I have been coming here for years and I love it but sadly there is this one guy that works that has the worst attitude. He is overly rude and clearly does not want to help anyone. Its really sad. If you hate your job, get a new one! If your not a people person, don’t converse! I showed him a picture of a product to see if they sold it, he barely glimpsed at the photo and said no. Then I proceeded to look around for a similar product and what do I find? Yes, the product, about 4ft from the register. I know he knew they had it because he has worked here for so many years. Sorry if I am not 50 yrs old but I do have money that I spend here quite often so maybe, just maybe you could put a smile on your face and not be a d-​bag at work!
*EVERY WOMAN THAT I HAVE COME ACROSS IN HERE HAVE BEEN NOTHING BUT AMAZING, HELPFUL AND HAPPY PEOPLE. I HOPE THEY ARE RECOGNIZED FOR THEIR WORK ETHIC.

I normally shop at the La Jolla location because it is close to my job. However, I go to the Sports Arena location once in a while when iam in the area and hands down the best customer service!!! The La Jolla location has lots to choose from but the young sales girls are really not much help not to mention the are well… Young and don’t seem to know much about the products. The SA location always has the same girls… and they are super helpful and seem to take pride in there job. This is by far the best Empire location!!! Great selection on hair products and nail polish! The best customer service hands down!!!

I normally never have an issue here. I have been coming in here for years. The other day, I came in because I ran out of my «Pink Armor» polish. I came in other day and asked where polish is located. The girl did not know what I was talking about. I believe this is a very popular polish. Maybe it’s just me but I know a ton of women who where this. How can this beauty store not have it, let alone — – the staff not know what it even is!!! It won’t stop me from coming here but I just really thought that was very odd.

I am a licensed hair stylist and I have been to many Empire locations over the years. I haven’t been to this location in quite some time, but I recently went in and was helped by Evelyn. There were multiple customers in the store and she seemed very busy, but she still managed to help me in a timely manner. She revealed to me that she is also a licensed stylist and we began talking about our personal preferences when coloring hair. Her product knowledge was so helpful that she honestly turned me on to brands I haven’t used before. I received such amazing customer service from Evelyn that I now refer all of my clients to this location.

Thanks so much Christina for all your help today and the last time I was in. You helped me more than you can imagine and your friendly attitude made my day. And thanks for remembering who I was. You are an asset to the store.

Hands down the best customer service experience I’ve had in as long as I can remember! I was in from out of town and had left my fancy curling iron AT HOME. This was a serious problem. My hair is very important to me! But seriously, I called another of the Empire stores first, and when they didn’t have my curling iron in stock, they graciously pointed me to this store which was also closer to where I was staying.
Michael took my call and literally did everything he could to help track down my curling iron and also have another employee help get it from their warehouse further away to this closer-​to-​me location. Who does that?! Seriously. It was so nice to have someone honestly want to do anything possible to help solve my problem — and not make me feel crazy for it being the need for this curling iron.
If you’re in the area and need a beauty supply shop, check them out. I can’t believe how kind they were to me. And now I have a spare curling iron to leave in my suitcase and never forget it for travel again!

The manager has more knowledge than every hair stylist I’ve ever been to. For the duration of the time I’ve been living here I have always gone to him for help and advice after hair disasters. He has always helped me purchase the right products and they have a good selection there. Everything is organized and stocked. I definitely recommend this location and store.

I’ve been going here for a few years now. Even though there is a turn over of different sales people, they always are so nice and helpful. The owner does a good job of hiring people.
I can usually find what I need here. I’m picky about products as I don’t want any tested on animals and don’t like to spend a week’s paycheck on one bottle of shampoo. That’s ridic.
I love their buyer’s card. For every $ 10 you spend, you get a square marked off and when they are filled, you get $ 10 off your purchase. That helped when I just bought a new flat iron and a curling wand.
Great for make up products too.

This is my «go-​to» place for beauty supplies, including nail polish remover, files, nail strengthener, OPI and China glaze nail polishes (they often have sales-​buy one get one for ½ off!) as well as high end shampoos and hair care products. I love this place because they have discount prices, but they let you return something with the receipt if it’s not right for you hair-​just like most salons. There is an extremely knowledgeable sales rep named Donny that always helps me. She has given me lots of great advice on make-​up, nail polishes and hair care products, as well as giving me a referral to my current stylist Jeannette Matos who works right in the back of the shop.

i don’t review often, but i have to say that i absolutely love the staff here! It is the only store that i love so much that when i moved away from the area i still made it a point to shop there no natter how far it was. the owner, Michael, really cares about his customers. I miss Elana who worked there. she moved away… a fave. Michael does a fantastic job at hiring his employees. They are all lovely inside and out and make me feel good. ok. Being too honest, but i recall the first day i met Elana. She was a positive energy SO STRONG that i actually went home and thought about how happy she was and how it changed the day i was having into a happier and better day. She had a way of changing peoples bad into good. everyone there has a good heart. good prices. good selection. always love how attentive they are to what i want and need. its really good biznss! i support business’s like this one. its the best service and i never feel rushed or pressured. i have never left a review like this one. so its a great shop! thanks that is all. Super friendly staff. I spoke with Michelle and she helped me pick out all the things I needed. She’s very knowledgeable and I appreciated her suggestions. This store is overall way more friendly than the one in Hillcrest, which is a lot closer to my house. The drive was totally worth it!

