History

Established in 2008.

In 2005, Kerri accepted the honor of being the maid of honor in one of her best friends’ weddings. The bride being a dancer as well, Kerri had the idea of putting together a very special surprise wedding gift for the couple. She brought in 6 dancers to portray the Bride & Groom in 3 stages of their lives and relationship. After experiencing the special moments and emotions with the bride & groom as well as watching the reactions from the entire wedding reception room, she knew this was the start of something to embark on. In late 2008, Kerri was approached by her first wedding couple in San Diego. They were getting married in Jamaica and had only a few weeks before the «Big Day». Kerri took on the challenge and sent them off with, in their words… «The best, most entertaining dance for their wedding guests». From then on, Kerri has worked with many couples to help assist them in one of the most memorable moments of their wedding day!

Kerri, born in the central coast and native of Paso Robles, Ca, Kerri found her way to San Diego in the end of 2007. She has trained in multiple dance styles and got into the wedding industry in 2008. She has produced many first dances that range from Latin inspired to Irish punk to swing to hip hop medleys. She has also created many flash mobs (involving professional dancers, wedding party and/or guests), bridesmaids, garter toss, bouquet toss, mother/daughter battles, parent, proposal and other surprise dances…

She’s done themed and non themed events that are unrelated to weddings too. Sweet 16 birthday dances and quinceaneras. She also makes a splash as a guest at a party for live instruction…

Any dance related ideas you may have are of no obstacle to Kerri. She loves a good challenge.

Kerri helped us choreograph our first dance to Ray Lamontagne’s «You Are the Best Thing,» and she did a great job. My husband and I have no dance training, and we didn’t want an awkward first dance at our wedding (like him trying to spin or dip me when I’m not ready or both of us moving out of sync). I was so happy that I found Kerri! She met all the factors I was looking for: someone to come up with a dance for our specific song; a dance that wasn’t too complicated but also not too boring or cheesy; someone with flexible hours (and she came to our house, so what’s easier than that… our house is small, so you really don’t need a lot of space); and reasonably priced. I was a little skeptical that two one-hour lessons would be enough, but it was enough for us (with practice on our own). And the whole process was fun — I think my husband had fun too, even though he kind of dreaded the idea of dance lessons (but he knew we needed them). Kerri is a great teacher who accommodated my husband and my different learning styles. And she was good at adapting to our feedback of which moves we did and didn’t like or troubleshooting the things that were tricky for us. Most of us have probably sat through a lot of wedding receptions where the first dance is kind of awkward, boring and too long. Do everyone a favor and get lessons from Kerri so that your guests have something fun and entertaining to watch! Plus, all the practice we did on our own was quality bonding time for my husband and me. And it made the first dance more fun and relaxing for us since we had specific steps and moves to concentrate on — instead of just slow dancing and feeling weird that all eyes are on us.

Kerri is so much fun to work with! She did such a great job preparing us for our first dance! My husband was very nervous about dancing. Kerri’s method of teaching is great. She started with the basics then built on it each week, bit by bit and we had a full routine for our first dance in just 4 weeks… spins and dips included! She’s funny, patient, punctual and an absolute pleasure to work with. Kerri is the best! Look no further for you wedding dance instructor. :-)

We were definitely impressed with Kerri! We hired her to help me and my husband for our first dance and she was great! She really worked with us and what we were looking for. My husband isn’t a dancer so he was nervous learning and I like to dance! So she worked with us on what would be good for our dance style. She saw videos and listened to the music we both liked and wanted to use. She gave great feedback and husband and I wanted entirely different dance styles she worked it out and it was great! We ended up having a waltz with some meringue. It was a fun dance and each lesson she helped fine tune our steps and the dance. She was so awesome to work with and she’s so patient! Definitely take her advice and have one of you last lessons at the venue — it give you a great idea on where you’ll enter and how your dance will flow. It was super helpful for practices after visiting the venue.
Her prices are very reasonable and she’ll come to you for lessons.

