Farm Fresh To You San Diego Area

My second order with this company I was charged for a delivery that I didn’t receive. When I contacted them to ask for a refund I was denied and told that my box had been delivered. Very poor customer service, I was charged $ 33.00 for something I never received and they didn’t make an attempt to problem solve at all. I cancelled my account and will be sure to tell anyone who asks about this company to not purchase their product.

Total rip off! We couldn’t be more disappointed. We ordered a small box to start to try the produce and for $ 21 (promotional rate) we got 3 kiwis, 2 nectarines, 2 peaches, a small container of blue berries and mini watermelon. One of the nectarines had a mold spot after only 2 days, and the rest of the fruit was good, but not the sweetest or freshest we had ever tasted and were promised from local organic growers. For the price and value it’s not worth it. Cancelling

This is a review of the sales team, not the service. This company comes to my child’s karate school. The sales woman offers free samples of apples and oranges, and of course my hungry four year old, who is exercising there, wants to try them. This woman came a while ago, my son tried the fruit and I spoke with her. She was very pushy, but I was genuinely interested. I have done CSAs before and I like them. But I told her I needed to speak with my husband and see if we could afford it. I did, and we decided we couldn’t. I do remember that I received several phone calls from the company following up with a much more pleasant salesperson, but I didn’t order.
Today, a couple of months later, this woman was once again at my sons karate school, and of course he ran over and wanted another apple slice. She offered him a plate of fruit. She started to give me her sales pitch but my son was already late for his class so I didn’t have time to talk. I politely said that we were late for class. After I got my son ready I sat down on the bleachers to watch his class. The saleswoman started speaking to some other moms next to me, and all of a sudden I realized she was complaining to them about me– saying I must be embarrassed because I told her I was going to sign up last time so she could get her commission but I never did, and so she didn’t get her commission! It was so incredibly inappropriate and rude. With her sales skills, it’s no wonder she is desperate for a commission.
Here is a tip for this company– people like CSAs because they like to feel like they are doing something good, being connected to the community and supporting a worthwhile and ethical business. The sleazy used car salesman sales style is not really a good fit for this business. Just a tip.

I have been receiving weekly boxes since mid-​April. I wanted to give it a month before I gave a review because we didn’t start off on the right foot.
I felt like a child on Christmas morning waiting for my first delivery. Every car that drove by, I was at the window, «Is that my box? Is it here yet???» The window for delivery is 8 p.m. the night prior to your delivery day through 8 a.m. the day of your delivery. Well, it was 8 a.m. and I didn’t have my box. I was SO sad. Just when I was about to call Farm Fresh, my neighbor walked up the drive with a box. My first order was delivered to her. I learned that she also subscribes to Farm Fresh. What are the odds?! So the delivery person was probably on auto-​pilot. Mistake forgiven. I emailed Farm Fresh and the following week, my box was delivered on my front porch.
In my 3^rd box, I received some moldy tangerines. I contacted customer service and sent some pictures. They took care of me right away in the form of a credit.
So, you are probably asking yourself right now, «Why is this person giving Farm Fresh 5 stars?»
Well, despite the 2 problems I’ve had, the positive definitely outweigh the negative:
1) Customer service– as you can see by my experience, they made things right.
2) Quality of produce– besides the moldy tangerine, I’ve had some of the best produce I have ever tasted. Some examples include sweet potatoes, baby broccoli, gold nugget tangerines, cameo apples, carrots (nantes & rainbow). I haven’t had any issues with our produce rotting. I am very diligent about properly storing all my produce. THIS IS EXTREMELY IMPORTANT!!! You can bring a wilted head of lettuce back to life with a quick rinse in cold water, the salad spinner and some time in the fridge. My Friday morning ritual is drinking a cup of coffee while my 19 month old son helps me take everything out of our box. I wash all of the greens and put them through the salad spinner. I store them in either ziploc bags or storage bins in fridge. I put a paper towel in to absorb any excess moisture. Just look up how to store produce online. Does it go in crisper? Low or high humidity? LOOK IT UP! If you look at the handouts that Farm Fresh includes in your box, it will also tell you how to store some of your fruits and veggies.
3) Customization– I really like that you can customize your box. We order the Mixed Fruit and Veggie in the More size every week. This is for 3 people; 2 adults and a toddler. This is to supplement what we already grow in our garden. I like that I can remove anything that we are already growing and add something different. You can also choose add-​on items such as local honey, eggs, rice, sauces, applesauce, etc.
4) Convenience– The box is delivered to your front porch (or sometimes your neighbor’s…haha). Everything is done online through «My Farm Stand» a personalized portal to manage your account. Very convenient for parents that do not want to deal with a toddler throwing a tantrum in the grocery store.
5) Inspires creativity– I’ve experienced many firsts with produce from Farm Fresh. I made rhubarb cobbler, green garlic and cheese toast, carrot greens pesto. They also include a handout with recipe ideas.
6) Transparency– you can see where your produce is coming from. They list the farm name and location! How awesome is that?
7) Environmentally conscious– GMO-​free, organic, seasonal
O.K. I’m done. I hope this review helps someone in their decision to choose Farm Fresh to You as their CSA!