My mom was visiting from out of town and we stopped by empire. We were helped by a sweet girl named Donny. She was so attentive and helpful and somehow managed to help all five people in the store with different things at the same time. She even let someone come in and grab something quickly, even though she was closing. It’s so refreshing to have someone be so sweet and so helpful. I will happily come back and buy all my beauty supplies from her. Thanks again Donny!

Cute shop, I wandered in after dropping my dry cleaning off next door and picking up a pair of shoes from the cobbler down the way.
I wanted to pick up some at-​home hair color, and am an admitted newb. I asked the ladies working there for some direction and Michelle helped me out right away. She showed me some different color options and made a recommendation, which I took. She got me set up with everything I need – hair color, set, gloves, squeeze bottle, dispensing brush and two (1!) lipsticks for $ 26. Can’t beat that!
Overall, a really nice local spot to do your shopping. I will definitely go back and show them how my hair turned out!

My nail salon is in pt loma and I like to pick up new shades to try. This store is convenient but the girls are overkill. Everytime I go in they follow me around non-​stop rambling on about sales. I don’t mind being greeted but they just won’t back off. It’s annoying! I like to relax and browse, but they make it soo uncomfortable. I won’t be coming in again.

The staff is very friendly and helpful. I went in to get some dye and ended up making an appt to get it done. I haven’t gotten my hair done by a professional in a looooong time. I came back on the day of my appt and Jeanette was awesome. We talked over what I wanted and she was very knowledgeable and helpful. She spent so much time doing my hair and it came out great! I got a copper-​red color and she recommended products to help keep the color intact and healthy. My hair looks great and I will be back to see her again.

Extremely helpful and friendly staff! I had such a pleasant experience trying to find the right bleach and dye for my hair. Honestly, I don’t know much about hair but I wasn’t treated any differently and was smiling every time I left. Alaina was the best! However… and heres the only bummer… the dye she recommended made my hair a darker yellow instead of removing the yellow :(. I would just recommend having an idea of what you’re supposed to be picking up.
If anything to take from this, its a great place to shop for hair products and they make you feel very comfortable.

I have only been here a handful of times, but I like their selection of China Glaze and OPI nail polish and their staff is always helpful and friendly. I picked up 4 new colors on my last visit thanks to a buy 1 get 1 half off sale. Since my other beauty supply store closed abruptly I think I’ll be making he switch to this one, especially since its so close to my gym and dry cleaners.

I am the first to admit this fact: I am a hair abuser… of my own hair. Even though I am always getting my hair wet first before I hit the pool or constantly spraying on leave-​in conditioner, I still have a mop on the top of my head at the end of the day-​despite it all!
Enter: Empire Beauty Supply. I wondered in one day a while back after getting my caffeine crack dose next door at the Von’s Starbucks. I was just looking around amazed at all the hair products. It really is mind-​blowing and they have some great stuff too. The expensive kinds like Paul Mitchell that are sold at Salon’s are here & somewhat affordable. But I was looking to heal my hair that day and asked for the best protein conditioner money could buy.
Now the nice gentleman that runs this place was very cordial and showed me something called the 911 pack! I bought a couple at $ 3 per packet and tried it that night. OMG ! By the time my hair dried, it felt like silk! What an awesome product!
I have since been back looking around and now am on the hunt for the perfect hair gel… not too greasy or too drying, but just right?
The way some women shop for designer shoes or fancy hand-​bags; I am just happy to lay out dough for good hair products. In addition, there is lots of make-​up, hair color items, nail polish and nail grooming supplies, and some of these Empires have on-​site manicurists and hair-​dressers.
My only complaint and one that keeps this place from getting an additional star, is that this particular location still HAND-​WRITES their sales up and has no computer or computerized cash register. It does take extra time, and consequently, service can be slow or lethargic.
I don’t dare run into this place when I am short on time because I don’t want to get stuck in a line where the owner is writing up all these sales! GET IN THE COMPUTERIZED AGE! Otherwise-​come here and turn your straw-​like hay hair into something a hot guy would want to run his caveman hands through!