Kerri choreographed both the first dance for our wedding and the Father/Daughter dance. Kerri made it so fun and easy! She has such a great personality, and amidst the stress of planning a wedding, it was SO much fun working with her. It was a great distraction and really helped keep us all connected and having fun. My Dad is super stiff and doesn’t have any rhythm, but Kerri was able to choreograph something super simple for him but made it look AMAZING! Both dances were such a hit at our wedding. I cannot find enough words to express how fun it was and how amazing Kerri is. I highly recommend her!

If I could give Kerri more than 5 stars I absolutely would. Both my husband and I cannot say enough great things about her. Kerri is fantastic at what she does and was a dream to work with. She was way more accommodating than we could ever ask for. Kerri helped us with not only our first dance but also a «flash mobbish» bridal party dance and she couldn’t have been anymore patient with our big (14 people) bridal party. Needless to say scheduling sessions so that everyone could make it was very difficult but Kerri was as patient as ever and really went out of her way to make our day the best day ever! Not only was she an amazing instructor, I gained a friend after everything was said and done. I highly, highly recommend her and I cannot stress the importance of a choreographed 1^st dance. Kerri, thank you so much for all your help, you’re wonderful and Casey and I can’t thank you enough!

Kerri did a great job getting us ready for our first dance as husband and wife. Not only did she come to our house, but she made us feel completely comfortable and was very flexible on timing.
Being a guy, I was hesitant to go through with all of this but Kerri and my wife were very patient with me and Kerri made me excited to practice and nail our first dance. The first dance was a huge hit for all of our friends and family and was a huge highlight to the overall aesthetics of our wedding.

Kerri was a great dance instructor to choreograph and patiently teach my husband to be confident in dancing. If you are looking for dance lessons for your own personalized first dance, please look no further — Kerri comes to you and can teach even the most reluctant men to dance!
Once we chose a quite complicated song, Hey Ho by the Lumineers, and tried on our own one night with a youtube video — then we realized we needed help. Kerri came in to help us learn our steps at our house and in the local park when we needed more room. It was so invaluable that she came to us, especially with our crazy work schedules and everything else going on with wedding planning during the last few weeks. On the big day, my dress bustle broke so I missed a few steps tripping over my train, but our dance was literally the highlight of our wedding. I can’t stress enough that my husband did not want to dance at all and now he is confident in his moves and turned out to be a fabulous dance partner because of Kerri. Thank you Kerri!

Kerri did an amazing job choreographing the surprise dance my bridesmaids and I did for my now Husband. We had 3 rehearsals and even though I had two girls who lived out of town we were able to record our sessions and send them to practice with. Loved Keri– She choreographed our first dance and it turned out fabulous! We got many compliments on it! We did mess up but the best part was no one knew– do not take shots before your first dance listen to Kerri!
Kerri was sweet, made sure we had the steps down, and came to our house which was very convient.

Wish we could rate higher than 5 stars!
Kerri beautifully and thoughtfully choreographed the first dance for our wedding and it was one of the highlights of the entire evening! Neither of us are good dancers (and my now-husband has absolutely ZERO rhythm — he almost loses his gay card for this!), yet Kerri patiently worked with us to create a dance that would be uniquely «us» and that would surprise and delight our guests (while not being too complicated).
She’s EXTREMELY reasonably priced AND she even came to us (very nice to have lessons in the comfort and privacy of your own home).
For anyone doubting the need for a dance instructor, consider this: you WILL be on display for your first dance. You don’t want to look foolish or uncomfortable in front of your guests. That wouldn’t be fun for you or for them. Using a dance instructor will ease this stress. And using Kerri will make the dance FUN and personal to YOU as a couple. Also, you only need about a month or so to prep, so if you’ve put this off till the end, you still have time to create your perfect first dance.

