liner done in another state which I had a small issue with. Through a series of texts, she consulted with yet another artist at another studio and they both agreed that it was fine and nothing either of them could improve on. How is that for actually turning away business? Karey is incredibly honest and caring, and I certainly appreciate her frank assessment of my obsession over something that is obviously only visible to me.
Oh and BTW, this all happened on a weekend, that’s how devoted she is to answering anyone who texts/​emails her.

One of the best decisions I made this year was to let Karey to take care of my eye brows. In the beginning I was super anxious and and afraid of something going wrong on getting a definitive make up done. But Karey was patient with me and let me take my time to make my decision! The decision to tattoo one’s face is not to be taken lightly. Visions of Joan Crawford and sharpie drawn eyebrows went through my mind because face it, the last thing we want is for things to go wrong when it comes to applying permanent makeup. Karey came highly recommended to me by my esthetician and I’m extremely happy (and in the end, quite relieved) I went with her. Even with a great recommendation and reading her awesome Unilocal reviews, I still had my reservations. This would be a permanent commitment on my face after all. Karey not only discussed and answered all of my questions in an honest and straight forward manner, but there was never any pressure to get the procedure done if I didn’t feel comfortable with it. Not only is Karey AMAZINGLY skilled in her craft, but she’s truly there for you through the entire process and is a very genuinely nice lady. If you don’t know exactly what you want, she makes the process easy and more like a makeup consultation. You’ll draw eyebrows together and she’ll give you options on colors and styles, along with her professional input. What stood out to me was that she gave me her artistic and creative guidance, but at the same time she always made sure to feel out where my comfort zone was, staying on the conservative side. (You can always add more later, right?!) You’re making the decisions together and discussing every step of the way, making this process not at all nerve-​racking. I had expectation of feeling a little more pain from hearing other’s experiences with permanent makeup tattooing, but the tapping method was surprisingly easier than I thought. It feels more like someone is plucking your eyebrows and I barely felt the eyeliner procedure at all. I trusted Karey and gave her creative reign as far as designing the shape, while staying in my comfort zone for color. I absolutely love, love my eyebrows and upper eyeliner!!! Who doesn’t want to improve their look for the better?! Not only do they look fabulous and like a work of art, but I’m elated by the freedom and time I save getting ready for work every day. I’m finding myself applying less makeup now because Karey brought out my features in a subtle and natural way. I go back in a month for a touch-​up and can’t wait. In the end, I’m thrilled I found Karey to tattoo my face! She’s truly a talented and passionate artist and her work is absolutely beautiful!

Karey is amazing! She did a fantastic job and I finally love my eye brows. I loved everything about the whole experience, from her work studio to the way she handled me being nervous. I definitely recommend Karey for getting your eyebrows tattooed. She was able to fix my old tattoo. She listens to what I want, gives her opinion and many options then let’s me decide what the final decision is. I have a busy schedule and have had to change appointments on the last minute and she has worked with me. She is very gentle and makes sure I am comfortable at all times. I fell asleep during the procedure! The numbing cream helps too.

I have never posted a Unilocal review before, but had to create an account after my experience with Karey. It couldn’t have been better! She is amazing. I had been thinking about permanent makeup for my eyebrows for years. I went to two different consultations elsewhere, and saw before/​after photographs of dark, solid, unnatural looking brows. I gave up, until a friend recommended Karey. I kept cancelling my appointment because I was nervous, but she was so kind and stuck with me and scheduled time with me. Once I met her and saw the studio I immediately felt at ease. My fear of «tattooing my face» was gone, because it feels like a make-​up appointment, with a small tool, not a tattoo gun. We spent time going over the process, answering all my questions, and designing the shape of my new brows. She made sure I was happy with what we decided. Once the process started, I couldn’t believe I waited this long! The feeling was a little uncomfortable, but not painful and once she gets an outline, she applies numbing cream so the majority of the procedure is pain free! I’m a big baby when it comes to stuff like this and I can honestly say that it was a breeze. I’m so happy with my brows and am thrilled I did it! If you’re thinking about it, go see Karey :)

Karey is just amazing. She made me feel at ease right away. From the moment I stepped into her studio, I felt like we were long lost friends. I love the way she explained everything in detail, every step.
I have had my eyebrows tattooed 12 years ago and 6 years ago and yes, they do fade after some years. I had two different faded lines and they looked horrible. I was hoping that Karey could tattoo over both and make nice fresh new lines. What caught my attention was the fact that when she tattoos, it looks like she tattoos single strands of eyebrow hairs which makes them look so much more natural. She did exactly that. My old lines were no longer visible and the new lines look amazing.
What I liked also is that Karey does not use a tattoo gun which can hurt. Her method is so much more gentler and she takes her time tattooing each hair separately. Just amazing. What a huge difference from my old tattoos. She draws the eyebrows on before she starts tattooing so you can see exactly how they are going to look.
I’m so glad I found Karey. She has such great skills in her craft.

I’d give 6 if I could! Keri came highly recommended by a family friend who had her whole face done (eyeliner, brows, lips) and was very impressed with her skill and attention.
Keri is one of those people that goes beyond the extra mile to make sure you’re comfortable and get what you want.
She is super gentle and really focuses on giving you a natural look.