I LOVE Farm Fresh To You! I have subscribed to other CSA boxes in the past, JR Organics and Suzie’s Farm (San Diego region). I LOVE both of these farms’ produce, the only thing is, I’m WAY too busy to be picking up my box at a farmers market of even someone’s doorstep nearby… I’m busy, I need it at MY doorstep!
I’ve subscribed with Farm Fresh for 6 months now, and they consistently deliver fresh high quality delicious produce every time! I save so much time having to go to the grocery store. The convenience of picking my veggies online and having them delivered to my door either 2x or 1x a month depending on how busy I am n if I have time to cook, is a God send! My wife and I were nervous about letting someone pick our produce, but we really loved the concept so we decided to give it a try. It was a little pricey but I don’t mind paying extra for convenience as long as quality is good. Obviously by the one star you can guess that it was not.
The produce we received on our first order looked like the crap that grocery stores are about to throw away. The bananas were black and went straight to the trash and lettuce and cilantro was wilted and didn’t last a day. Half of the oranges were hard and sour but there were a couple of good ones. The avocados were hard as baseballs, but maybe they will ripen and be okay in a week or so. It’s back to Sprouts for me where I know what I’m getting. I am calling to cancel ASAP.

Sad company product and to hear a manager tell it, these are their «transition months» and I’m not too sure what was meant by that :/​
Looking through other customers Unilocal pictures, it looks like customers from longer ago had more beautiful fuller boxes, that look closer to the pictures they advertise on their pamphlet and website. Other customers from very resent months had pictures VERY similar/​same as mine. Sad. *Since company response, farther perspective: ³⁄₅ stars = 60% = D–

Today we received our first shipment. We could not be more disappointed. This shipment is full of produce that will be thrown away.
The carton smelled of rotten produce when opened it and now our kitchen stinks! We found all the contents to be at least several days old (if not several weeks old). The tomatoes are mushy with rot and mold. The dirt-​covered carrots are limp with their tops already removed, seemingly to hide their age because their remnants are dried and brown. The tops of other root vegetables are shriveled, yellowed and rotting. The celery is dry, showing broken stalks that appear to have happened a week ago.
Also gotta say we’re quite disappointed with the size. We have never seen such small produce. The beets are smaller than a pingpong ball. The 2 short, pencil-​thin lengths of dry lemongrass are laughable. The apriums are merely bite-​sized.
A complete waste of money!

I was really excited to try this… I’d been seeing it a local events and hearing about it for awhile. I signed up on Earth Day and loved how easy it was to customize the box and the delivery feature was great! However, I was extremely disappointed in the products! The strawberries were old looking and moldy, the lettuce arrived wilted and dark and within 2 days all the other greens and veggies were wilted. 2 stars because I love the local concept and the 2 apples and 3 kiwi were good, but not worth $ 27. I cancelled immediately.

Farm Fresh has been great! I can choose my items, delivery always on time and produce is fresh.

Overpriced, Green, Padded Reviews. They must do better. I really don’t think this is the average farmer in a coop effort. It looks like one rich family’s attempt at pulling one over on the good green conscience people of the world. I say no to this company. If I find a real organic farmers coop in San Diego, I will update my post.

Signed up at the Bridal Bazaar back in January and I love this service! As a stay at home mom it can be hard coordinating nap times and appointments with grocery shopping especially since we eat a lot of fresh organic fruits and vegetables. I understand that it’s generally local, it’s organic and it’s convenience that I’m paying for and I’m happy to pay for that instead of enjoying screaming baby to and from the grocery store. The customization feature is awesome on the website if I can remember to do it. Otherwise I just have to suck it up and go to the store.

I am as surprised as the other high-​star reviewers that this business has received so many negative reviews.
We LOVE this service and the flexibility offered in our choices. We do a bi-​monthly delivery and I always change the produce to suit our tastes than what is originally offered up. We have never had a problem. We had to suspend service one month for a vacation we took and had NO issues in doing so. Our service resumed when they said it would without any hang-​ups.
Our box is waiting on our front porch every other Thursday, like clockwork — love the convenience! Most of the food goes to our son’s meals, but we eat some, too, and it has been tasty and fresh. Never disappointed since we can change the items in our box prior to delivery to ensure we get items we want.
Great produce and this service also allows for an easy way to add on some extras if you so choose. The jalapeño mustard is wonderful; highly recommend throwing a «splurge» item in now and again to try new treats.