My husband and I thought we would just «wing it» with our first dance and do whatever came natural. When the DJ heard the song we were dancing to was Frank Sinatra’s «Come Fly with Me» he said «I really hope you’ve been taking dance lessons!»
Well, we hadn’t…I did my research and called up Kerri who was very sweet and accommodating (even though we were only 8 days away from the event!)
She came to our house and led us through a 2 hours lesson that we so desperately needed! She started out with a simple move and made sure we had it down. After that we moved onto some fancier moves and she helped us choreograph our dance. We had so much fun doing it!
She even videoed us dancing while we did the dance to reference later. She left us feeling very accomplished and with the instruction to practice as much as we could. The dance turned out amazing and I would highly recommend Kerri to anyone

I wanted my first dance to be choreographed, even though I knew my fiancé was not big on dancing. I found Kerri on Unilocal,picked a song and presented the idea to him. I was pretty shocked when he agreed to do it. From day one Kerri, was excited and dedicated to making our dance special and our own. Her bubbling personality always set the tone at our practices, which helped keep my fiancé interested.
The wedding day dance was great. It brought us closer together during the planning of our wedding and bonded us together on that day. We had a great time doing it and our friends and family loved it. They know my fiancés personality and couldn’t believe that he took the time to learn and perform our dance. We got so many compliments on it, because everyone was able to see our personalities come out during the dance; which just showed how happy we were to share our lives together starting at that moment.

My husband and I both wanted to have a memorable first dance, because lets face it… we plan on getting married once and wanted to leave an impression. We searched for a local dance studio or instructor and stumbled upon Kerri. Get this… she comes to your house! This was such a blessing as my husband travels for work and hates to drive on his days off since he drives all day everyday for work.
Kerri met us at our house for the first few lessons and choreographed a routine for us from start to finish. She ALWAYS had a smile on her face and would send us video of our lesson after each one so we could practice in between our sessions.
On our last lesson, we met at our venue and mapped out the whole routine on the dance floor which was SUCH a big plus since my husband had a hard time picturing the room when we were make believing in our condo. I dread to think how the dance would have turned out had we not done a run through at the venue… thank you Kerri for suggesting this!
All in all, the dance turned out great and everyone was impressed. We have it all on video so we can reminisce on the day and later convince our kids that we did in fact have some rhythm when we were younger. Thank you Kerri!

This review is long overdue! Our wedding was in April ’14 and we called Kerri about 3 weeks prior to the wedding. I don’t know what we were thinking but were desperate not to embarrass ourselves during our first dance. My husband and I have two left feet and she was able to put together an awesome routine for us with the music that we wanted. She came to our house on weekends and during week nights, making it very convenient. I really like her as a person and an instructor. Would highly recommend!

Kerri was the perfect dance instructor for us as we put together our first dance! She was super fun to work with and made every lesson an enjoyable time for us! The experience of putting together a choreography together as a team of 3 was incredible and while Kerri really does go with her heart and does what the music tells her, she is open to suggestions and modifications and hears you out as the bride and groom. She challenged us and encouraged us to really fine-tune a lot of the movements. She came to us and the one time she arrived late, she gave us extra time at the end! Our first dance got half the crowd crying and even some guests asking for a repeat! It was truly perfect.
Overall, we could not have chosen a better dance instructor to share a big part of our wedding with! Much love for Kerri and if you’re on the fence about the price also, go for it! It’s worth it :)

As we had no dance experience at all, we knew we would need a lot of help to pull off anything for the first dance at our wedding. Luckily we found Kerri and she was amazing at both the choreography and teaching. We had our song picked and Kerri went to work right away working out our moves and teaching them to us, all with the most wonderful and positive attitude, despite our lack of natural ability. We had so much fun with Kerri and can’t believe that she had our our entire dance choreographed and had taught us all the moves within 4 sessions — did not think that would be possible for anyone to do. Loved that she came to our house, as was so convenient. We had what we consider the perfect wedding, which is more than we dared to hope for and Kerri was a big part of this as we were able to entertain and have so much fun together with our first dance. We absolutely recommend Kerri to other couples.

Can I just say that it has always been my wish to be a part of a flash mob and Kerri made this come true for about 20 of us moms at St. Pats Catholic School. We only met with Kerri a handful of times but we were able to pull of what seemed like an incredibly daunting task. She gave us confidence and was super patient with us. We danced to a medley of music spanning several decades at our school’s gala aucton event. It was the talk of the eveing! Thanks again Kerri, you rock!