Karey is one of the sweetest people you’ll ever meet. She takes the extra time and care to design your eyebrows just the way you want them. She makes sure to keep you as comfortable as possible the entire time she is working on you, carefully drawing in every individual hair, and the results are fantastic! She did a partial brow for me to fill in some pretty large bald spots and the people I’ve shown can’t even believe that it’s not my real hair even by examining my eyebrows very closely. I’ve always been nervous about going through with this procedure but now I am so glad I did! I’ll be rolling out of bed looking glam from now on.

Karey is the star!!! I wanted to get my eyebrows done for a long time but I was afraid (I have not tattoos or piercing on my body). I did lots or research and had consultation with 4 different makeup artists. After talking to Karey and checking her saloon I felt comfortable and finally scheduled an appointment. She was very patient with me and really took her time to draw the perfect eyebrows. The procedure itself took about an hour. She applied numbing cream and was constantly checking if I am doing ok. I absolutely love my brows!!! No more pencils and disappearing eyebrows! Karey did such a great job that I even came back to get the eyeliner done! Love it! I got my eyebrows done by Karey. She is one amazing and super nice woman. She totally change my eyebrows to how I want them and worked very hard to make me a very happy customer. She takes her time doing what she does best. She is very patient and understanding. When I first came to her I didn’t exactly know what shape or how thick I wanted my eyebrows. She was very helpful in finding me the perfect eyebrows. The process for me wasn’t too bad, it was a bit long but like I said she takes her time to make sure you are one very happy customer. Other than beings a bit long the pain for me was minor but I do have high tolerance in pain and she does use numbing cream after she draws in the hair lines. I would definitely recommend Karey to anyone and will be coming back if I want to get anything else done.

Eyebrows help frame and accentuate the face, so it’s a little nerve wrecking finding someone to trust with this permanent procedure. I did not really have much eyebrow naturally and had lots of practice drawing them on. I got very good at it and feared nobody would be able to apply them as well as I did. I spent a couple years researching and meeting different people before selecting who I would have do my eyebrows. So happy that I found Karey! She is such a wonderful person, a perfectionist, and truly the best at what she does.
Karey was very patient and professional about designing the right shape that worked best for my face while still giving me what I wanted. I was actually very excited and felt very comfortable! She doesn’t use the traditional tattooing machine that I usually see. Instead, she applies permanent make up using the «tapping» method. A manual tool with 7 tiny needles. It feels like plucking when she initially goes in to create the base, but she is generous with the numbing gel to make sure the rest of the procedure is comfortable. The numbing gel is good stuff, I felt nothing. I even almost took a nap! I feel the tapping method allows for better control and precision. The hair stokes look so natural and the shape came out perfectly!
It takes two sessions to get your finished product. You can think of the first session as a time to lay down the base/​foundation. So don’t expect it to be perfect just yet. About a month later, you can go in for the second session to touch up. She will go over everything again to make sure there are lasting results and uses this opportunity to fine tune anything you want (ie. adjust length or height, saturate the color, add in a hair stroke or two, etc). She really takes good care of you :)
I’ve finished both sessions and I am so happy! Love Karey to pieces! Such a beautiful person, inside and out. She is a perfectionist and takes pride in her work. It truly reflects in the results.

Karey is not only a great person, but also the best at what she does. She goes out of her way to please you and ensure the best results. I had a permanent make up done before by a different person and the results were ok at best. When I went to Karey she took the time to listen and designed the brows that I was very happy with. They look extremely natural and nobody cant tell they are not a real hair. I would recommend Karey to my friends any day!

Karey is simply amazing. I had my eyeliner done elsewhere with a machine, after a year the lines were barely visible.
A friend had recommended I find someone who uses the tap method. Not only is it less damaging but the lines are better. If I’m tattooing my face, I’d like to have it done by someone who knows what they’re doing.
I was a bit worried about working with someone again because I’m picky about what I want. Karey was open go working with me and offered to continue the work until I was happy.
The custom eyeliner package was 100% worth it!!! I don’t have to fuss with my make up at all during the summer. I can go swimming without worrying about looking like a raccoon! I spend ½ the time I used to when I get ready.
My mom also had Karey do her liner and eyebrows as well. Her brows are perfect. I really like how she tattooed each «hair». They look soft and natural. My mom looks 10 years younger.
It’s been two years since I’ve had my liner done and things are still going strong. My bestie is going to get her liner done and maybe I’ll consider doing my lips next…

Who knew Karey could make me look years younger by getting my brows done. I can’t tell you how many compliments I have received since I have had them done. Karey is absolutely AMAZING! I am extremely low maintenance when it comes to my makeup so I just wanted very subtle eyeliner.
I was soooo nervous about having a needle close to my eye but Karey uses this hand tool that she has complete control over, it’s not your typical tattoo procedure, at all!
Karey and I discussed what I was looking for over several consultations and made me very at ease. The day of, we went over it again, she slapped some numbing cream on me, let me relax for 20 minutes then got down to business! I didn’t feel anything!
30 minutes after the procedure I was back to work and no one was the wiser as to what I had just done ;)
After all, I don’t need everyone knowing my beauty secrets… Am I right, ladies!!?