There are a lot of negative reviews here, and I think they mainly stem from people A) not reading things they sign up for, or B) not understanding the nature of organic produce. Yes, it will go bad faster. It is not coated in wax, covered in pesticides, or pumped with preservatives.
This service is great, if you know what you’re doing. I pick great items, control my preferences, and the one time I was unsatisfied, my account was immediately credited.
I’m all about it.

have been receiving this service for about 3 months and I am about to cancel it. I am in North County (Carlsbad), and every week, I get at least 1 or 2 items that are either old or rotten. Most problems I have experienced have to do with the fruit, but some vegetables have had issues too.
Some examples:
Tomatoes and they were already growing mold on them when I opened the box
Grapes that were also looking black on the area where the stem joins the fruit
Corn that was looking yellow on the leaves from being old an drying.
Pears that were black and rotten on the inside
Cantaloupe that was rotten within 2 days of delivery
In a nutshell, I do not recomment his service because it is expensive and each week you will be getting fruit that is rotten or will rot within a couple of days

Okay, an update is in order.
After my previous review, I was contacted by a customer service rep., and then a customer service manager. She spent about 20 minutes on the phone with me, listened to my concerns, and seemed genuinely interested in my feedback. She gave me a concession for my time, and asked me to watch the next couple of orders to see if anything changed.
I did, and it did! The next batch of strawberries was actually mostly perfectly ripe! The next set of bananas was just a tiny bit green, which is good, because we can’t eat them in one day, and it gave us a chance to finish them. The orders were filled correctly. The only complaint I had was that one of the egg boxes had gotten wet on the bottom, and when I picked up the box, that part of the box (still wet after several hours of sitting) cam off, and an egg fell out. But I was able to rescue it. I appreciate that they keep things cold, but the egg boxes shouldn’t be wet! But that was a tiny part of the order, and everything else was perfect in the last couple of orders, so I believe they actually did something — didn’t just pay «lip service.»
We’ll see if the good quality continues, but, as of now, I am happy! (If not, have no fear — you’ll hear about it.)

Awfully overpriced! This company is RIDICULOUS! I paid $ 42.58 for my first delivery. FOURTY TWO dollars. Pretty sure I could have purchased it for $ 25 or less at Sprouts, and ALL organic.
I get it, the tomatoes alone are probably $ 3.00, the Strawberries $ 5. But kale, lettuce and cucumbers? Come on, those aren’t high priced items organic or not; Cilantro is around $ 1.99 on an expensive day.
I am no stranger to CSA’s, I happily had Abundant Harvest for over two years, but decided to try something new. Nope, going back, running back, taking the train back! I could have received AH’s LARGE for the same price and received 3 times as much produce.
Edit: and thanks, Dearest Barbara for your curt and unapologetic review. You can cost compare all you’d like. Clearly your Unilocal reviews speak for themselves-you’re not as competitive as you claim. I’ll take my business elsewhere.

I really tried to like this service; I even signed up twice to give them another chance. However after getting TWO boxes with rotten fruit, produce that was so small I could eat it in two bites, & service that was so bizarre I was left wondering if it even happened, I was done.
Do not sign up for this product. It sounds amazing & it even has the potential to be a great service but the people who run it do NOT CARE. I really wish these people would get their stuff together because their new web site is awesome & super easy to use but their products suck.
Also I always signed up for the $ 26 box which NEVER came out to that amount. It always reached closer to $ 35 based on what produce they had & all the extra things that they «need» to put in your box.

I started out with a groupon for Farm Fresh to you. My first box arrived and I was kind of underwhelmed. Two grapefruits molded within three days, and well, nothing really seemed all that fresh, or local for that matter.
I decided to give them another go, and paid full price for a second delivery. The carrots were limp within a few days, the beets were packaged for retail sale, the basil too, with a «product of Mexico» stamp on the plastic container it came in.
Farm Fresh to you isn’t a true CSA experience. If you are into supporting locally sourced, farm fresh products, there are MUCH better options and for a better price.

My husband had purchased a living social deal from Farm Fresh as a gift for me, as he knows I love organic produce. We received our first box and everything was delicious (see photo attached). I ordered the vegetable and fruit combo and received blueberries, avocado, kale, lettuce, blueberries, broccoli, white peach, and a few other items.
I like the convenience of having it delivered right to your doorstep. There’s a sense of excitement with opening a package to see what’s inside. like you’ve received a present!
I do love supporting the local farmers. However, we ended up canceling the service mainly due to the price and also because I get my produce from Stehly Farms, OB People’s CO-​OP, and Sprouts. Unlike other reviewers have mentioned, I don’t think it’s a scam and I did not have any issues with calling and canceling the service. It was a hassle-​free process for me and only took a few minutes.
